Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I dismantled my first exotic gear because it got outpowered early because I forgot you can upgrade its power. what a noob mistake.

Thanks. I played the original around launch and quite enjoyed it, but ended up stopping before the expansions came out. With this I am kinda on the fence as i'm not too sure what to expect. Basically I loved the gameplay from the original, as well as some of the exploration. But it felt a bit thread bare at times. Also non of my friends had the game so I felt like I was missing out on a lot of content, which I am worried may be the same case with the new one.

The expansions where the redeeming events that made the game into a proper almost-classic. Is with the expansions that the game got cooler and fully.

With the rate at which people are getting exotics in this game, you'll be fine. Plus there are
4 exotic quests after you complete the campaign
.

I can't speak for anybody else but I personally do not like using them in D2. I loved me some Black Spindle in D1 but I'd rather use just about any other power weapon in this game. Haven't found a sniper rifle that I love yet.

Anyone find any dope ones yet?

I like Shepherd's Watch a lot. It is a "medium" impact sniper with a short zoom scope and has Moving Target, so strafing and lining up headshots is easier as Moving Target activates better aim assist.

Gotta say, with all the hubbub surrounding shaders, I'm glad that you can individually apply them to weapons. Got a sexy black and gold one on my pulse rifle.

Show of Force seems like the best PvE sniper I've come across.

Thing is that slot is almost always going to be occupied by Wardcliff Coil or Merciless for PvE as things stand (unless exotic swords come out of the raid or something) so I just don't ever find a reason to have a sniper equipped. May need one for the raid if DPS phase target is not close enough to fully utilize Merciless, I guess.

I don't like Nessus. The art is pretty and I like the music, but there's so much random clutter everywhere and nooks and cubby holes aplenty, so nothing really stands out beyond the spawns.

Titan grew on me and I haven't spent much time on Io, but it's gorgeous.

Titan is just amazing. Great exterior design, great interior design. Is a sci-fi environment but is believable.... except the scale of all of it, that is awe inspiring.

IO is like some half-assed version of Venus they had around the harddisc. Unnecesary planet with too littel going for it.

The game don't really need two Vex planets.

Nessus is... okay, if you are into Vex architecture, but It seems that I am tired of it. Is kind of random and repetitive. Nessus is amazing designed, but still inspire too littel on me. Also the crashed ship area is kind of hazardous done, I would have liked a proper huge crater more.

Earth is okay. It have variety to it, I guess.

We have to still see the raid enviroments ( Nessus starting area, Leviathan areas) these will be amazing if the old raids are a indication of future perfomance :D

Congrats man.

What did you get for doing all 3? Just faction rep or did she give you an exotic when you levelled up the faction?

Completing each mission will give you a few tokens used to increase rep. She's like all the others, you get legendary gear with each new rep level.

D2 app is so unintuitive. Why couldn't we just go check our gear right from the main page. Instead, it has all this clutter.

I'm power level 274 and pretty much capped until the reset. Done all the powerful gear milestones etc. Can I still level with exotic engrams or do they have power level caps like rares and legendaries?

Exotics can still move you forward, they will drop at 5 over the legendary power level (then also always come equipped with a +5 mod). So if your legendaries are dropping at 267 or whatever, exotic engrams will drop at 272 and result in a 277 item.

Reached 215, just got to Io. So far, this is so much better than the 1st in many ways. Seems the grind to level up gear is similar to how it was in in D1. Got myself a Sparrow, boy i missed it.

Good to know, thanks. Guess I'll play some heroic public event today!

I'm really enjoying this game. It feels so much more engaging and rewarding to play through, for me, than the original did.

Finished the main story, just shy of 25 hours. It was much better than Destiny 1. So much better. More grounded, yet dramatic and exciting, more character-driven and with a good momentum. It moves through cool, beautiful locations, there are fun set-pieces and quieter moments. The last couple of missions are just fantastic, epic, satisfying pay-off. The soundtrack is gorgeous. It's everything I wanted back when I was booting up Destiny 1 for the first time.

All I did alongside it was some adventures, public events and a couple of lost sectors that I stumbled across. I've got a fair few legendaries and exotics already. All my subclasses are fully levelled. I'm drowning in mods and shaders. And now everywhere I look there's something to do, which will net me some more goodies.

Each map has an npc, who will reward me just for spending time in their zone. The 3 vanguards have their own separate activities to do, with rewards to earn. The gunsmith is waiting for all those materials from the gear I scrap. Lord Shaxx wants me to jump into the crucible. Anywhere I go, I'm heading towards something rewarding. It feels great. I can't wait to properly spend some time and really explore these maps now. And I haven't done a single strike yet.

Of course it helps that the simple act of playing the game is fun on it's own. I've always loved the feel of Bungie gameplay, and they knocked it out the park with this one. Destiny 1 felt great already, and for me part 2 is a nicely refined step up in quality. It's different, but not too different. It's built on the foundation that was already there, and quietly improved. For me, the new system of 2 main weapons is brilliant. Quickly switching between the 2 during fights, against shielded or unshielded enemies, just feels so good. I wasn't sure about the change at first, but already I don't think I could go back.

All in all, bravo Bungie and everyone who worked on this game. Well done. Destiny is going places now, and I can't wait to see what's next.

So Snipers are totally useless in PVE, right ?
Yeah I loved my Black Hammer and 1000-Yard-Stare in D1 but I barely use them in D2. I've got a few scout rifles that are good for headshots at distance and I'd rather have a fusion rifle or sword in my power weapon slot. Barely used rocket launchers either and only used a grenade launcher on that one mission on Titan that gives you one.

Anyone find any dope ones yet?
Widow's Bite seems okay. 6 round club with the rapid fire perk and increased accuracy, stability and handling when crouched. I've got the Borealis and D.A.R.C.I. but haven't really used them.

Snipers still feel good to fire, but just a huge wasted to have as your power weapon. For PVE that is.

Shotguns are the same. Just totally gimped in PVE. Always better off with sword/rocket/grenade/even fusion.

As for PVP, I got to the lighthouse many a time with snipers, but I don't mind them being as heavy ammo. Same for shotguns, because I think we can all agree they were far too prevalent.

Do things slow down at 250? I am 251 and all my blue drops are at or below my Power Level
Blue go up to 264 that I've seen fairly common. I believe the max for blues is 265, but its rare to have them drop at that. Blues should still frop easily up yo 260-264, so keep at it. It just slows down a bit at that stage since its rarer they come out higher.

My blues currently drop at 273, so 265 isn't the max.

Agree with the sentiment regarding snipers. I rarely, if ever, use one. I know it sounds cliche but something like Icebreaker or Black Spindle would do wonders for it. Their effectiveness in PvE has been greatly diminished.

I can't get enough of the music that plays (late story spoilers)
at the Tower when you return
. I know the music being great has been said a lot but the way it builds and comes in is amazing. Favourite tracks have to be The Last City, The Farm and Journey. Beautiful emotions brought up with them (yes, I'm a sop). Among with so many other improvements, the way it permeates through is wonderful.

Here's the track in question - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQqKJHvpYxo

Best OST I've bought in a long time.

Shotguns are another thing I've only used once. No reason to use one over my sword that gives heavy ammo with powered strike kills.

Yeah those 'heavy' swords are awesome.

But shotguns are generally a bit crap for bosses as most of them have gnarly melee attacks. So it's too high risk for too little reward. Shotguns used to be fun in PVE for jumping into a group of ads and blasting them away, but just can't find a use for them in my playstyle now.

You best not be playing a Titan guardian.

I alternate between Merciless for bosses and Tractor Cannon for general zaniness. Hell, TC does some respectable damage against normal bosses as well, as long as they're not too big.

I am. What does that have to do with anything? I do fly around shoulder charging bosses and melee'ing them and using my up close ults on them, but that's fine as you have good mobility and still do more damage than with the shotguns.

MY sword is the Crown-Splitter so it looks like an actual proper claymore or something rather than the other space-y swords. It's great.

In fact, I can't think of a single reason to use a shotgun over a sword.

Swords are better for ads. Better for bosses. Do more dps. Have way more ammo. Way better mobility. You can shield with them if you need. And some of the swords generate their own heavy ammo.

Yeah I think they need go look into giving shotties slightly more DPS and ammo.

Man PVP with bad teammates is truly next gen awful. It's fun with a team that understands teamshots and angles but it's awful without. Also is anyone noticing way more people meleeing then teleporting than in D1? Like straight up meleeing you then suddenly they're behind you when they were in front.

Yep.

After being really gutted about Marty leaving, I'm pleasantly surprised to find that my fears about him being irreplaceable were unfounded.

Of course it helps that the new soundtrack has talent like Kronos Quartet involved. Gods amongst men, they are.
