NEW GAME ALERT
Super Mario Maker for Nintendo Switch

They have a bunch of games coming out this year and everyone expects them to announce new games for 2018.

They could fill 45 minutes on Odyssey, Xenoblade and a bunch of third party games.

Never mind some 3ds and DLC stuff.

I'm almost expecting a Season Pass or DLC to be announced for Mario Odyssey. Maybe it's too early, but I'm expecting one at some point.

Don't even joke.

I wish I could say I wasn't lol. Imagine hearing Luigi's humming in a Switch direct though. Also Bayo and Donkey Kong on the go. Salivating over here.

Don't you dare... I am one "big" Switch announcement away from passing on both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X in favor of devoting 90% of my gaming budget to Switch. A port of goddamn Okami HD would put me over the edge man.

You and me both man. It's Capcom though... It's more likely they won't bring Okami to the Switch at all just because. Freaking imbeciles over there.

Don't forget Fire Emblem for Switch separated into Story A/Story B dual releases + Season Pass announcement giving you access to Story C.

Wait guys I cracked the code.

"mainly focused on what’s heading to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems"

This means there will be some info on things NOT headed to the Switch and 3DS family of systems and since mobile has been ruled out, this could either mean Amiibos, theme park info, movies/tv info, or hardware. So SCD releasing November confirmed????

95% joking here

I said it earlier, but really the only unannounced game for the Switch I could see them announcing is a new Mario Party game as they usually release every 1.5 years, which would make the next one a spring/summer release.

I'm still unsure if Kirby Switch will even be in this. It wasn't even shown in a playable form at E3 and they have the 3DS title coming out soon. It kind of depends if there's another direct this year.

Wii U

That's a solid list. It would be great if the presentation has this level of announcements.

And all this love from Capcom would grant hundreds of pages of discussion about their support for Switch on the Media Create threads :)

I went all in maybe lol
I somehow tried to mix existing games with games based on speculations from official sentences shared by third parties, with some personal dream

I honestly don't think we will see so many games

I'd love for a Virtual Console announcement with cross-buy across the 3DS, Switch and Wii U.

But maybe that's just too much to expect lol

Just a confirmation that VC is happening at all, would be nice. Just a "Coming in 2018" would make me feel better.

I know you're joking, but the 'mainly' refers to 'the coming months', not the platforms.

What they should do is go back to all my posts in switch threads last year and this year prior to release. Some nuggets to discover still if they feel like wading through a bunch of posts and mostly wasting their time.

Don't have the time for that kind of research, but it sounds tempting...

Why not Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics?

I know you're joking, but the 'mainly' refers to 'the coming months', not the platforms.

I actually had not read it that way, even initially. "The next few months" is a pretty vague range though, why would something releasing, say, in April 2018 not be considered "in the next few months?"

I still think it could be referring to OS features like video capture and streaming apps.

Don't have the time for that kind of research, but it sounds tempting...

Off the top of my head he said that the Switch wouldn't launch with a web browser or Netflix/streaming apps, leaked a couple Ubisoft games, leaked LA Noire a long time ago (and made sure to mention it was coming to all platforms, not just Switch)... He also said that Steep for Switch was cancelled but that may or may not be true at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if they had internally decided to cancel it at some point (or still may).

Keep expectations low.

I do think Animal Crossing will be in this Direct in some way. This has been the longest time without any news from an AC game.

Also, there are so many Deluxe games nintendo could release still (Mario Maker, Tropical Freeze, Smash...) - I actually don't mind this at all.

4 - 3.

1

Prime.

Metroid Prime port?

that would be so good. Re-release the classics....and Get us all ready to play Prime 4.

I get that Mario Maker would be an easy port from Wii-U, but do we think they'd really bring the same version to a third platform? If anything, I'd expect them to just have a Mario Maker sequel in a year or so.

This. Honestly I'm not expecting any new first-party game announcements, not even Wii U ports. Just more info on stuff we already know is coming, plus some indie/third party stuff. Easier for me to stay sane when I expect nothing from Nintendo.

Mario Maker Maker. Make your own level building game!

I'm pretty sure they always announce a new first party published game in worldwide Directs, but you do you.

My expectations

- Excitebike themed racetrack annouced for the Universal Studios Theme park
- Virtual Console finally arrives on Switch (Starting with Virtual Boy games)
- Nintendo unveils their new fitness program, featuring holographic yoga sessions from the Wii Fit Trainer in select locations.
- New partnership with Kellogg to create Wario themed cereal called Wari-O's
- New Youtuber themed Amiibo line featuring Chuggaaconroy, Egoraptor, and The Jwitz
- Metal Gear Acid Collection heading to Nintendo Switch and 3DS

It won't take much to make me happy this direct, a 2017 release date for Xeno2 would do it, as would a Smash port, or a Platinum Games port, or virtual console.

Expectations:
- New trailer + world reveal for Mario Odyssey
- Champion's Ballad details / release date
- Xenoblade 2 trailer / release date
- Bayonetta 1 & 2 port
- More Kirby and Yoshi details
- Dates for major third-party games (Yooka-Laylee, Skyrim, Stardew Valley) + a few new announcements from third parties
- Surprise downloadable title announcement + release

Wishes:
- Nintendo Classics: NES and SNES announced for release this holiday
- DKC Returns + Tropical Freeze port
- Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch surprise announcement for November 2017 release
- Reissue of most Smash Bros. amiibo over the next few months
