Final Fantasy 15 - Windows Version Trailer (PC)

It's weird to see so many people excited to play a game that got totally shitted on by Neogaf. I personally liked it quite a bit. Hopefully people can keep their expectations in check.
Didn't Final Fantasy XIII sell close to a million units on Steam? People love this stuff still.

It's a nice effort that's for sure... And I'm not one for Youtube comments but as this one would say : "too bad the game is shit".

No amount of graphical enhancements can salvage this mess of an rpg.

That song in the trailer, the prelude thing. Is that on the soundtrack? I bought the soundtrack on google play and couldn't find that song. Anyone know the official name and if its on there?

Not in the regular OST, no (and I'm still miffed at that. This song is gorgeous), but it's included in FFXV Special Soundtrack that comes with the Ultimate Collector Edition, titled simply "Prelude (for World of Wonder)".

I'm not particularly excited to play it.

But given all the tech inside it, and an art style I find appealing, I'm resigned to picking it up mostly to look at it.

I mean, all the other games I can think of which have stuff like Turf Effects or VXAO are even less interesting to me :P

After going SSD for games and work, HDD is worthless for anything except storage.
For most games, on a PC with sufficient RAM, the loading time differences are rather minimal. I have the vast majority of my Steam library on a HDD, simply so that I never even have to think about size .

Never did get around to playing this. Hoping to get confirmation that the PC version can run above 30 fps, noticed they did not highlight that in the trailer...

Hope my i5-6500/GTX 1060-rig can take this up to 1080p60.

Edit: Looking at those recommended specs, likely not. D:
The recommended specs are apparently for 4k. 4k is roughly 4 times as expensive GPU-wise as 1080p. Your 1060 isn't 4 times slower than a 1080ti, so I wouldn't give up too soon.

(That said, first we'll need some framerate information in general)

It could be, but just having high recommended specs doesn't indicate that.

Personally, I think it's nice that S-E seems to have moved significantly beyond just offering the console version at higher resolution for this game.

I actually have to agree with this. I miss the days of PC games putting cutting edge graphical features and techniques into their games that tax hardware beyond the current generation.

NeoGAF also voted it a top 10 games of 2016, so clearly the answer is the game is polarizing and that a lot of people REALLY loved it.

I loved the overall gameplay experience. The story was under cooked garbage.

Aaaah finally.

Wonder if it'll have any new features. At minimum, I'm assuming it'll have all the patches and add on episodes so far at least?

Edit: Says so on the Steam page. Cool.

The game was still new at the time and I'm sure a lot of people were still in Chapter 3 thinking "omg there's so much to this game!!!" (just like me) when in reality they've already seen much that the game has to offer. As other people have pointed out, a lot of people have soured on it since then. And it's not just on GAF. Ppl on every website say this "oh it's just on this site," no it isn't. And I've also gone on numerous YouTube vids with 500k+ views and a lot of them have scathing top comments.

People like being negative on the internet?

Tell me more.

You're using YouTube comments to validate your opinion? No offence but that's as bad as using gamefaqs.

This may surprise you, and I'm sure you won't want to admit it, but most people voted it amongst their top games of the year because they really liked it.

How many casual drive-by posters have come into this topic stating the game's bad reputation?

Sure a good amount of people liked it but the game doesn't exactly have a good reputation.

Do you have to download the 4k textures? If I'm content with 1080, is there like a 60gb download option?

We'll see how they distribute it. Best textures could be a separate free dlc download on Steam, but we don't know.

SE hasn't been super smart with how they package their Steam releases in the past, that is to say, they could for example have all the separate languages in their own depots so you'd only need to download the one in your settings, but based on how they handled FF13, outlook not so good.

Here's hoping they are smarter this time.

How does a Nvidia partnership work?

Did they contact SE, or did SE contact them? I wonder if SE wanted some PC experts to help with the port, or if Nvidia wanted a pretty game associated with thier brand?

I just have 2x SSDs now, would have to clear out one entire drive for this game.

PC players love their JRPGs. They are always wildly successful in spite of Squares strategy.
Tell me about the Trails games tho...
...
:(

Personally I'm not particularly interested in this one, but I'm going to check it out sometime, if only because it looks pretty. :P

Holy shit this looks amazing!! :D Started to play it on PS4Pro, but only played a couple of hours, so I guess I'm gonna be putting that playthrough on hold and wait for this definitive version.

The grass particularly looks amazing, it's one of the areas that the Witcher 3 really didn't excel, so it's good to see it's getting attention here.

Been waiting for this ever since the game came out!
I knew they'd make it on PC because they hinted on it a few times, but did say it would take longer to come out, honestly, it's coming out sooner than I thought it would. lol

"Bonus Content.
FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION boasts a wealth of bonus content, including content contained in free updates to the console versions as well as paid downloadable content originally available through the Season Pass. Players can also explore the world of Eos through Noctis's eyes in an all-new first-person mode."

This means we get all of the season pass for free right?

$60. Sure.

It was my favorite game of 2016 but I wouldn't say I LOVED it, just enjoyed it well enough.

Nearly every new game I've played in 2017 has beaten it lol

HFTS and VXAO are incredibly demanding effects. Not to mention hairworks can be a drain on resources. I'm curious if there have been large milestones on improving the performance of those techniques? As I recall, the HFTS definitely hits framerate hard in The Division.

No, not really. They're basically effects you shouldn't enable, not for a few more years.

I've been waiting for an excuse to play again. The game is kind of a mess but the gameplay loop was enjoyable. Hopefully MS/NVIDIA fix their disastrous HDR situation before this comes out. I'll be ready for 4K with my 1080 Ti.

Did they ever go back and fix chapter 13 with DLC add-ons? If not, that may prevent me from double-dipping on XV. I dread playing through that slog again.

Steam Spy has XIII at ~700k units sold. I'll bet XV sells over a million after a year. Final Fantasy games have been successful on the PC since the 90's. And this game is FAR better than XIII. Worlds better.

I would have hoped they would release the PC version when they were done with all the DLC updates they were going to do as a full package, instead the PC users will still have paid DLC they have to contend with

Regardless of how i feel about the game itself....even though this game was built for console level hardware to handle, it still shines bright on PC just from that trailer, the full grass looks great, like GTA5's xbox one to PS4 grassgate except on console to PC

To be fair to SE though....even though this game was built for console level hardware to handle, it still shines bright on PC just from that trailer, the full grass looks great, like GTA5's xbox one to PS4 grassgate except on console to PC

The Steam store page specifically mentions that it includes the DLC from the season pass.

There's a lot to hate about FFXV, for sure. I can definitely see why people would be disappointed, and why they'd want to talk about it as well, given the long ass development time and hype surrounding it, so I don't have an issue with folks discussing the game and how much they dislike it here. But if you're entering a Final Fantasy XV thread to post laughing gifs at people saying they enjoy Final Fantasy XV, maybe it's time to move on.

It's okay to be dissapointed with a game, but it's just a video game. Let it go. There was a poster in the "what good news about FFXV from gamescom?" thread who posted "developers fired". So yeah... Joke or not, that's in bad taste, saying people should get fired because you weren't satisfied with the game. Entitlement at it's most extreme.

Why not, not like you need to keep all your games installed at the same time with a good connection

Not everyone has a good connection and not everyone has a large SSD to begin with. There's no reason to waste space on video files stored on an SSD, there is 0 benefit over moving them to a mechanical drive.

Well loved may be a strong word for it, but my point still stands a lot of people enjoyed the game inspite of problems. I imagine the "overwhelming negativity" comes from internet confirmation bias where people who didn't like the game find others who didn't like the game. Combine that with the final fantasy fan base being split into 20 different camps of what games are their favorite/good/bad and where they want the series to go. The moment ff15 was confirmed an action rpg several of the camps were going to despise it regardless of quality because it wasn't a turned based rpg. Not here to excuse the games very real problems, but there are plenty who'll finally get a chance to play this on pc and really enjoy it.
