Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Rat king quest is enraging me.

It took 3 planets and cycling between 3 fireteams to finally proceed past the public event portion. Now, 3 PvP matches and 3 strikes later I'm still stuck on stage 3.

What am I doing wrong? Every guide just says be in a fire team. Everyone in my party has the damn weapon but I'm not reading anything about having the quest as a requirement.

Most folks won't know they need to hold on to milestone/mission rewards until 265 because the game doesn't really tell you otherwise that the cap for blues is 260 and the soft cap for vendor legendaries is 265 until you're way past it.

The stress is unnecessary, getting above a certain level right now is not going to change until the reset anyways, and chances are Bungie is going to make the Raid in a level that is tough to reach but not near impossible for most who put in the effort. And 265-270 seems likely.

Of course we won't find out until tuesday though.



the main thing folks under 280 missed that others didn't is that milestone/mission rewards when they're powerful gear need to be hoarded unlike every other reward. That's essentially it. Starting Tuesday you can keep going and from now on correct that.

Yeah this is true. It isnt like you need to be 280 by tuesday. 270 will likely be enough to do the raid, and even if it isnt, the raid isnt going anywhere.

Although I disagree that a lot of research beforehand is required. As soon as I found out blues cap at 260 and legendaries (from vendors and engrams) cap at 265, it was immediately obvious to me to hoard the milestones and exotic quests until the end. That should have been obvious for any Destiny veterans, at the very least. I picked up on the +5 mods thing as I went along just because I am hyper analytical amd was watching what happened with my infusions. I kinda intuited it right away, and confirmed it after infusion both ways (no +5 into a +5 item and vice versa) a couple times.

But yeah the average player def doesnt need to stress out over it all. The game is super fortiving with power level increases and week 2 will make it even easier, and each week after that.

What stage are you stuck on? If they have the quest done already and have the weapon, it must be equipped. At least that's been my experience.

With how hard it is to even get to 280, I'm convinced the Raid must either be 260 or 270.

A lot of the players who are 280+ have multiple characters of the same class which does make it easier. Though I doubt Bungie is expecting every person to go into raiding in 3 days to have used the same method.

Odds are they don't want to repeat of Destiny's situation where most players couldn't do Vault of Glass due to how stingy drops were.

This narrative that 280+ players are mostly the folks that played multiple chars of the same class is just not true. I know a ton of folks that got 280+ on their first toon by simply planning things out and maximizing gains at every step. "Narrative" is probably a bit too strong a word to use, but I just dont want folks that WANT to max power before tuesday to buy into the belief that rerolling is the only way. It isnt even the most efficient way. I will have my 290 toon after only two characters of different classes.

Not a lot of folks had 80+hours free since wednesday to rerun multiple toons just for nightfall rewards (since milestones are only once per week per class).

I realize that some crazy fuckers did do that, but out of the dozen or so guys on xbox one that I run with that are 280s and 290s, only TWO played the same class multiple times. They are the guys 290+. 280+ is quite attainable with one toon if you plan properly. It only requires the tiniest bit of luck to hit 280 if you do things in the right order and max out from blues then purples before doing exotics quests and milestones. I say tiniest becsuse personally I believe it takes zero luck and loads of planning, but I will grant that getting stuck at 278 or 279 on first toon might happen even with planning if you get screwed on rewards being the wrong slot.

Dont feel bad. At least he didnt optimize. My warlock made it to 277 without doing a single exotic quest, or finishing the campaign, or doing the milestones. And I havent even got a couple armor slots maxxed. She will be 278 before I start milestones and exotics.

If I had time to finish my warlock and do my hunter by Tuesday (I wont have tims), I would have a 284 titan, 289-290 warlock, and 292-295 hunter.

That is WITHOUT deleting and re doing any class at all. It really does boil down to optimization and only a small bit of luck.

PS - No offense intended btw Graverobber. As long as you enjoy it mate thats all that matters. Also I am not insinuating you deleted and rerolled, as obviously you didnt or you would be higher. Best optimize better next time though. ;)

I'm not sure about the first part but I think they just continue scaling close to your level. Right now I'm hovering between power 278 and 280 but some blues are dropping at 274. When I was capped at 270/265 blues were dropping lower than that. My legendaries of course are coming in higher though.

The Asher quest on Io rewards you with a
linear fusion rifle
and Evrim on earth gifts you the
mida mini-tool

You need to complete the Nightfall with more than five minutes remaining on the timer. It's somewhere in the riddle near the last sentence.

Which step are you on? If its the step with the riddles to solve, they have to be done in order. I tried to do crucible first and it wouldnt progress. IIRC the patrols had to be done first.

I wouldnt be surprised if they have to be done on the same planet you get the quest too, but that might be reaching.

Titan and Hunter follow suit at 280+

I haven't done 2 Exotic Quests on Warlock, none on the other 2, they still need to be the Main Campaign from Mission #3

I still have Zavala's Special Reward waiting for Titan and Hunter when I finish the campaigns

I never deleted or created same class.
I just did EDZ loop over and over, only took 2 Powerful Gear Rewards by quickly pressing, but now I know better.
Not much of a loss as you say, maybe a 3-5 Power Level loss that will be made up in no time

1. Patrols
2. Events
3. crucible
4. NF with 5mins remaining

Umm... I just started this Hunter... Like 13 hours ago...

You can tell I invested my time into Warlock the most to learn everything, now my Titan and Hunter will benefit from it. Things will get done quicker and more streamlined, so hours may look little but damn sure I'm fucking efficient.

Poor audio: Subjective, I know and I also know what you mean. Some weapons do sound a little underwhelming but I really feel like those weapons are in the minority.

Visual feedback on weapons: That I really don't understand at all.

Just a few examples:

Man O' War fusion rifle
Look how the "horns" light up when the shot charges.

Sunshot hand cannon
Look at the little flames that come out on top after shooting the gun and the barrel starts glowing after a few shots.

Many Omolon weapons
Look at the liquid reservoir that shows you the state of your magazine and you can see the liquid moving when you are running/jumping around.

Borealis sniper rifle
You can change the element of the weapon by holding down square and the current element is visualized.

These are just a few examples and I know not every weapon in the game will have some super cool visual gimmick but that just makes legendaries and exotics more special. It would be quite boring if every green or blue weapon looked like some super awesome special weapon.

Visual feedback on enemies: Also not sure what you mean. Vex literally fall apart when you shoot at their limbs just like in D1. Other races also react to shots when they get staggered. I swear I had a Cabal drop their shoulder back after staggering them with a shot to the arm. That could have been a coincidence but it felt pretty cool at that moment.
Again, I understand that not every shot can lead to a visual reaction from every enemy, especially the stronger ones but I feel like this is at least on par with D1, if not even better.

Movement feels sluggish: Also something I can understand but I feel like it got better with unlocked abilities (boost when gliding for Warlock for example) or with better equipment that also adds to the movement stat. I also got the Mida Multi Tool / Mida Mini Tool combo, so I feel like I'm pretty quick since that combo boosts movement speed a little bit.


I'm not sure how far you are into the game and what your ability/gear situation looks like, but I feel like you either haven't spent enough time with the game to unlock some cooler stuff or your expectations are so incredibly high, that the things in the game don't live up to them. Also your memories of D1 could have a slight rose tint because of how you remember it after a bunch of expansions. I think the weapons and armors during vanilla D1 were quite boring from a visual feedback point of view.
 
Only 27 hours for me. Still haven't started on my 2nd and 3rd Characters.

Looking at my Destiny 1 playthrough (stopped at Vanilla Destiny). I'm surprised I played 210 hours. That's like a Fallout/Dragon Age/Mass Effect/Elder Scrolls playthrough for me.
 
I guess someone on the FT has to have the quest active or the gun CURRENTLY equipped or you don't get credit. I asked my friends to have the rat King equipped the whole strike this time and FINALLY got credit.

That would explain every public event, crucible match and previous strike through the stages of the quest that infuriatingly didn't count.

Sunshot has 270 power.

What would be Sunshot power if I infuse Sturm to it.

I don't like Sturm at all and well Sunshot is awesome. I got SS as 155 power from Story and been infusing hand cannons to it.

Sturm's other problem is the slot it takes (eats white ammo), I rather have Pulse Rifle / Autorifle / Scout Rifle in that slot.
 
The pvp is garbage. Played 10 rounds. 4/6 had leavers, resulting in absolute stomps. Either they need to heavily penalize leavers, or fix their matchmaking.
 
How do I find people for the nightfall?

First one for me in destiny 2 on PS4 and I need it for my 263 hunter.

Anyone interested in doing it in 25 minutes after this post?

You would get a 280 sunshot. The +5 mod used in Strum doesn't count toward the power level of the gun it's being infused into.
 
Finished the main campaign, haven't really touched anything in the rest of the game, although I'm reasonably spooked by the whole "hoard ______ if you want to hit 285+". I played a bunch of crucible accidentally so I know I fucked up at least one of the "powerful gear" rewards.

That said, where do I go from here? I don't really have anyone to do the raid with at the moment, but I'd like to keep the option open and hit at least 270 by Wednesday. I've seen some guides being linked to here and there but also posts being like "that's wrong don't do it that way". Anything definitive?
