Direct prediction:

- Mario Odyssey release date announced
- New Mario series Amiibos announced
- Big Zelda story DLC previewed, release date announced
- Xenoblade 2 release date announced - delayed to early 2018
- Pokemon MakeThatLast3DSBuck Edition release date announced
- Whoops we're out of time

Odyssey already has a release date tho.

My prediction

3DS

Pokemon - Needs no introduction.
Advance Wars 3DS - It's a brand new Advance Wars game for the 3DS
Mother 3D - A 3D remake of Mother 3, comes complete for stereoscopic 3D. DUH!

Switch

Mario Odyssey - DUH!
Metroid Prime 4 - First trailer for the game. It's actually 2.5D and not first person anymore.
Little King Story Remastered - Obviously a remaster of Little King Story from the Wii.
Genital Jousting - The PC game is being ported to Switch with HD rumble and motion control support. Local multi-player.
Castlevania - Konami is making a brand new 3D Castlevania entry for the Switch.
Contra Switch - Made by Treasure. What number are we up to in Contra again?
Sin And Punishment 3 - by Platinum Games
Guardian Heroes 3 - Treasure is too busy making this, that's why Platinum handles S&P3.
Fire Emblem Echoes Genealogy Of The Holy Wars - Comes complete with Thracia 776. Both games in glorious 2D graphics. Or really good cel-shading.
Koei - No, not Tecmo Koei, just Koei showing they actually know how to make good games again, and cancels Fire Emblem Warriors and publicly apologizes by making Aerobiz Super Sonic 3, Genghis Khan 3, Romance of the 3 Kingdom 14, and Uncharted Waters 5 for the Switch instead.

I don't think they would call it Metroid Prime 4 is it wasn't first person.

With the recent Netflix series and season 2 being worked on this makes so much sense. They even namedropped Castlevania when asked what's next. That said, I'd prefer a 2D Castlevania and since it's Konami I'm not going to get my hopes up since it does make sense, lol.

I know Snake is a veteran but honestly Bomberman feels SO much more likely to me. I don't expect any 3rd party to have more than one rep and Aside from the original Metal Gear 1 & 2 and Twin Snakes (was there one for 3DS I'm forgetting?), MGS is just not a "Nintendo" franchise. All of its mainline, popular, and recent games are on other systems.

But *specifically with help from Nintendo* Bomberman just came back in a big way on Switch, regardless of if Smash for Switch is a port or a new game I just see him being Konami's rep over anyone else.

Man screw all you guys for bringing all this smash talk. In my head I know there's bugger all chance of it actually being announced but now y'all got me on the hype train. It's the game I want above all else and will probably consume 99% of my gaming time for the next 5 years. Just hook it straight into my veins.

Yep. I got so much play out of both the 3ds and wiiu versions, but I always felt like playing on 3ds was setting me back because the controls were different. Can't wait to be able to just play with a pro controller anywhere

Is there a good chance Mother 3 localization is announced Wednesday? Didn't Reggie mention it when he mentioned Metroid in January?
Reggie says a lot of things

I don't think they would call it Metroid Prime 4 is it wasn't first person.

Could be third person if they really want to shake it up. But yeah I don't think a Metroid Prime can be sideview at all. It would have to be primarily a shooter adventure game. If they make it third person they could add more climbing and cover mechanics though! Ho ho ho.

Metroid Prime 4: Vanquish 2

Pokemon also has a release date

Man, this is what happens when I don't pay attention to franchises I care little about!

That's a fair point, but remember how Sakurai has mentioned in the past how much work is put into making the characters fit naturally in the same world? Characters like Link, Fox, Mewtwo, etc seem relatively easy to integrate despite being from very different series, because they all had colorful designs. The same can't be said about Snake.

Roster consistency is a factor in every fighter ever made. You may not care so much about that, but it's important to lots of people.

Funny you mention that when Brawl had this "gritty" look in all of its character designs that Snake actually fits well.

Also Smash has been roster consistent about them being video games.

Capcom already has two reps (Ryu and Megaman), as well as Sega (Sonic and Bayonetta).

I would actually like this quite a bit. Samus needs her acrobatics in 3D, too!

I hope the next Smash is Smash Wii U mechanics with the Brawl aspect of it being more a love letter to Nintendo franchises. I felt like the Wii U version wasn't quite the same on that front.

You'd think by now people would've given up on the Smash Switch rumor. If it was going to happen I think it would've happened by now.

After seeing it mentioned, Advance Wars would be amazing. I don't expect any other 3DS games from Nintendo though, so anything 3DS that is brand new (not a localization) will make me so happy.

We found that out months ago, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon both come out in November.

Unless you're talking about a hypothetical 2018/19 3DS mainline game announcement.

Since the success of Super Bomberman R has no doubt inspired Konami to revive other forgotten IP on the Switch, I'm positive on Wednesday they'll announce a Snatcher/Policenauts Collection.
..in my dreams.

45 minutes is a long time to spend explaining the complex combat in Xenoblade Chronicles 2...or just enough time to reveal Mother 3, Pokemon Snap 2, show a gameplay trailer for Prime 4, reveal Retro's new game, and announce ports of Fallout 3, Deus Ex HR & MKD, and FF XII.

It's a given that Nintendo are probably making the rest of their Fall/Winter announcements here, but I am curious how far into 2018 they stretch. It would be pretty exciting if we learn everything coming until next E3, but that kind of stuff usually gets detailed in the first Direct of the year.

I'm content with just Odyssey and the DLC plans for their current library, but I'm reaaaally holding out for a 2018 Animal Crossing announcement.

My biggest question is funnily enough to know what Nintendo plans to do with 3DS in 2018. Every year for a while now it feels like it is on its last legs, then Nintendo announces a ton of new software for it.

You'd think by now people would've given up on the Smash Switch rumor. If it was going to happen I think it would've happened by now.

I think the only thing that made it feel credible was the year+ delay to get Bayonetta/Cloud/Corrin amiibo released, but now that that has happened with no game announcement I gave up on it.

To be honest the Switch really doesn't need Smash right now either with the system already having 3 fighting games, one of which is an IP Nintendo really wants to catch on.

I think we will learn a little more about the Nintendo World Championship 2017. Perhaps they will talk about which titles will be played, and maybe even announce the surprise final game that will be played (Super Smash Bros.?)

Of course I expect Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Skyrim release dates. Don't think we'll get Virtual Console news, but you never know with Nintendo!

Has the entire presentation been leaked yet?

What am I paying you people for

It apparently consists of a 45 minute GameXplain style discussion between Reggie, Bill Trinen, and Koizumi on the importance of easily recognizable and attractive Switch game icons.

Also, Lola Pop has been cancelled.

While it says "over the next few months" in the English Direct blurb, the Japanese one makes it very clear that the focus is on games coming out "within this year": https://www.nintendo.co.jp/nintendo_direct/20170914/index.html

Now people will wish for a Metroid by Platinum games!

We already know the release date for Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. If you're referring to another mainline 3DS entry, given that we just got the announcement of the mainline series going to the Switch, I'd imagine that Gen 8 will end up being the Switch games.

My body is ready.

As is my Bingo Card:
As mentioned earlier, The Pokémon Company isn't gonna talk about Pokémon Switch in detail in a Direct when they still have Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon to promote & hype up.

Also, just saying "Surprise Announcement" is kinda cheating. You need to be specific when it comes to these bingo cards.

LA Noire and Mario x Rabbids says hi.

I totally believe Nintendo's sitting on Smash for the right time. They know it will sell regardless of when they release it.

Animal Crossing makes way too much sense as a mobile game and will probably be pretty damn profitable if it doesn't follow the SMR business model. I don't really care too much about it, I just want Nintendo to acknowledge they are also developing an AC game for the Switch.
