Each object is considered a layer. These in-game editors are more like illustrator (with no pen tool) than photoshop.
Yeah I see. Thanks for the explanation.

One of the best by what measure? Having less than a third of the number of layers available to paint on than Forza does (a tenth when it comes to some parts of the car)? No sign of grouping or saving custom layer groups either?
It's got lots of nice material presets and uploading will be neat for people who can take advantage of it, but it's missing a bunch of basic features.
I guess you're right, just (contingently) upsetting that it's a half measure in some regards but exceptional in others. It's one of those features that requires foresight from the jump, and there's already precedence and refinement of these features to work off of.One of the best by merit of being one of the best? how many games offer such a livery editor as Forza does?
This is dope.
Oh wow that's super cool, reminds me of the gun engraver designed Zemaitis guitars!
Looks to be 300 for the whole car.So forza has close to 10k layers for the whole car and GT has 300 layers for the whole car? Or 300 layers per section of car?
If we can import images then the layer restrictions should be eased. The decals are very high quality thankfully.
1000 photography 'spots', some car specific
seems kinda overwhelming at first, but yeah, I will spend a lot of time here.PS Access Scapes video

Looks pretty damn good for a photomode, it's really, really indepth

The idea of importing logos or images to place them on your car is brilliant. Although it's going to be much more work for Sony to sort out controversial/NSFW content.
300 layers isn't going to be enough to make Kate tho.Poor Lambo. Kill it with fire.
Liveries were always intended in a racing game to mimic racing liveries, or to create your own team, your local shop sponsoring something....
I don´t think we need more than 300 layers to do 99% of the things we wish.
The decal resolution might be higher in GT Sport so that could be why the count is so much lower. And since you can import images (apparently), you can just create your complicated decals in Photoshop/GIMP/Acorn etc. So I think it's a fair trade off.

There was some fabulous camera shake/movement in the cockpit portion of that "vid" hope this is a sign of things to come!
Didn't look like it...Probably VR.
Yeah that looked great! I love details like that, I believe the first NFS Shift was the game that kind of started that and at the time it made all other racing games look dead in comparison. There was some fabulous camera shake/movement in the cockpit portion of that "vid" hope this is a sign of things to come!

Awful?? It was a bit too much maybe but seriously, compare a video of NFS Shift with the Forza or GT which were released within the same period and they look sooo sterile in comparison. Slightly Mad tried to capture what it's like to actually sit inside a powerful race car, they had deep head movement simulation and it's like Turn10 and PD had never thought about that aspect at all at that time. PD and Turn10 have both tried to adapt their own head simulation since then. That looks incredibly awful to me, but if they want to have earthquake camera shake, there better be options to turn it off
Yup! And it doesn't have to be an F1 car, look at this clipYeah, i'm in the team "break your neck" camera shake camp...These cars are viscious things and most car games this aspect simply doesn't translate...F1 games are notorious. One look at onboard footage of a real F1 car shows just how bumpy the ride actually is...

For the most part I don't think we understand how far we are from the real thing, unless we race in real life too. We get some of the vibrations using a steering wheel but there is still so much to do before games can capture the intense feeling of racing really fast. I wish the devs spent more time simulating this aspect than many other details you barely notice when driving this fast.
Yeah it was pretty much unplayable with the controller for me, even after tweaking the sensitivity it just wasn't great gameplaywise. But the camera work was awesome! And play it on PC with a steering wheel at high framerates and it's truly great! Very very underrated game, imo.I always hated how little the steering wheel turns (at least using the pad) in FM.

The problem with these exagerated camera shakes is that the games try to simulate what you see on board cameras... those and driving arent the same thing, you dont have a seizure driving a fast car... your brain and eyes adapt, it's not realistic and hurts playability as well
??? That's what we're talking about...There is camera movement in GT Sport
