I've been wondering if Stories was holding up the Monster Hunter XX localization, not World. Not too likely, but if so this is as good a time as any to announce it.

Would double dip.

I sincerely doubt Overwatch will ever come to Switch. It's online-only focus is at odds with the Switch's portability.
Don't we already have online-only games on the Switch? Either way, I doubt that we'll get Overwatch (though I'd be more than down for it).

Yeah Splatoon 2 also only sold because of the single player campaign, nobody cares about the online multiplayer in that game.
Same as Rocket League, never will be a thing on Switch.

What are we expecting to see?

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is pretty much guaranteed, but I'm not sure what else...

Shin Megami Tensei? No More Heroes? Metroid Prime 4? Fire Emblem Switch?

How about new Wii U ports, like Bayonetta 1+2, Wonderful 101, Vanquish, etc?

With a full 45 minutes dedicated, there's tons of possibilities.

45 minutes duration has the potential to get something huge.

Knowing Nintendo it's probably going to be a HUGE disappointment.
This is the last Direct before the holiday season. I'm sure we'll get some surprises, but people shouldn't forget all the already known games Nintendo has to put in here.

An MMO is already coming and Splatoon 2 is basically an online game...

Which MMO?

Yeah Splatoon is mainly online, but it does have a full campaign that can be played offline while on the go. Overwatch really doesn't have anything that you can play offline.

Didn't Jeff Kaplan also say it would be tough? Thinking there are too many things working against it.

All aboard the hypetrain.gif.
i miss those gifs :(
. Can't wait for more Xenoblade news. Hope we get some conceptual art for Metroid Prime 4

No, it's been mentioned that Capcom's localization teams have all been tied up with World in order to hit a worldwide release date target. Stories was localized by Nintendo, IIRC.

I'm mainly hoping for more Mario Odeysee, and Xenoblade 2. Also, I know there were rumors about Platinum bringing their Wii U games to Switch awhile back, and I'd love for that to be confirmed here. I'd really love for that to be true, as Bayonetta 2 would easily be my most wanted Wii U port. Nothing came of those rumors yet though, so I'm pretty doubtful that's actually happening.

Next few months? I guess Metroid Prime 4 is out. :(

I guess more info on Xenoblade 2 will be nice.

No it's only a focus of the next months. They'll talk about 2018 stuff too. I'm not saying MP4 will be there, but just saying it's not only the next few months.

Seconding this. Nearly every Direct in recent years, despite stating a focus on a specified timeframe, has shown content or made announcements regarding games to be released after the timeframe being focused on. So, MP4 is a possibility. I think it might be a bit far out to be likely to be shown, though.

Dragon Quest X. They're even doing a program for Wii players to upgrade to the Switch version, as they'll be discontinuing support for that version.

Fire Emblem Warriors for sure. It's out next month.
Skyrim as well I assume.

Dragon Quest X, and others above have said it already has online only games though I can't think of which games they're talking about.

And Splatoon 2 does not in any way sell because of the single player mode, I'm sorry. It may as well be an online only game.

Jeff Kaplan said they'd have to "revisit performance" is all I remember. And didn't the Rocket League devs say basically the same thing? About seeing how it performs?

At this point, a mere port would be laughable. If anything, they should just wait and release Smash 5 when it's ready.

It's not even the end of the Switch's first year, an enhanced port is entirely possible.

Maybe if we haven't seen anything by next year, then we can start expecting Smash 5 instead. But I'd rather it just be a port because I don't want Sakurai to work himself to death and waste that eternal youth.

99% of people who bought Splatoon 2 bought it for the online experience. The argument that online games don't work on the Switch because you can take it with you doesn't make any sense.

I'm mainly hoping for more Mario Odeysee, and Xenoblade
... Is there a contest going on who can create the most perverse version of the word Odyssey that I missed?

That would actually make sense. I don't recall there ever being a worldwide release for a Monster Hunter game (if I'm forgetting an instance of this happening, let me know), so I could honestly see all localization hands being on deck for MHW, especially if Nintendo Treehouse are the ones localizing MH Stories.

Am I the only one hoping for a new style savvy lol. I can just imagine the possibilities hopefully the series doesn't stay on the the 3ds.

I was speaking about the next proper Fire Emblem game, not Warriors. Though if they show one, they'll probably show the other?

I don't see why one implies the other. One is out in a month and basically has to have gone gold, whereas the other could be anywhere up to 15 months out.

Warriors is almost certainly going to be in this direct. It's the next big nintendo branded switch game, after all.

Anything else to tease? Common it's Nintendos Direct week ;)

I know you mostly hear about third party stuff. Overwatch? Dark Souls Remaster? Final Fantasy XV? GTA V?

Mum is the word for game leaks and hints from me for the time being. Sorry.

Props to Vern for getting this right. I found out about his rumor of this being in the 13th from a few YouTube channels. Now you tubers are going to be putting a magnifying glass on every post he makes going towards.

What they should do is go back to all my posts in switch threads last year and this year prior to release. Some nuggets to discover still if they feel like wading through a bunch of posts and mostly wasting their time.

If we see an SMT game, it'll be Deep Strange Journey. There's no way the HD game is far enough along to show anything more than the announcement trailer again.

I-dont-believe-you.gif

No kidding. Nintendo has stuck hard with the 2017 release timeline. When Xenoblade gets announced for early December we'll still have people on here convinced it'll be delayed.

Anyway I'm pretty psyched for this Direct. I'm probably one of the few looking forward to a few minutes of quick hits on upcoming ports and I think Fallout 4 will probably be one of them. Hoping they at least tell us Smash 4 is coming. Would not be surprised with a few more Wii U ports like Mario Maker and maybe one or two last gen ports too, but I'm not expecting very much at all on old stuff *if* anything actually gets announced.

Also think we'll get some Zelda DLC info, Pokemon USUM + whatever few 3DS games are left along with Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Xenoblade 2. With a Direct this long I'd imagine we're getting a new announcement for something coming in 2018.
