Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Did the Nightfall for the first time tonight and man oh man that timer adds intensity, I really dig the timer and element burn stuff. Having the element switch up as you're playing adds an interesting challenge. Is every Nightfall going to be like that or was that a modifier for this week's?

Better Devils is a beast.
Apparently timer will always stay but with different modifiers (except for this week cause there’s a bug).

Seeing this thread on the front page all the time and reading how much fun people are having with it is not making the wait for the PC version any easier :(

It's better devils. You get it either from a crucible drop or crucible rep engram. Has explosive payload which has no damage drop off, effectively extending the range by a big deal. It also great stats all around. Really good sights, aim assistance, impact, rate of fire and fast reload speed. Most of the other hand cannons have such a slow and sluggish reload speed that I hate using them.

Really like better devils though, second best hand cannon currently right below sunshot.

I got a sparrow and ship that I like so I dismantle all the other sparrows and ships that I get from level up bright engrams. It will give you lots of bright dust.

Oh cool, I think I'm using the same one. Didn't use it until I did the Rat NF and it felt good. Need to try it in PVP soon.

Yup this. Using it on a boss and having the charge time reduced to pretty much zero has you melting HP away, it's a really great weapon.

Yup, its single target boss dps killer. It's even better if you are a hunter or titan as you can use the class abilities to auto reload and the charge time does not reset. Use roll as a hunter when you have 1-2 shots remaining and use the low titan wall and duck to auto reload and do the same thing. As a warlock there are boots which causes your rift to auto reload but I don't have them yet. I'll just use a titan wall to do the same thing.

ive changed my mind about the soundtrack. i wasnt being serious when i posted about it the first time, but there were some tracks i did really like when i heard them in game.

so i gave the soundtrack a listen on its own to see what i missed, and about 85% of the tracks are ruined by obnoxious percussion halfway into it. every single one, and it's this slow moving, blaring percussion with repetitive strings on top.

the highs are few and far between - none within the first 10 tracks - and i really appreciate them, but that's mostly because they are rearrangements of destiny 1 motifs. most of the rest isn't bad. it's just repetitive and annoying more often than not; the tracks just vamp on and on and go nowhere. it sounds better in the context of the game because the second half usually kicks in when a boss shows up, so you drown it out behind rockets and nova bombs. but the epic music in the first game was at least memorable and varied, like the eye of the gatelord. i wouldnt even say it's generic. it's just boring and unpleasant.

pretty much the same situation as taken king and rise of iron; a few gems hidden in forgettable noise. we've fallen very far from halo 3 and odst, that's for damn sure.

How are people getting up to power level 280 and above? I've been at 272-274 for a really long time, getting many many purples that are below my level (typically 271) so don't push my level up at all. I did all of the side quests and got most exotic items before I was 265 even, so I know that might have been a problem. Still, is there something I could be doing differently other than getting a lot of purples that don't seem to increase my level?

The nightfall and milestones kinda things will help bump you up a bit especially if you can infuse with items that have the +5 modifiers. I am juuust below 280 because I'm short two modifiers, but once you break that barrier (maybe after reset cus rewards start again) then you can start getting higher drops.

At this point I think you have 3 options

1 - Farm Nightfalls, even though you don't get the milestone multiple times, I think the drops still scale over 271.
2 - Farm public events for Exotic Engrams and use them to boost your legendaries.
3 - Make a new character of the same class, grind it to 20, give it all your 1st characters gear and re-do all the powerful/exotic quests/milestones.

Can anyone confirm if the Rat King quest line needs you to do the activities with someone else that has the quest?

I was playing with a friend last night, after I had completed the nightfall and he was unable to complete the 'do 3 patrol missions' part of the rat king quest.

Anyone wanna do a quick NF? Already done it on my hunter just doing it on my Titan now. Can't talk since the GF is asleep but I'm down.

PSN is Fakehound

The easiest way to push higher and higher is through the luminous engrams and guaranteed exotics. So if you cashed them in prematurely then that is the most likely reason for your early plateau.

Same. Also really dislike how the system utterly fails anyone who wants to focus on one character.

yea ive read the guides posted in this thread and my visceral reaction had always been "but are you having fun?" chasing light isnt fun to me at all, especially since none of these strategies are obvious and the game makes no effort to show you the best route to go. just gonna coast at my own pace and not worry about hitting an arbitrary number. i havent hit destiny's level cap since house of wolves brcause that was the last time it wasnt a chore to do so.

Probably a stupid question but are the reset and today's scheduled down time the same thing?

Not sure whether to go and do something else for a few hours if the downtime starts in 6 mins as well.

So Reset about to happen

Totals

Warlock @283

Titan @278

Hunter @274 (Work in Progress, up to the Rank mission, like 4 missions left)
Tried to do them, but my mind and body gave out

Hit Glimmer Cap 7 times lol, 517 Legendary Shards
2135 Bright Dust

Did 1 NF at least, no rush to whatever the cap is for normal Raid

weekly reset is every tuesday at 2am pacific/ 5am eastern. the down time is apparently later in the day for a few hours

Does each character class have its own pool of unlock tokens?

I.e. If I spend a bunch of points on my hunter am I going to make it slower progress to unlock all that stuff on my warlock when I make one?

I've just unlocked the third hunter sub class and if the tokens are hunter specific I'm ready to spend them all - if they could be used on the warlock I'm going to make though I may hold off
