Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

You better message me the second a spot opens up. I'm double dipping cause of you!

Sure thing man, I'll keep an eye on anyone leaving.

I've never actually done raids in D1 and have a few questions about them.

I know they're long but do you have to do the entire thing in one go or are their checkpoints?

Are guided raids just raids with matchmaking? If so how will it work? All solos or it can match you up with pre-made groups and stuff?

Every boss is effectively checkpoint so no need to run whole thing in one go.

Guided games, at least how I have understood it, is clan group offering to take in outsider and guide him through experience. Not sure how many outsider systems allows and even then when it comes to raids you may not want more than 2 total outsiders.

Just because you have no way of knowing their gear level and skill level with game so you want enough clan to have carry power.

So matchmaking in a way, but not really in traditional sense.

Between a newborn, work and playing the game at any chance I can get I haven't had the chance to pop into the OT. Thought I'd share a few of my moments with some very familiar names:

Looking forward to the PC release.
Also are there any clans looking for a active PvE player? I'd love to join.

I like him, but they made him a bit too dumb this time around imo.

I hate Failsafe though.

Failsafe sucks ass. The punchlines if you wanna call them that are so on the nose and delivered so poorly. No nuance or wit whatsoever.

If there was a MT to remove the other voice I'd gladly consider paying for it but ultimately choose not to because I'm cheap.

These consumable shaders are rubbish. I mean I've got a fair few of them now but I know there is zero point in using them as I'm still changing armour every 10 minutes as better stat stuff drops.

I mean it essentially means I can't customise my warlock, my ship etc for the vast majority of the game which is a bit sad. I've got a lovely shiny green watermelon shader but only 3 of them and I don't want to use them as I might not get them back.

Makes me a bit sour really, I was always changing shaders on a whim in D1.

You completed it with more than two clan members in your fireteam? Will be doing it tonight so can't say but that would be the only thing, though you probably are well aware.

Not yet. But aren´t you supposed to get a reward when your clan completes it?

i got a crucible reward for example.

Just use them anyway. You'll get plenty as you play

Failsafe was the best ! Hawthorne sucked (hated her ), devram was a bore .

Adventures for failsage were quite funny imo

Different strokes and all......

I suppose but I'd be just tossing them away at this stage, I'm only PL 216 so new better gear is dropping all the time. I assume the common ones drop regularly but even so, it seems antithetical to the ethos of 'owning' how your guardian looks. Ah well.

Man the loop in this game feels so good compared to the last. Just a quick example from the EDZ:

  • Go to do the Cayde-6
    patrol
    mission.
  • Public event on the way, help a blueberry with it.
  • Do the mission, milestone to complete 3
    patrols
    comes up. May as well.
  • Inbetween second and third, see another public event and heroic it with three others. Get an exotic engram from it.
  • Do the third. Think I'll send my tokens into Devrim before I go decrypt the engram.
  • Oh one token shy of Legendary Engram. Better just nip to the lost sector and grab one.
  • Get out of it, see public event. May as well. Notice another Lost Sector on the way, may as well - have a couple of minutes before the event.
  • Turn into Devrim, go back and decrypt Engrams, turn in quest to Cayde-6.

Only intended to do one quick mission. Absolutely loving this, feels like Destiny but just so much better.

Man The Rattler is such a fun sidearm. Torn between using it or Sunshot (for the boom boom fun)

Felt the exact same about those characters

I just loved the sarcasm through her lines . As a Scotsman , I could identify . Her happy voice was hilarious . Her character felt fleshed out .

The other New NPCs were so forgettable.

Wow! Hawthorne is my favourite character in D2, and up there with my favourites in the Destiny universe.

Failsafe was awesome though!

I don't know , it just fell forced for her . Typical bad ass lady character etc , but the "toughness " never came across .

My fav games of this year have been horizon and hellblade , but Hawthorne just feels cheap to me . I know she's an NPC and not really comparobale , but failsafe really struck a chord , I thought it was great writing . Hawthorns stuff seemed generic to me .

Glad your enjoying D2 though !

Ahh ok cool, thanks.

Another question though, how do the checkpoints get saved? Is it a checkpoint for the whole group or is it just for the team leader? Can I play with a group upto a particular checkpoint and then continue with an entirely other group?

Everyone in raid group gets checkpointed so if you wanted to you could change groups and continue from your checkpoint, as long you were group leader when going in.

Checkpoints in D1 were when arriving to boss room and after killing the boss.

Great, thanks again! I was kinda worried seeing all the mentions of raids taking up hours and hours at release.

Well that is the best way to experience a raid, from start to finish with the same group. It's very frustrating when people quit midgame.

So do prepare 4 hours for the first run with a new group :D

I definitely will but some of the mentions of 10+ hours had me worried lol. But by the time I get to it, I'll probably be playing with people who have already cleared it anyway.

People are saying best way to level past 270 is to have a second character of the same class?

I don't know if I can be bothered doing that hmmmm

My biggest problem with the game was the story.

I've always wanted Destiny to make me feel something like Star Wars.

Instead it's like a Marvel movie. Fun but ultimately forgettable with a throwaway villain.

  • World quests
  • Following exotic weapon quests
  • Exotic Engrams from activities
  • Nightfall
  • Cayde's treasure maps

I'd really like to push against Bungie hard on this. There doesn't seem to be much vocal outcry though. If there was we might be able to get them to back off on shaders.

Just got The Wardcliff Coil from a legendary engram. Holy shit, this weapon has to be one of the best heavies. Fires multiple rockets at once, and auto-reloads whenever you pickup heavy ammo.

Repost due to not getting an answer, not to be a nuisance but can anyone help us out? We are in the dark on this.

A group of us want to get this on PC, but we all have varying levels of time to be able to commit to it. How much will that matter in the post game? Will there be a substantial difference between someone who has 60 hours vs someone who has 90-100? Or even like 200-250?

Originals man, originals.

If the raid is anything like Destiny 1 light levels that's the biggest hurdle.

Once you get over that hump you'll be fine. It's not a huge time investment at all. Destiny ia a very casual game and isnt at all like an MMO for prep.

Just got my Mida! Dropped at 288 strength from the quest, pushing me up to 272. Think I'll just grind to 275-280 and take it easy after that.

The amount of exotics dropping in this game is bit too much (quests aside), makes me wonder if they plan to add another tier. I've gathered around 11 exotics since launch, in D1 I probably got 2 in my first month, excluding Xur sales and nightfall.

The writing wasn't great in general. A step up from D1. But pretty much anything was. Also the story direction was just weak. I can spin off at least three or four alternative story directions that would have made it immensly more interesting off the top of my head. Or completely different story lines. As can I'm sure many here can as well. Hell when we were theorycrafting back in D1 days many here we're coming up with plot points that would have blown this away.

This is one of the few times I wish the creators had taken a close look at the prevailing fan fiction type stuff and rolled with it.

It's a great thing, that will show if the game has legs outside the grind for exotics. Last people spent hundreds of hours just to get a few exotics. The game shouldn't count on RNG to carry their players interest.

Thank you for this clarification on Infusing/Mods, I'm just starting to get to the point where that's going to be a thing for me and was looking for clarification. I burned my EDZ rep stuff a bit early (took me from 232 to 245) but I'm honestly enjoying just playing the game so not gonna stress about it. I haven't been posting or looking at the thread at all because all I want to do is actually play the game which is a good thing!

Any time :). Ive reposted it 3 or 4 times but thread moves fast so it gets buried and same questions come up.

Hey, a fellow Scotsman. Maybe it's just us who love her 🤔
