Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Accept that it's horribly hammy. That's the entire game. It's a step up from Destiny. Which had nothing. But yea, it's not great
Yeah. It's at least got a personality this go.

But the story and dialogue in these games can absolutely improve, and I hope it does because the gameplay and world they've made is so incredible.

That said, the story for Destiny 2 is easily the best they've done, and those cutscenes focused solely on Dominus Ghaul go a long way to the point that the final fight means something. Good shit, all things considering.

My god the dialogue sucks in this game "that thief looks even thievier than the other thieves!" And the ghost (a cybernetic robot being) keeps referring mechanisms and gadgets as "thingies" like he's talking to a child. Which is the target audience of the writers apparently...

Fuck.
Yeah it's pretty bad.
I actually facepalmed when Gaul said
"we're not so different, your Traveler and I"

the thieves line is one thing, but I kind of think the ghost lines are charming. who knows, maybe it's Stockholm syndrome already.

Let's just be honest, Cayde lines, always good because Nathan Fillion's delivery is magic. Therefore, replace all characters with Nathan Fillion. Ghost Fillion please.

No fun allowed. I like how the ghost is kid like and non serious. It adds to personality.

I actually really like the writing.

Destiny 1 was incredibly serious, it had near zero jokes, everything was light, darkness etc. It was just dull as fuck. Now it's.. kinda funny. I actually think about the lines.

There's no point doing strikes once you're 260+ right? Or did I miss something? Just faster farming PE/chests, etc.

they only reason you'd farm strikes is if you're to the point where blues that are past 275(you have to be like 284) can be infusion fuel, AND you really want vanguard marks to get nightshade or nameless midnight. then again you get the option of those 2 guns from a milestone completion and nightfall is a faster group of vanguard marks

@rdytoroll

only if you happen to absolutely love the weapon. you could infuse it up later instead of having to fish for it dropping at higher power. otherwise no, the legendary shards are worth far more than low power purples

Having my most powerful kinetic and energy weapons both be hand cannons is so annoying. Somewhat annoyed that the infusion system was changed from Destiny 1 to where you need the same type of weapon.

I have a really annoying crucible quest thing to shut down someone during their special.

I've done it twice but it isn't marked as completed, anyone else have this issue? Frustrating because I HATE multi in this and supers happen like once-twice a match per opponent.

Are you sure you're the one that got the kill and someone else didn't do it?

Awww man I turned my stuff in early. Got some speed exotic boots for my hunter and a legendary rocket launcher. There are only like lvl 15 requirement though since I just started playing crucible right away lol.

I can infuse them with other high level gear right? I think these boots will be forever.

Quick question. If I only completed the first planet in D1, is it worth carrying over that character?

I've heard that the D1 characters look not to great when transferred over.

Nope, shard them.

Either infuse them or shard them. Since rolls aren't different this time around, you'll get the same gun again eventually.

Thanks guys. My vault was filling up a bit with low power legendaries. Time to shard some lol

I thought the whole point of quickmatch was not to have this ridiculous skill based matchmaking?

As a solo player i encounter nothing but stacked parties/clans that just teamshoot anything.
Also encountered lots of out of my region players like stacked parties from russia that take 0 damage and kill me in 1 frame.

I guess pvp is going to be trash again, i mean they cant even get the most basic thing.. dedicated servers.

And they removed the latency bar why exactly? because they know p2p is horrible

Just finished the campaign. What an amazing experience. The set pieces throughout are jaw dropping, and the nice little surprise/discovery at the end with the final mission was just perfect. What a brilliant way to close that chapter.

Also, got this bad boy from the
exotic engram you get from Zavala.

Lmao that line actually had me laughing. I like how corny the dialogue gets. You can never please everyone unfortunately.

Any quick guide what to do and not to do after hitting lvl 20 a finishing up the story?

What not to do until you get to 260+:
- Nightfall Strikes

- Flashpoints

- World Quests (As they give you Exotic weapon quests and they scale depending on your PL)

- Crucible's Weekly Call to Arms

What to do after you finish campaign:
- Public Events (Especially Heroic ones)

- Looting chests around the destinations (Especially regional chests)

- Turning in tokens to faction vendors (You get legendary engram every time you fill their reputation bar. Keep in mind that they cap at 265)

- Strikes

- Crucible

That's all I have in mind. I'm sure there are others who can help you more.

Haven't been posting in here, been too absorbed in the game for the last couple of days.

Going to echo what other's have said on the great soundtrack this game has, especially the music piece you hear after the first mission.

Grind to 260 is kinda boring. I'm really not liking just doing patrols over and over. Can't wait to get to 260 and start doing the milestones and some strikes instead tbh.

Can I join a faction like Deadlrbit in Destiny 1? If so I'm 214 right now, should I start trading in my EDZ tokens? Is there a specific faction is guild focus on? There's always that one OP faction weapon.

I've been doing strikes from 180-230.

I haven't even bothered to finish the campaign (better than the first but the writing LOL).

Destiny 2 has the same appeal to me as Destiny 1, nice art, unrivaled gunplay, but I hate every other thing about how it works.

My biggest disappointment is the warlock "shit a buff on the floor" ability. It's so lame.

It's nice to see my terrible luck with loot has followed me from FFXIV. I've gotten five legendary engrams today and all of them have had helmets inside.

Rule of thumb:

Finish the story. You level pretty consistently to 200 power just that way. Then:

If the rewards are blue engrams, do it right away.
If the rewards are tokens, do it right away.
If the rewards are legendary or "powerful gear", wait until you hit 260 power.

Slightly longer:

Public events and world events (like Scavengers and High Value Targets) are great ways to get XP and blue engrams as rewards.
Lost Sectors can be done once per week (not sure on frequency) and are great way to get blue engrams after you beat the story.
Zone Chests can only be done once ever, but the rewards are tokens. Do whenever.
Adventures scale to your power, good post story content.
World Quests typically give legendary or exotic rewards, wait til 260.
Challenges can give legendary rewards, wait til 260.
Milestones give legendary rewards, wait til 260.
Cayde-6's treasure maps give legendary or exotic rewards, wait til 260.

I think that's everything.
Thanks for this.

I wanted to ask what the differences between a strike, nightfall, and raid are?

Just turn in what you have. Each zone has its own tokens and materials. EDZ tokens are actually a great way to level up. At level 214 you might get lvl 220 legendaries. This also goes for the gunsmith, dismantle everything thats outmatched by your latest drops, including purples and turn in those parts.

Find chests, grind public events, High value targets etc and turn in those tokens.

Thanks for this.

I wanted to ask what the differences between a strike, nightfall, and raid are?

Strikes are match-made team activities that are like story missions and at moderate difficulties, and can be ground for moderate level loot. Usually around 10-20 mins each.

Nightfalls are more difficult versions of strikes, without auto-matchmaking. They usually have modifiers, such as time limits, etc. Better loot. Once per character, per week, if nothing's changed?

Raids are also not match-made, and allow for teams of 6 instead of 3, but longer than strikes, usually multiple bosses, more intricate mechanics, and really good loot. This is the top of the pyramid. Until you really get good at them, it's hard to predict how long they take to complete. Usually hours, early on.
