"I'm sure he just doesn't know what he was saying and is super sorry" is a defence. One that PDP has long since lost the right to as well. The ๖ۜBronx;248550689 said:Fifth time it seems:
He's defending someone using racist slurs casually. Not sure how you think he's not taking a middle ground.

The way he spat out the n-word the first time was horrible.
It sounded like he says that kind of thing regularly when he's off camera.
Youtube should ban this guy already.
I can see how it's a complete catch 22 for youtubers.
If they speak up they're agreeing with a certain level of censorship and regulation on their content and videos
If they don't speak up then it's the feeling of standing in solidarity and feeling like they have control over the platform and the youtube community.
Even the most noblest of youtuber i imagine will just say something very non committal along the lines of "He shouldn't of said it, it's unfortunate. We'll see what/if anything happens" assuming they say anything at all.
He's 43.
Oh my. Some people do not learn as they grow do they?f
Boogie is already on record saying there is a middle ground between racists and anti-racists and that middle ground is a great place to be. Now he is spending his time expressing a great deal of concern over imaginary victims in a hypothetical scenario that does not exist instead of being concerned about PDP's racism and the influence he has over his audience. I'm not distorting anything.
Google hasn't given a shit about their platform being a haven for racists since it began. Look at the comments of any video involving a black person or someone from the Middle East. Their system actually makes racist shit more visible and prevalent.Of course they should. People have been banned for far less (typically thanks to their terrible shoot first, ask questions never copyright system but I digress).
What they should do and what they probably will do are two totally separate situations. Should they ban him? Absolutely. Will they? Probably not. Now, if more media outlets get a story up about this and more advertisers start to pull away from YouTube over this then maybe...
Youtube should ban this guy already.

"So there's today's wishy washy fence setting for you. Feel free to unleash the butthurt. I look forward to the neogaf thread."
Lol
It's actually incredibly easy to both come out and say "Hey fuck Pewdiepie that racist shitstain but also here are my reservations about developers using copyright takedown functionality in ways it's not intended to be used." You're not forced to be stuck in some weird position where you have to be lumped in with youtube shitters who are afraid to call out their own if you want to talk about the DMCA thing.I can see how it's a complete catch 22 for youtubers.

Welcome to Youtube, where your 6-year old kid can watch a few nice Minecraft videos, and then get slowly introduced to the alt-right. Youtube really needs to make large changes to its platform. Advertisers are starting to force their hands a bit now, because large brands don't want to be tied to these videos anymore since The Wall Street Journal reported about it and opened their eyes to the possible PR disasters waiting to happen.Slightly off topic, but this thread prompted me to watch a couple of his recent videos to see what his channel about, and its pretty bad. On a surface level its bad enough, but his opinions and views seem incredibly toxic. Given that his videos garner millions of views, its pretty scary to think about the amount of people, particularly children who are likely soaking up this garbage. YouTube needs to grow a spine and just ban him.

Isn't it sort of disconcerting to you that before Boogie 'condemned' (in the meekest way possible) what Felix said he first talked about how he was worried about how it would make YouTubers look?To be fair, you are assuming an awful lot there.
Imaginary victims? Not imaginary. Everyone suffered due to Felix being a bigot last time. Everyone.
Hypothetical scenario? This scenario already played out once, and it gimped youtube payouts to channels that were in no way vulgar or hateful. It could very easily happen again.
Racists and anti-racists? Sounds like a person's opinion that in no way hates on anyone. If he believes there are racists and anti-racists causing a middle ground somewhere, okay? I have no opinion there.
Boogie doesn't hate on anyone. He isn't a hateful person. He stands up for things that he believes is right, but he never attacks anyone. That is why he is standing up for other youtubers that could be affected by a bigot Felix once again.
That pathetic, sad, little billionaire who you'd think would have better things to do with his time than whine about "SJWs" on social media is a pathetic, dad, little excuse of a person.Man Notch really wants to die on this hill going by his tweets

I wonder how he's going to handle damage control. I can see him clinging on to the weak "context people, it matters" argument so he can keep his edgy fans happy.

How fucking twisted is your moral compass that you think of yourself and income before the actual blatant racism on display?

There's nothing to 'judge'. He used his platform and stature to say racism is less of a big deal than DMCA strikes on gaming videos. It's not his job to judge. His job, the thing he does to bring in money for his family is youtube content. Nothing about his moral compass. I would be concerned if he came out endorsing it.
What he said there makes sense and it's why Boogie is on of the very few personalities I even watch anymore.
He isn't defending Pewdiepie or what he said. He is defending the right to free speech on media platforms for those that AREN'T blatantly racist. That is who he means when he says "those caught in the middle". Meaning those that could be punished because of the act of one personality.
We have the official term when youtubers won't call out their own.
Yeah. I mean, it's bad enough if he used the word as a friendly term.I really don't see any way of him getting around this. He's clearly using the word in a negative way because shortly after saying it he then says 'what a fucking asshole' suggesting that he was using the word as an insult.
He knows he fucked up as well.
He has again and again gone out of his way to defend sexists, transphobes, and racists. Fuck Boogie. It's not his job to judge. His job, the thing he does to bring in money for his family is youtube content. Nothing about his moral compass. I would be concerned if he came out endorsing it.

Honestly, if Pewds were anyone else  a Hollywood actor, a top lawyer, anyone  hed get banned from his career. It would be a major misstep. Absolutely no one would care nor defend him either, especially half the people defending PewDiePie now, because theyd know he essentially committed career suicide.
But in gaming, were acting like we get to re-imagine what is culturally acceptable and insist he didnt mean it that way as if we get to re-appropriate a word. We argue that to defend his use of the slur is to defend everyones right to free speech, not realizing you can defend free speech and still condemn someones speech as toxic at the same time.
How often do you just casually let slip the n-word as an insult?I still do not believe that he truly is a racist or white supremacist. Of course as a man in his position it is the uttermost wrong thing to say, but I do not feel like he is a staunch racist.
Of course he does. There's no doubt about it.
Yep, seems pretty clear he does. Just been smart enough to not say it on camera until now.
Because it is. Think of when you get angry and frustrated do you just start saying stuff you never say? Do words you NEVER use pop in your head and you start using them at that exact moment? Of course not, so one can make an educated conjecture that this is something he had familiarity with saying and just got caught saying it while using his platform.
Notch built the hill and has been living there for quite some time now. He's full on alt right.Man Notch really wants to die on this hill going by his tweets
