Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Great to hear, thanks for the input. Can't wait to dive in.

Also, we were attempting the final step of the Rat King quest and it didn't work out well. But at least we beat it first try which was unexpected.

I definitely think the audio is a step down, but the visual feedback for kills is still super satisfying to me. Ah well.

Man, I couldn't feel more different about the audio. That first shotgun Hawthorne gives you punches with the "buh-ching" at the end of the shot, and sparked a sincere love of a large number of the gun sounds in the game. The Wardcliff Coil has me wasting heavy just to hear it shoot out.

Haven't looked into the exotic quests yet (bar the one which seems to imply you need to wait for the raid) but I'm glad you made it and look forward to having that luck when I do so myself.

Finished my first Nightfall, after all those tried, finally first win!

Was 277 Warlock, received a 281 Widow's Bite (Sniper Rifle. Infused into my 280 Borealis, jumped to 286!

Went from 277 to 280 Exactly.

Then all those Mod stockpiles I had trading all those materials and from Bright Engrams

Now, so many Purples!

My Titan and Hunter when BiS with Weapon set jump +2 more PL than previous
Now Hunter and Titan are both 274 after slotting Legendary Mods to Armor that had empty slots!

I'm up for a Nightfall if anyone wants to join, preferably, with some experience, and 265+. I REALLY want this done for, but the team I'm on always fail with about 25% - 50% left of the last boss' HP.

PSN: SuperYlvis

Help please! :D

If you want another game for September, look into buying M E T R O I D on 3DS

yea the sound of the game even the truster from jumping sound too bassy... that and the music... which is amazing but come the fuck on bungle let us turn it down individually its the the sound effects and music constantly collide with one another one is either too loud or the other, and least with my shitty headphones, the game play and guns are the shit though pvp feels tighter with 4v4. i love it....

So is there any chance of a clan invite or does gaf have one? Im new to Destiny and am not sure how everything works. My username is Hephaestus85.

Same. I'm loving the audio. The sound/feel on the Three Graves pulse is particularly *kisses fingers*

Yeah the Rat king requires some planning for sure. I'm still working on it.

I think having hard light helps. And at least with my hunter equipped with celestial and the solar burn modifier active... it puts in work on those bosses.

I think you've solved your own problem right there. Sound design is in-fucking-credible. A good set of cans or hell, even a basic 2.0 setup sounds glorious. D2 in my HT is something to behold.

Seriously disappointed at how bad the female titans look. it seriously seems like their rig is just wrong.

I don't see why they need such a stupid pose on them in the character menu.

Yup, I use surround setup and the audio in this game is amazing.

Huge improvement over D1. At least it seems the armor is much better resized for the female body this time. Shame we can't change their poses in menu tho.

Is it really about just hoping for Blue drops and rewards from 200-265ish?

I'm 217 now and the rewards I'm getting from drops, rewards, etc are like 1 or 2 points higher (and a lot of them are equal or lower)...at this rate I can run all of the remaining side missions (not World Quests) and Lost Sectors/Golden Chests and probably only get into the 220s unless I start to get a lot better luck

I wouldn't say that.

I don't know what it is, but that entire character menu just looked nicer at least with your player in Destiny 1

Looks like your full as well.

Any interest from enough people to start another GAF clan?

There's a few of us in a small Clan if you want that are also (mostly on GAF). Can invite you if you want and we can even help out. Some of us are US east coast, some are west coast US etc. Message me if you want

4th MIDA incoming, will be over 300 light I imagine. I can't decide whether to infuse the previous one into Skyburners Oath or Nameless Midnight, though :(.

300 or higher Sturm coming as well, but that goes Sunshot. 3rd one will go some other handcannon.

NO idea what are good Legendary HC's, Auto's, or Scouts at the moment though. I heard Uriel's Gift was insane....

Argh.

Depends on the armor you use. But most of them looked awful in D1, especially the armors in Year 2 and 3. D2 def looks way better on female bodies, imo. The helms also no longer look like fat heads on them.

Yeah I know it depends on the armor you use, I mean shit I think my hole gripe is seriously this useless t-poseish pose they put on the titans.

Woah seriously? The female titans in D1 looked HORRENDOUS. It's a gigantic improvement in D2. Their armor looked small and dinky in D1 like a female bloodelf. Now we actually have realistic ratios. I also love the new pose. To each his own I guess!

Haha, yea, the pose sucks. I dunno why they just stand there bored. Hunters and Warlocks have better menu poses.

Would've been cool if they let people choose a pose.

Just started a Warlock this morning. Never played one in D1, mainly played Titan with a little bit of Hunter. Question, and I'm being serious, how the fuck do you jump with this class? It's terrible. Is the first one the best? Damn, if there's a jumping puzzle in the raid, rip.

Anyone else having issues understanding how the destiny app works? It’s so confusing, searching a fire team and such

The destiny app is complete shit. I can't find anything.

The bungie.net website is better and the DIM webpage is good for inventory management.

A quick tip I saw in a video:
Probably useful for the Rat King quest, raid-boss "damage phases" and any other timed missions.

Hunter Tether and Warlock Damage Rift give a multiplicative stacking damage bonus.

Tether is 35% increase, Rift is 30% increase.
Together they are a 75% increase (=1.3*1.35*100-100)

You can't combine it with the titan hammer strike weakness debuff (it overwrites the tether weakness debuff). So it looks like there are some safeguards against stacking insane buff multipliers.

I normally use the healing rift anyway, since standing still is too dangerous in most situations. Not dying is worth more than a 30% DPS buff.
I have a lot of fun with the arc subclass arc-ghost rift helper things in public events. Not sure how much damage the arc-ghosts do but it seems significant and looks cool. You can never have too much lighting.

Warlock can jump in D2 from what I heard.

Is this from leveling alts? If so, is there a ideal strategy (or even a guide) to exploiting alt leveling like this?

I always use Burst Glide. You just jump into the air and then activate it for a second and then hit jump again to land. You get the initial burst of speed and you can keep sprinting.

I don't see any need for any of the other glide traits. Unless you need make major adjustments mid glide.

The warlock made jumping puzzles easy in D1, the trick is to double tap when jumping as that will conserve the momentum and speed of the jump, then it is far more controllable than any of the others.

Double tap the jump button. The faster you double tap, the higher you'll go. Pressing jump again or ads should stop lifting you if you wanna drop.

I have a love hate relationship with warlock jumps lol I find it best for platforming, worst for fighting.

Double tap jump quickly for more vertical lift. If you wait to press jump a second time, it will slowly hover down instead.

Once you get your head around that, it's a great tool. Especially with the mid-glide shooting perk. Being able to reload and shoot whilst gliding in and out of battle is my bread and butter.

games fun but feels like things are missing.
guess it was unlikely that they would give d1 content level in 2. gottta wait for the expansions i guess.

also, why can you not choose your crucible playlist?

Oh shit lol. Thanks guys. This is what happens when you play hundreds of hours of only Titan.

So I see loads of people saying wait to do the Powerful Gear Milestones till I'm at least 265 (I'm only around 210 at the moment) but if they reset weekly and I havent done them yet, surely I might as well get what gains I can get out of them today before they reset tomorrow?

Yes!! Do not keep yourself from fun stuff, man.

God reading this thread bums me out sometimes.

I have a small clan (link in the clan section - Keep Wiping). It's about 3/4 gaffers, mostly playing at night EST. Feel free to join if that fits.

Ha, should combine these small clans and make one large. :)

I'm open for either, I'm on east coast so if that works better for either. My PSN account is: BigDawg1009 if you can send an invite. Thank you.

It's not really the armor, but the way the armor actually looks like graphically it looks better rendered in Destiny 1 I believe then in D2.

But yeah it's probably the pose.

Yeah I know hunters have a much better pose then the Titans by a long shot, and same with warlocks which have the best pose tbh. I don't understand why they can't just have the titans resting the gun on their shoulders.

I know there's at least one game that I have seen this done in.

That pose the spartan is doing I feel would work good on Titans but I dunno I'd need to see it in action to truly know for sure.

Finished the campaign yesterday and am at 214 right now.

The campaign kinda dragged there in the middle as it sent you to different planets pretty much ignoring the Cabal and the Red Legion. It hurt the pacing imo and felt too much like Destiny 1.

The final few missions starting from that level 15 mission were excellent. The visuals were gorgeous and the game really sells the final chapter with some great cutscenes and comm chatter. I was impressed.

Overall the visuals were disappointing. the patrol areas especially look last gen. I do like the visual effects of all the super and grenade abilities. some of the public events can get pretty intense.

Hopefully i have two more days to do Nightfall. I dont think i will hit 240 today seeing as how the climb from 200-214 took me a couple of hours. Been saving all my tokens so maybe its time to trade those in.

Yes!! Do not keep yourself from fun stuff, man.

Thanks to work and family, I dont have the time to wait till I'm a higher level to take those items lol by the time I can play again the rewards will be back, and by the time I get them after reset, they'll almost be back again lol no torturing myself to get highest gains.

It is, yes, but there's also a bug. If you have the Mini Mini Tool from a prior MIDA completion and move it to a new dude, it skips you ahead to the Banshee phase of the MIDA quest....but the starter quests are still open. So, rumor has it you can finish the later stage, get a new MIDA, and then start the earlier phase to get a new Mini Tool and do the later phase again.

I'm going to try it today or tomorrow.

As for leveling alts, it's the same as D1. Make a new guy the same class as your old guy, transfer your gear over (BEFORE you talk to Zavala after hitting 20 / beating the game as that affects the Exotic he gives you for beating Ghaul) and then just carry on.

What are the "powerful gear" milestones that people keep mentioning?

Are they just the "Do x Patrols", "Do x Strikes etc"?

They're Nightfall equivalents. So every week Shaxx has a Crucible challenge, Cayde has a flashpoint, etc....BUT, it appears they got bugged over the weekend. At least for me. I am not happy.

Theyre the weekly activity rewards. Nightfall, flashpoint, weekly crucible quest, and clan rewards. Only those engrams and exotics seem to go past 265 power level.

Oh and cayde's treasure maps, but all that bum gave me were mods.

Suns out, buns out!
I wanted to join your clan, but the link in the clan thread wasn't working for me so I joined DADS instead. :/

I'm wondering if I goofed/fucked-up: so I started my alt, having had learned from my past 'mistakes' with my first character (as far as min-maxing is concerned, saving milestones, etc)...and I think I already messed up with the initial milestones from Zavala, Cayde, and Ikora by speaking to them too soon? I was under the impression that the level of the reward/loot they gave you was dependent on your level when you completed those milestones, not what level you were when you accepted them. Is that not right? My alt is already level 242 (having had leveled up to 20 doing just public heroics), wishing I hit 265 first before starting those milestones now >_<. Or am I mistaken thinking that these first milestones from them don't give "powerful" rewards?

Asked this a few days ago but i think it got buried in the traffic... anyone have any ideas?

Minor thing. Has anyone else received unexpected Veteran Account emblems? I never played during Year One, but i got the Emblem for it. Conversely, i beat Kings Fall several times during Year 2 but i didnt get the Oryx emblem...
