Hey man, don't paint broad strokes. I'm white and don't fall into that category. I condemn PDP completely and believe he's totally racist.

As a white man, I'm just going to go ahead and say that it's probably not the time for #notallwhitepeople.

This is our time to listen and try to help others who need it more. I don't think you meant any offense with your post, but it's a good reminder that this is definitely a "check your privilege" situation.

HUH?!!!!!

What are you trying to say here? I'm lost.

He's trying to say that the N word is getting more popular throughout the world because rap/hiphop is becoming the most popular form of music in many countries, and ignorant people don't know any better than " if they use it in a song how can it be racist? ".

While I dont subscribe to that notion, I am in agreement that the N word is used way too much in popular culture ( movies, music etc ).

How did that post get six likes wtf

Where are all these alts coming from??? And how are they springing up so quickly?

Seriously it took me three to five months to get approved to actually post after I became a (junior) member of GAF. How are these guys spreading so quickly?

Sleeper accounts. Dudes have alts that aren't used for years just for threads like this.

I wouldn't call "Grand Wizard Wakka" subtle

But yeah they've been pretty clear on their thoughts on some issues, even if they don't directly speak out about them

Listening to their podcast livestream right now actually, I'm not all that convinced they (Woolie and Pat only this week) will even acknowledge it, because they generally don't, but it is gaming news, and they do source GAF a lot, if they talk on it I'll bring it up.

So behaving racist doesn't make you a racist?
Then it ain't about you. Sit, listen, and learn like the rest of us don't jump to your own defence.

Are you really making a point of his wife calling him a "nigga" jokingly compared to a big YouTuber saying "fucking nigger" as an insult? It's not even remotely the same thing.

A white person does not just get to call someone a nigga "jokingly."

Period.

I don't care if Huey P Newton gave her permission.

Not the guy you quoted, but I live in a country where there are hardly any black people (when I lived in the capital I saw maybe one person per month, and they were probably tourists), so most of what I know of "black culture" is from the american media and the internet, and it's mostly hip-hop, nigga and stuff like that. I know it's not a good representation, but you can't blame someone if they never interacted with an african american, and that's how they see them.

What does this have to with PDP, who clearly is well versed in American culture?????

Nigga is used in rap, by black dudes. It isn't used as a slur to best down a black dude down.

I doubt they will, but I'd be interested to hear their thoughts.

People who use "gay" in the pejorative or as an exclamation being old enough to have kids... Whew

I mean those are the only people you're likely to hear using it that way. I should hope that teens these days grew up knowing NOT to use those words that way.

In any case, my point was that I don't say it like that anymore, but there was a time in my life when it was far less offensive in that context.

I showed this very thread/pdp clip to a couple of my PC buddies that are black and they don't care. One response was "it's his constitutional right and it doesn't sound racist to me" and the other was something like "I'm a black guy and I just can't care anymore. I have my own problems to deal with as opposed to worrying about some Swedish guy saying the N word. Words only have power if you're sensitive and let them have power."

Yes you would. Because it's so obvious in movies and music that it's only ever black people using it and white peoplw nevwr say it or utter it to black people. You never magically picked up on that?

I mean, it's just a word, it has no real meaning here, so why should I pay attention to who says it? And it's not like I can see the skin color of the singer of a song, and movies are dubbed, so it's a white guy saying "nigga" either way.

What does this have to with PDP, who clearly is well versed in American culture?????

This isn't about PDP, this is about a guy who said he sometimes says "mah nigga" to his friends. I'm not defending PDP, he obviously knows what the word means, and used it as an insult.

thank you for letting us know what black people think

It doesn't matter if she was joking or not, you do not call a black man or woman a nigga most especially if you're of a different race. Korey stated during the LA show that she's always saying "quit being weird, nigga" all the time to him and he's doesn't get upset when she does. That's not right at all.
Keyword is his "wife" though. If he is okay with her calling him a nigga, especially when it's the version of the word that is used between those familiar with each other, then who are we to judge? It's their relationship. If she used either "nigger" or even "nigga" when speaking to Martin or Oz and they were not okay with it, then yeah, she would definitely be in the wrong.

Either way, that and the PDP situation are completely different scenarios and it's odd comparing them.

"There's no context other than he's a racist motherfucker."

"Our Youtube revenue has gone down because of this punk right here."

Simple and to the point! XD

The kid who shows up half-way of this video and tries to excuse PDP's behaviour by basically saying it was a HEATED GAMING MOMENT™, man. Kid is clearly a fan of PDP and trying to find a way to still enjoy his content, so he makes excuses to reduce that cognitive dissonance. I wish they showed the fuller clip so even that kid would realise there was no remorse on PDP's part.

Martin killing it at the end!

The bolded is key. I use the n-word from time to time as its ingrained in our culture's (I'm black) vernacular, but there's really no reason for non-black people to legitimately and casually use the word.

Depending on tone and context, nigga means a lot of things within the black community. Sometimes it's synonymous with brother/sister, to address people you dislike/hate, and other times there's a behavioral context we use the word in. There's even a classist context to the use of the word amongst black people. Most white people do not get the context other than to oppress or emulate and that leads to some making the error of trying to use the word as if it belongs in their vocabulary.

*Raises Glass*
True true.

staging I'd give a 10, but the actual content is still pretty damn weak... like way to weak to be a deflection. should still serve to get a few highfives and get posted on some forums tho.

This guy is so freaking deep into the altright talking points it makes my skin crawl.

"See I'm worried about the whimdazzles and the foozgolfers not being able to play games anymore over this. Why yes my stance mainly only protects me and my other YT buddies and allows us to continue our asshattery and spreading our bullshit without being held culpable. But think about those poor waddoozles won't you?"

somehow i doubt the veracity of one of your "buddies" starting a statement with "I'm a black guy"

Some Black people are fine with it, most aren't. That some are ok with it doesn't take away the meaning of the word or its use towards others.

Yeah, because those seem like real reactions from real people and not just your snark ass commentary

That's a creative combo of "I have a friend who", "I have black friends" and "this black guy says it's okay".

And there are black people (like me) who still find it offensive when used in the community. I was taught by parents to never use the word in anyway, and I never have.

Yeah I know, that's not what I was saying. I hope you can understand that I'm 100% against using the word.

But I was clarifying what that other poster meant. And I agree its used so much in rap and popular culture, that for ignorant people, or children who do not know the history behind the word, the word will not have that connotation for them.

I hope you catch my drift.

I'm calling bullshit on this.

Intent does matter, and there can be no better judge of intent than Korey. If it doesn't upset him fine, it isn't a mandate. If you dislike the use of the word there, you're entitled to that also. I think that's the reality of it.

Even though this definitely didn't happen. What do you feel about people who feel the opposite, does your small anecdotal evidence outweigh that?

Good for your friends, then?

Just want to chime in and say that after watching this video, YouTube thought I'd be interested in Sargon of Akkad's live stream commentary of PDP being a racist sack of shit.

Yes YouTube. After watching that video about the improper usage of that hateful word, I wanted to hear a white supremacist's view.

Get fucked Google. Fix your goddamn shit.

Watch the white supremacist's video and show how tolerant you are by listening to both sides. Then you could eschew decency in favor of a new enlightened position called 'the middle'. Great place to be. /s

I don't think anyone was asking them to take offense. if you mean to suggest that we should all just drop this because your black friend totally did, pass.

I don't believe you. Like at all, this is some laughable theatre.

Sometimes I see the "Im black and Im okay with it" and "My friends dont care and they're black" posts and I think..

"Did you just make imaginary black people to support your argument?"

Cool. So, I don't really care if you believe it or not. I know that it happened and you feeling any different won't change that.

So these totally real people just happen to come upon the same two very regurgitated and very common justifications given by racists, while one also apparently starts real sentences with "I'm a black guy"?

It's a bold bluff, I'll give you that.
