Destiny on PC is a game changer

Yes, it really is a game changer.

I am set to double-dip and play with IRL friends on X1, but holy shit it is going to feel like playing Destiny 2 Junior after experiencing the PC version.

And SSD support.

'scuse the ignorance here, mainly console gamer myself in my later years. But do PC games specifically need SSD support to use them?

Looks awesome on PC. No doubt about that.

But I have literally 0.000000% interest on using mouse and keyboard.

And honestly, if you aren't using mouse+key, then you are already at a huge disadvantage, at least on pvp.

Been watching some streams and yeah, good luck if you are using controller. You'll be schooled 24/7.

Pc gaming will always be a niche market for guys who have the money for sick rigs and enjoy gaming in the pc experience.

My dude, the only people who view PC gaming this way are the people who have at least a little bit of that AAA exclusive tunnel vision going on. PC gaming isn't a niche market. PC games targeted toward owners of high-end PCs, that's a niche market. However, you'll find that old PCs still generally play thousands of games, many of which are successful and popular without console versions at all. In fact, the most played games in the world are almost all on PC, and that they run well on weak machines is paramount to their sustained success. Even a pretty average rig can still do some shit.

It's more of a personal belief that there's no way pc gaming is more popular then console in N America that's all.

wow, you know what, reading your responses up to this point, I'm sorry for taking you seriously, jeez. You should just look into how prevalent PC gaming actually is. There's a world of gaming beyond just the kind of AAA games that started to dominate the console market last generation. And a lot of those games are quite a bit bigger than what you understand to be the biggest console game franchises.

Unlocked FPS and mouse and keyboard makes an FPS not feel like ass...more news at 11.
Was this an actual problem with Destiny to begin with (
no, it wasn't
) or are we doing that thing where we act like all console controls suck always?

Destiny is still a loot based PVE game with tacked on PVP and boring enemy variants/types that get recycled way too much. As much as the Destiny 2 port is as god tier as GTA V it's not a game changer, it's still just a theme park ride.

I am so darn delighted to hear this. I was going to wait a little bit for the Steam version, but I'll probably be buying and have it co-exist next to my Pro version.

Yes because you've played destiny 2 in its entirety right?

Thanks for your opinion though!

Won't happen. Activisions own the bnet client so they won't have to give up that 30% to Steam. Which makes me realize the PC version is the only one they don't need to give up 30% for. The wonder they made the version so good.

Lol all you need to do is play the beta and you can see it. My point still stands this just isn't a game changer.

I guess the game experience does change on PC though. I wouldn't be able to touch this at 30fps

Honestly, the gameplay loop doesn't look all that different from anything I've seen. I was hoping to never see the damn vex again lol. I hope those that dig that enjoy it though. My own damn fault for burning out on the original.

PC version does look really good though.

Lol PvP a tacked on lol. Do you even play D1? Majority of the weapon/ammo/abilities nerfs/buffs was the result of PvP shenanigans that it even affected PvE. PvP has the same or even more priority than PvE.

Well duh. I'm talking about the gameloop of PSO.

Yes, they're both pretty similar. But there's pseudo-open world roaming mission in Destiny. But most of the time, you'll be spending your time going back and forth of the main hub and mission maps. Just like PSO2.

It's great! Loving it. Glad I skipped D1 so this could be my first Destiny experience. Hope they come through with more content for the game then they did D1 vanilla.

Here's my biggest question.

I've been a console gamer my whole life right, how hard would it be for me to get used to fps on pc with a m and kb? Or would I be better off using a controller?

Would those using m//kb have an advantage over me.

I play fps competitively, so it bugs me out to be at a disadvantage.

I could afford the best rig money can buy, but the whole things scares the shit out of me.

Usually, I would say you would be at a huge disadvantage using a controller in a PVP shooter on PC....but something about Destiny is slightly tuned for console feel IMO (the ADS, the movement, the supers etc), couple this with very generous aim assist (feels just like the PS4 beta, like exactly) and you are fine to play on controller.

Destiny 2 feels amazing on controller on PC, it's very nice to say that.

I forgot you've played the game in it's entirety and have actually experienced all the new content: Vex time devices confirmed.

yes, we have a buddy in our crew that travels a lot with a gaming laptop and brings a controller with. He's been halfway decent and compares to the average PC player it seems based on efficiency. Seems like they did a good job of balancing manual vs assist

Plenty of talk about 60 FPS. Most of the streamers are obviously using strong PCs, but they are well north of 60 FPS. Averaging min rates at double that tbh.

I've played the beta and it's more than enough to see where this is going. Especially after looking at Destiny 1. Bland loot n shoots aren't my thing.

If you want it to be even more of a game changer...

I've made a post requesting C+M support on PC to give us even more options.

If any of you would like to see it on Destiny, please take the time to show your support for it.

Replied in there. I read something a bit ago I forget where about it helping someone who was disabled or something i dunno. The more people that can game the better imo.

Using my Elite controller and performing just fine in PVP so far. Actually the first match I played I got more kills than I ever did in the console beta, somehow managed to wreck a lot of people.

I don't think Destiny is the type of shooter where controller users will be destroyed.

canceled my PS pre order after watching some twitch streams today game looks good on PS Pro but it doesn't even compare to PC version. Time to stop putting off building a new rig cause this looks like this might be great.

It's... hard for me to admit that I have any sort of disability, in fact, this is the first time I think I've publicly said it like that, so it's even harder to ask for options like this.

Living with this for as long as I have I am slowly coming to terms that things just aren't going to be the same for me. Or at the least it's going to take a very, very long time to recover and adapt again.

I'd really, really rather not have to give up some things that I love in the face of my struggle after all I've already lost.

The problem is, the majority don't care and are happy with the norm. In fact, a lot like to turn it into a superiority contest. Which is why I normally stay quiet.

I just... I want to have a fun time exploring with cool group of friends again like old times. I haven't done that in years and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

I mean, I can be Captain Totally Not America But Purple and actually do it justice with the KB/M playstyle. It is amazing. And also pretty.

Ah shoot.

Makes sense they don't want to give that much of a portion of revenue considering how big Destiny 2 is going to be. Still going to buy both versions though, deluxe / gold with everything included. Addicted like crack to Destiny. The gameplay loop is so top notch.

The new XBOX must be powerful enough to do 60fps.. so I am curious about their decision to go 30fps. just for PS4PRO parity?

New Xbox still has shit Jaguar CPU. It could have a 1080ti and it won't hit 60fps with that CPU.

I was kind of lamenting my poor Titan losing his jump and hammer abilities, but after watching this...Maybe it's going to be ok.

ahh.. man.. sucks :D.. can't wait for Destiny 3 with 30fps on PS5

Yep, no way I'm going back to PS4 now.

The game looks amazing and performance is great. The quality of the PC build is fantastic with lots of customisation.

I don't mind waiting until October because the difference is night and day. This game doesn't deserve to played with a controller at 30fps.

Huh? Plenty of games have reached 60fps even on base xb1. No need to go down that road.

I really do think Bungie are just doing this for parity.

I would have to agree, but not for X1X vs PS4Pro but between systems in family. Especially for MP.

Someone on X1X/PS4Pro 60fps vs another on X1/PS4 at 30 in trials... I can already see the threads on the Bungie forums.

Oh man this verison is glorious. It looks amazing and the framerate is buttery smooth on my 970 at highest setting minus MSAA.

Performance seems to be pretty consistent, no areas really causing any significant drop in fps.

PvE is insanely easy now compared to PS4, I can see so much more around me and turn around instantly. Loving it, can't wait for October.

6700k
1080ti

I can get 4k 90fps on high settings, but ultra tanks it to a steady 30 lol. Need to figure out the sweet spot of settings.

I was also trying to use my steam controller, which doesn't work great with non steam apps so I've got to figure out a scheme that works because fuck using a stick

Seems like a great port. I hated destiny 1 but I can't wait for release now that the PC version is so solid

Personally, I'm don't have any doubt about the quality of D2 on PC. I'm sure it will be amazing.

But I'm kinda torn whether to play on PC or PS4 solely because of the player base especially in South East Asia. Overwatch PC doesn't seem to have any problem with SEA player base. I guess D2 won't have that problem as well.

I'll wait and see then..

I'll be getting this on PC eventually. Bungie really should have sacrificed some shit to get this to run at 60 on consoles, because almost all the big titles at least shoot for 60 on console.

Just played through the intro and, man, this game feels so damn good to play with a keyboard and mouse at 60 FPS. Just a ton of fun! I cannot wait for release.

other games doing it does not mean anything. that isn't an apples to apples comparison. the cpu isnt strong enough in the xbonex to get 60 the way destiny 2 is built right now. they'd have to downgrade the game to get it. less players, assets, etc. it's not for parity. it's a legit comment

per bungie...

"Could we make a Destiny game that ran at 60 FPS? Yes," Noseworthy said in the latest issue of Edge magazine, as reported by Wccftech. "But the space would be smaller, it would be less cooperative, and there'd be fewer monsters to shoot. That's not the game we want to make."

A loot based FPS will be fine on PC so long as it's a solid port which this appears to be.

PC community will still be smaller then the console ones.

Should be fine if you got friends.

(None of my like actually know friends are getting this, few jump ship after playing the PC beta).

Aren't all blizzard store games higher played on PC? Overwatch? Diablo? Both have a bigger PC community then consoles afaik

It will most likely end up being

PS4 > PC > Xbox IMO (all 3 will have a solid player base). PS4 will most likely always have the highest player base cause exclusives, then pc second because it actually feels like a completely different game and almost every streamer will be playing it on PC on oct 24th, and then xbox.. but thats just my opinion

PC feels the best by far and I can't see myself ever playing it on console again.
