Gran Turismo Sport Previews

The PS Access overview video shows a lot of our UI and it makes me very excited knowing it's out there for everyone to see.

Looking forward to learning what you guys think about the menus.

Any day now Kaz will say that the car count for GTSport is low because making car models for PS4 quality takes 6 months per car, but that we shouldn't worry because the GTSport models are future proof.

Ima a wizard apparently.

I mean I know it's from photo travel, I just mean the effect doesn't really work.

There is a small luminous offset between the bottom and the moving shape .. the car is so bright that it emerges too much from the overall image..
But for the inclusion and animation of the set it works pretty well for me.. I find the magic to see slowly pass a sublime car in front of me IRL ^^

Something about GT's menus and menu music really speaks to me, I know people criticize the old ones but I really love them. I think this is the only series where I specifically look forward to the UI.

Classy. GT's UI is very unique, and I'm glad such essence was kept while making it more modern and stylish.

It's interesting as I think you can see a number of influences with the menu this time around. The UI designer is the same guy that designed DRIVECLUB's. Simplicity and quickness is something I think of when I think of DC's menus. But I think you can still see PD's influence. The cars driving along the scapes while you select the color actually reminds me of an evolution of the GT5P menus. Maybe even a bit of Codemasters with how flashy and animated their menus were last generation.

The UI and presentation is pretty awesome and slick, with better functionality than previous games. I like the home screen with actual footage of the cars driving around. Btw, can you let us disable the rear-view mirror in bumper cam when racing though?

Great work on the UI, C4EMGEN! Between this and Driveclub, you certainly know how to make slick UI's.

I saw your post. When I saw this some time later, I couldn't believe just how on point you were down to the minute details.

Polyphony needs a wake-up call. How much wider can the gap between Forza and Gran Turismo get? Forza 7 VS GT Sport, I would have laughed at anyone who told me there would be such a colossal content difference in Forza's favor between the two up until Forza 3. After Forza 4 and GT5 however...

Very slick and beautiful menus. Great job on that. I hope you guys implement dynamic UI during gameplay.

I may be disappointed on the game content wise, but the UI presentation etc has been top notch and exactly what I expect and want from a Gran Turismo game. Top notch.

Great job!

(also, did I say it was top notch? LOL)
There's a massive difference between the first and second credits. Thats a pretty big assumption to make. I was counting till the first credit, since that is what the vast majority of people get to before going to MP.
The two people you've replied to on this matter have already said they spent way more than 20 hours before reaching the first credits. And if the first credits are what most people would assume to be completing the game, that would reflect on howlongtobeat as well.

Menus are looking great and slick. Dunno about the golden discoball award tho. Haha

Great work man, they look sleek and functional.

Did you also work on the companion app?

Looks pretty damn good. I will buy it if I can play it with my G25, otherwise I will just stick to iRacing.

Looks good! I really like what I'm seeing!

This video is great. Everyone should watch it. Some things to take away

- Tuning is all in but no part shop
- Livery is not only for cars but also for helmet and suits (not sure if you can make custom though).
- Photo sharing space
- Scapes are stunning and you can even have the car drive in some of them
- Max driver level seems to be 50
- MP has Ranked races, quick play races and lobbies
- I think there is still a lot to see from SP, as people have only gone over the first line. Stage 1 mission challenge already has several races for instance, alongside quirky stuff. Circuit experience is for improving your times via a tutorial.
- Certain scapes are exclusive to what manufacturer you join with.
- Arcade has custom race option (wish it wasn't blocked out >.<)

It would be nice if you can save race settings made in arcade mode so you don't have to set the weather, number of laps, track, AI level, etc. every time you want to do a specific race.

Well, a few alignment issues ;) probably related to the localisation, but the layout and styling's top banana.

PlayStation Underground showed less of the UI, but in fuller 4K glory a few days ago. https://youtu.be/PI62M0Y_moE?t=20s

Where's the custom race mode info? It's the only hope of saving this cutdown rejigged GT6 PS4 shitfest for me. It better have a shit load of options from the bog standard stuff to tweaking individual AI, it also needs save/shareable single races and championships free from PSplus.

Anyone would think you've spent the last 2 years looking forward to this game based on all your posts about it.

the menu's are so good!

The thing about GT's front end menus is they encourage players to spend time in them, and are paced/animated in a way that enables them to feel like an extension of the game rather than just a portal to it which you want to hammer through as quickly as possible.

It always feels to me that its channelling early (retro) resource management style games where the majority of the game would have taken place in menus with stats rather than any interactive onscreen action, no doubt born out of the the early GT meta game of buying/collecting/modifying.

Whether or not this style is still relevant for this game with such a focus on competitive online racing remains to be seen.

Really looks like the base fundamentals are all excellent. Game will just need more content now to satisfy everyone.

Improved engine sounds
Great Graphics
Best Presentation (IMO)
Good feedback improvement from MP beta
Great system in place to encourage good driving
Official Sponsorership from FIA
Beautiful photo mode and car history
Great tutorials to actually teach you to drive

Needs
More cars
More tracks
More weather variety (?)

If PD can just push content out quick, this will be the best GT of all time I think after a year of updates. But that's a big if. If the content is 5 new cars and one track in Janurary then it's probably never gonna get to a theoretical 300-400 cars and 80 tracks. I think high car counts are kinda stupid though and really would like a great number like 250 personally.

Seeking a confirmation that his intention was to continue with the Sport lineage moving forward, I asked Yamauchi what his thoughts were around ever creating a Gran Turismo 7 and if any work had begun. This was his reply:

“Gran Turismo 7 is not currently planned. All our studios are focused on Gran Turismo Sport and, once it is out, the DLC that follows afterwards.”

Agreed, little things like that which have never been done before really elevate the atmosphere.

They are playing on pro, and said it was 4K and 60fps.

edit : maybe that's not correct then because of the below post?

Yeah I can't say I've seen any games do that before.

If it's the same as the Beta, Digital Foundry confirmed the 4k mode runs at 1800p checkerboarding. Looked really nice on my 4k TV.

Yeah that was a neat little touch. The PS access guy (was it rob?) did pretty good actually. The Aussie guys were really aggressive.

Yeah it looked like they were pretty aggressive, good race though.
