Edit: While we're talking about Final Fantasy, I'd actually be stoked if they announced a crystal chronicles game. Didn't play the Wii version but I thought the Gamecube one was ace.
Like when they revealed tropical freeze, they didn't even namedrop Retro. I was actually in denial about it for a while after the direct I was like "where the hell was Retros game". I just assumed it was another studio.

Yeah, it's fun looking at his old posts and trying to connect dots as to what actually ended up happening (e.g. Capcom TPS = Umbrella Corps? FF spinoff RPG = World of Final Fantasy?), but at the same time there's a lot that can be passed off as easy guesses.
I just looked around to see what the origin of FFVI remake being on Nintendo was but I couldn't find the exact source. I vaguely remember him mentioning it but there was so much "insider" stuff around that time it's hard keeping track of who said what.

So he didn't directly say it but people started speculating that FFVI is what he was referring to there. If it even means anything. I'd keep my pants on personally considering what happened to him but hey, cool if it actually happens.

At least with the official wording, we wont' have to suffer through two days of "they will announce no 2018 games and only talk about holiday games" and other nonsense about keeping expectations in check to absurdly low levels.

Anyway, no doubt we'll be seeing finalized Xenoblade plans and probably the beginning of the massive push Mario Odyssey will get, so I'm looking forward to that alone. Everything else will be a bonus.

Oh wow, had no idea that dude ended up being a fraud, I guess he made some lucky guesses then (or maybe I'm just imagining things).
Anyways, I don't see how this can disappoint me, all I need is more Super Mario Odyssey info and I'm good!
(I would like some Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon info too though, god that game has had such a limp hype cycle)

He had too many things right to be a complete fraud, but he was trolling equal hard, so a lot of the game's mentioned probably are not true either, meaning we can't believe anything on his lists anymore.

Mario Odyssey doubles as a mario game and a sequel to Donkey Kong 64. In return, the games spot in the direct is replaced of a picture of donkey kong crying and sitting on a giant banana, saying 'please understand' in the DK Font, and the game is delayed and replaced with Ultra Smash Bros for SwitchDS/Switch/SwitchU. Travis is now in the game and every character starts with a smash ball and in Final Destinination, except the music is replaced with a rock/violin version of Darude Sandstorm. Btw BoTW gets a sequel called BoTW2: Electric Boogaloo- Samus Returns & Knuckles +10 amibo announcements.

I do wonder what the really massive, flagship titles for 2018 are going to be. I mean Yoshi and Kirby are cool (and Yoshi is my boy for life on Mario Kart) but they're not exactly what you would consider huge, mass market titles. I wonder whether they are shooting for Pokemon in late November (possible as they said "more than a year" at E3 and that would be a year and a half). I agree that Smash is now likely to be a full Smash 5 later on. I think a port of Smash 4 at this point would have been a vast waste of development time that could have been spent making a proper Smash 5. I expect a lot more 3rd party poets in 2018 but still can't shake the feeling that they must have got some big first party hitters in the pipeline.

The FFVI rumors ORIGINALLY started when that one guy had got inside miiverse the day Wii U launched. There was a bunch of game some generalized as such simply called "metroid" and others were like, "final fantasy VI" that was in 2012.
