What is the deal with awful people online and anime avatars?

Might as well disable avatars website wide at this point because it's a really tired argument on the site.

Not saying there is no correlation but the people that shit on every person on this site that has anything that is even remotely Japanese looking that isn't a real life person is quite old.
You only notice it when it fits your definition. Plenty of assholes out there who don't have anime avatars and plenty of people with anime avatars that are cool folks.

It doesn't help when even some of the mods even agree to this so it's a losing battle.

Don't stop wearing anime avatars because of alt-right assholes, guys.

Stop wearing anime avatars because anime is garbage. :V

You know the creator of Undertale enjoys anime right?

Anime isn't exactly progressive when it comes to it's portrayal of women and minorities.

say no to half-breeds

There are some things that some anime/manga studios put out that you simply won't find in other forms of entertainment. Young alt-right internet dbags tend to gravitate to some of that stuff. While there's lots of fine anime out there, there are things unique to anime that really attracts these people.

Clipshow episode where they remembered when they turned into teenagers. It's canon!

Oh true, I don't recall it lol

I like watching Chinese cartoons as much as the next guy, but I don't see the need to advertise it to everyone. Like, this is a group that can't go five minutes without jerking off over Light Yagami, a fucking serial killer; of course a large segment of them are dolts.

The show Dexter had fans too, just saying

what if I didn't know what was anime back then

You know now ;D

Totes. But I'm not down on the whole of gaming or comic books as a medium because of the sexism, racism, and misogyny present. GamerGate is by and far largely worse than most of what I've seen come out of a community, to the point of actively harassing female employees; or that DC editor that was harassed for having a milkshake

So are you down on those mediums as well?

Just like anime, those have aspects that merit being down on it as well lol

Alright, civil riot time.

We're always treated like third class citizens by other geeks who paint us all with broad strokes due to their perceived illusions of a few bad apples. This discrimination has gone on far enough!

I don't know it's easier to just troll as if it doesn't matter

Wait isn't that sort of concern-ridiculing, anti-empathetic, disaffected behavior a sign of the alt right? Oh shi

Non-anime avatar people would never understand what it's like to be treated like a suspect every time we entered a thread.

Because most anime fans are basement dwelling losers that blame their pathetic existence on immigrants.
Funnily enough, as a child of immigrants the only thing keeping this from being true is my lack of basement.
(Well I have nothing to blame my parents for but they did give birth to me :P)

Serious answer -

Feeling of being ostracized and a hobby common to that (gaming too) leads to the same kind of political leaning. I see a lot of far left and far right people sporting anime avatars.

a bunch of awkward nerds that can bond with other awkward nerds that can put the blame for their failures on others and spew as much hate as possible without having to look at themselves and fix the problems

Obviously #notallanimeavatars are terrible people. What you're seeing is that 4chan, a main website of the Western anime fanbase, also doubles as a meeting ground for horrible scumbags. There's gonna be some overlap.

You can always trust someone with a Simpsons avatar.

You ever encounter a douchebag with a Simpsons avatar?

Checkmate weeaboos.

I concur... anyone with an 8-year old cartoon girl as their avatar can't be trusted.

Wait a second...

I just don't trust anyone with anime avatar. Especially those who has some chibi looking 8 year old anime girl as their avatar.
Yep. You can't trust those shifty-eyed, tricksters. Top 5 worst avatar types:

1. Anime
2. Furries
3. Sonic
4. No avatar or something like just a line or a color
5. Furries

Anime is pretty big with people that spend way too much time on the internet.
I imagine it has something to do with it.

Also, since a lot of Anime look somewhat similar it's easier to identify than say game avatars or comic avatars

lots of anime is unrepentant trash appealing to the lowest common denominator and should be actively criticized as such

but some shows, from my experience especially those in the psychological horror genre, are very creative and avoid those pitfalls that plague the medium

it's important for fans of a medium to recognize accumulated filth brought about by unexamined tropes and lowly appeals to sexism and general bigotry - whether it be comics, video games, anime, etc.

Well, it is still called gamergate.

And always funny that one of the most vocal anti anime guy here who loved to have the internet moral high ground is now known as goddamn pedo.

Man, some of you guy talk as if none of you were once socially awkward nerds =_=

There's a reason we all end up here instead of going outside right now and playing in playgrounds.

Yes people (and I use that term in the most general of ways) who identify themselves with the use of a Japanimation avatar should all be rounded up and ejected into the sun.
