Well, when I can google "_____ shortages" and find articles like this:
PS4 Shortages Could Last Until April
Sony Needs to Solve PS4 Pro PSVR Stock Shortages
Why is the PSVR Aim Controller Impossible to Find?
Shortages spoil 360 launch
Microsoft is Having Kinect Shortages
Xbox One Elite Controller Shortages Expected Through March 2016
boycotting Nintendo exclusively seems like, say it with me now, an overreaction.
Especially since most of those are for the very consoles themselves, not tiny figures, novelty stocking-stuffers or limited editions with an artbook. Every single company with a successful, highly-demanded product will have stock shortages;
every single one except
maybe Apple. Nintendo has been incompetent in the past but, as those articles suggest, so has everyone else; supply and demand is a complicated issue; going "boycott!!!!" at a few products in Nintendo's entire line of products being lapped up by scalpers or handled improperly by retailers just turns that complicated issue into one of right-and-wrong.
It's not exactly selfless either. As evidenced above, every company suffers from stock issues and most every person has suffered from said stock issues before. Your Persona 5 Collector's Edition? Selling for
£200 new or £150 used here in the UK. The PS4 Pro?
Here's a thread of
fellow GAFfers with many complaints about not being able to buy one. Are you going to boycott ATLUS and Sony?
So, yeah, I consider it an over-reaction.
