Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Damn it, just gone and picked this up to join the hype

Really enjoyed D1 on launch, was never into the grindy endgame though but did repeat some missions

Shall enjoy D2 campaign once through then sell on

I walked into a local store (Medimax) and bought a copy of this for €57.99, and it even came with the Coldheart preorder bonus package, which I hadn't expected.Pretty cool.

I went to MediaMarkt and two other stores, too, to see if by any chance I could snag a Limited Edition, but apparently no store had even received any.

The game cost €59.99 at MediaMarkt, and at the other two stores, too. The €57.99 sticker on my copy was covering a sticker with a €69.99 price on it... there must have been some crazy last minute price matching going on for this game, because on MediaMarkt's website it was still €69.99 yesterday, too...

Anyway, installing now, hype :)

So I guess they are still working on enabling bungie.net features?

I would have thought gear manager/vendors/eververse would be online today.

Dunno why people think that exotics should be super rare. Raid and Trials weapons/armor are super rare. The only difference between exotics and other items is that you can wear only one thing at the time because they have some neat perks.

Because in every other loot based game that color and name means something else. It means you've found the best of the best and it's superior to everything else. The way Destiny has always handled exotics is kind of odd tbh. But it's mainly because there's so few of them.

Is anyone having trouble finding Crucible games (Xbone)? I'm level 13 currently, wondering if that might have something to do with it. Could join fine in the beta and D1, but now it's just "Searching for Guardians..." and "Evaluating Guardians..." while staying at 1/8.

Just ended a 20 hours game marathon, been playing since 00:00 UK time. I fell asleep a few times during some missions...

Finished the campaign and all quests on my titan, level 252, ready for nightfall and getting ready for the raid.

What an amazing experience this was! The game is miiiiiiiiiiles better than the first one, pve wise, i miss the old pvp though.

Dont want to hear about destiny for a few days, gotta let my friends catch up and then looking forward to doing it all again on my warlock! :)

Any Patrol impressions? That's what should feel really NEW in this game... while campaign and Strike playlist should be fairly familiar.

I am on the fence about jumping into the hype of Destiny 2. Have they announced anything about what is coming up next in terms of content and how often they will be adding new stuff?

So one of the "pre-reviews" mentioned that the sparrow was a random drop, but that this might change after the day 1 patch.

Did that change?

Just hit level 19. One more! There's so much to do and I'm way over leveled for the main campaign. Still haven't visited the last planet.

Do strikes become available after a certain point in the main story? Just got to level 20 but they're not available yet. Regarding the main story, I just got to
Io and meet with Ikora

Just finished the story.

That last cut scene...

Am I gonna be able to max out all 3 subclasses with upgrade points from leveling up/adventures or should I be saving them for the class I'm gonna main?

We got to play around 7 hours last night. Didn't even feel like 7 hours. Really liking it so far though, the Qol changes are nice...fast travel and director from wherever you are are terrific. Even travelling to other planets are very quick.

So far so good...

What is the difference between starting a new character or playing your old character from D1? Other than the way they look, is there anything else?

At some point, does a quest log book unlock like the one that was added to Destiny 1?

Wondering if there's any way to keep track of campaign missions, public events, statistics, adventure quests, etc.

Just realized my Xbox Live lapsed and I'm too broke till next week to get it. No crucible or strikes till then for this guy it seems. Luckily the campaign is legit.

I'd like to know this as well. Really enjoying these story missions, but the fact that they are not selectable on the map afterwards makes me wonder if these are one and done kind of things.

(I mean, I guess there could always be the Daily Mission type thing - but I'd also rather like to just be able to replay some of these segments again cause they are a blast!)

I'm not really a fan of how upgrade points and all that work. I think I preferred the first game's leveling system. All I'm finding is that completing those optional Adventure Missions that reward you with an upgrade point end up just basically leaving you with a flashing icon on your menu telling you to spend extra points even though you don't meet the level requirements for any slots you haven't bought yet.

I'm assuming they're gonna end up being used on our other subclasses, but it all just seems like an oddly misguided way of trying to convince the player they have some sort of freedom of choice, when really they're just unlocking things along a linear path as they progress through the story, and being given the option to pick from one of something from a cluster of unlocks.

It makes sense in a game with an actual skill tree where eventually when all is said and done, despite being at the level cap and without any upgrade points, you're not gonna be capable of filling every slot in the tree, like most RPGs do, but eventually we are going to fill every slot, so it seems kind of useless to let us manually pick and choose. They should just unlock automatically as we level up.

But in those games isn't it the same way? Everyone who cares to be at top end grinds out the same gear which makes it hardly rare or exclusive?

Nessus question:

Do you not go into the huge dome areas? The sea part is cool, but it would be awesome to explore that big thing.

I still wish there were better ways to get stuff like Trials gear for PvE focused players. I never got to go to the Lighthouse in D1 because I wasn't good at PvP but I just wanted to see the location because Osiris is my favorite lore character. Plus that gear looked hot

Agreed. There really wasn't anything like that available for the PVE players. No regularly occurring events, that granted you super rare gear and access to a unique location. The Queen's Wrath event was the only one, but even it didn't have something like the Lighthouse, and it was in 2014. It did grant you one of rarest ships in the game though, but I'd rather have something I can actually use when playing the game.

I'm pretty disappointed about the lack of an in-game grimoire. The lore tabs are nice, but I wish once you've viewed one it was added to something like mass effect's codex for viewing later.

I'll always like how Guildwars 2 handled that: All top end gear has the same stats, just different looks. The "endgame" is more about collecting them for skins and "fashion wars" then any sort of gameplay advantage ala WoW.
