Nintendo Direct announced for Sept 14, 2017 (midnight CEST)

Retro will probably be a January/winter reveal along with Smash and Fire Emblem, I think. If they reveal the Animal Crossing mobile game at Apple's event I can see them announcing the Switch game to go with it in the Direct.

whats likely is botw season pass 2, super mario odyssey, xenoblade chronicles 2 at least.

We could get bayonetta 1+2+wonderful 101 considering platinum has been teasing it for a bit on twitter.

I'm REALLLY hoping we get smash bros 4 switch announced though. Needs to happen ASAP, even if it ends up being a Q1 release.. Also, some more AAA 3rd party titles by the end of the year. Would be great if we get some shooters announced like CoD

Why would you do this to yourself to look into a /v/ Nintendo "leak".

Because I trust monitor photos with bad blur more than insiders.

There was only one time a Direct was actually leaked and that was when someone posted a screenshot of some folders containing press material. It was really weird but nothing like that has ever happened before or since with any of Nintendo's digital presentations.

"Logo has a plane in it, indicating a new flight mechanic."

Oh man I forgot about that. Swing and a miss.
He thought the hat was an airplane. I can see that. It's obviously a case where the leak was legit. There's no way anyone could get lucky guessing stuff like ARMS, a new Street Fighter II, a new Bomberman, etc.

I never said the leak wasn't legit, it was a followup to my post on the previous page where I acknowledged its legitimacy but also pointed out that he filled in a lot of blanks with his own extrapolations as an observation that even the most accurate /v/ leaks haven't been the full picture. I'm agreeing with you, dude!

oh I get that but he said he was involved with setting up the switch event. People keep bringing up the live conference leak like it holds weight in this situation.

Exactly.

I find really hard to anyone know a full direct beforehand.

The only leaks/rumors so far: Fallout 4 and achievements

- Super Mario Odyssey amiibo features
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date and trailer (and amiibo)
- Major firmware update (Themes, VC, Online)
- Platinum Switch port(s)
- Unannounced first-party title
- Nothing about Pokémon (TPC does their own stuff for that)
- Kirby info (both the 3DS and Switch games)
- Surprise localization announcement
- At least one "It's releasing after this presentation" announcement
- Zelda DLC Pack 2 release date and info

That's about as safe as I can play it.

I just really hope we'll get to see what Retro has been working on. It's been far too long since Tropical Freeze came out with nary a peep out of them.

I'm seeing more Wii U ports being announced, i wonder which ones will stay exclusive to Wii U.

Also, hope to see more of the new Mario to convince me on buying a Switch.

At some point in time most of Nintendo's Wii U lineup will have been re-released, if not via ports then whenever they can figure out how to get Wii U virtual console working.

Until then though there aren't a ton of games I flatout don't see happening anytime soon, but off the top of my head... Nintendo Land, Game & Wario, Wii Party U, I wouldn't hold my breath for. Splatoon obviously not. Star Fox Zero relies way too heavily on the dual screen setup to be re-released without heavy retooling. Fatal Frame V might just get lost in the shuffle which would suck, but I honestly don't know how Gamepad heavy it is since it's one of the few games on the system I didn't play. Devil's Third is probably just not worth it considering it bombed and they washed their hands of it almost immediately.

It'd be cool if Fatal Frame V got ported in a collection with II remake and IV, finally getting localized. Totally pie-in-the-sky type thing but hey.

I'm afraid Nintendo will only show already revealed titles footage, no surprises. I hope I'm wrong.

Some people here have BIG expectations, wow!

This is nearly twice as long as the E3 presentation, and ten minutes longer than the last general Direct, which was billed as focusing "mainly" on ARMS and Splatoon 2.

It never hurts to keep expectations grounded, of course, but I still expect a good deal more than previously announced titles.

If ARMS follows the Splatoon format of a delayed amiibo release (IIRC they weren't announced until after the game came out and was successful, right?) when would they announce ARMS amiibo, if we're gonna get them? Is this too soon, would it be later on this year, or would that be an E3 thing? I know ARMS is meant to get a year or so of post-launch content, right? So that'd take us like almost right to E3 2018. It'd have to be some time before that?

And I really hope we do. I don't know what they'd be used for but lord knows I want them. Character designs in that game are ace as hell.

Splatoon got its first amiibos (Girl, Boy, Squid) announced in April, just under two months before it came out. Callie and Marie + the redecos were late, though.

ARMS amiibos are something I didn't think of here but would make sense for them to touch on. It'd probably be a quick way to inject some fresh blood into the game.

I could see a Platinum game.

either a new one or old one.

Kamiya has been free ever since Scalebound got killed. If Nintendo knew what was good they'd have snatched him up and got him on a new project. I'd love to see what he has lined up though it'd have to be pretty early at this point.

Hashimoto hasn't been up to anything since Star Fox Zero either, has he?

Probably going to be mostly in depth trailers of already announced games, some new port announcements (likely the Platinum WiiU games), and a closing teaser for a game we KNOW is quite along in development, like Animal Crossing or Pikmin 4. Maybe a "new" Smash game that's built on the foundation of Smash.

Can't divulge my sources:

+Animal Crossing: Country Road announced for the 3DS
+Pokemon Gen IV remakes, AuroraPearl and NovaDiamond, coming to 3DS next year
+Metroid: Super Samus Returns, 2.5D remake of Super Metroid, for 3DS
+Platinum developing new Ice Climber game, Ice Climber: Hypothervengence, for 3DS
+F-Zero Z, remake of SNES F-Zero, coming to New 3DS only via SNES eShop
+Super Mario Odyssey new world shown called 3DS Kingdom where you explore the worlds of classic 3DS games
+Steel Diver coming to Switch (port of the 3DS version)

I guess I'll go ahead and post some predictions then.

Switch

First, some boring system updatey stuff.

* Details on a major system update, including My Nintendo integration (specifically Missions), Video Capture, Add Friends via social media, support for Bluetooth audio devices, and maybe a web browser

Not much to really expect considering it's age, so this'll be quick.

* Samus Returns mention

* Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minons amiibo details

* Sushi Striker release date

* Kirby Multiplayer game unveiled, delayed to 2018

* EarthBound II, AKA Mother 3 remake from HAL, updated 3D Models, for the first time in the US, arriving early 2018.

Remember when the Mario Kart 8 Direct was dropped in its entirety straight out of nowhere with no advance warning? That was such a trip I still think I imagined it.

Not smart announcing this three days in advance, gaming community will go crazy by then. Should've dropped it 24 hours early.

Nah, two to two and a half days is exactly the right amount of time to give people advance notice without building expectations to an unreasonable degree.
