Apple September Event 2017 |OT| A Top-Notch Keynote

This really reminds me of some of the past Wii era Nintendo conferences when you could feel that they would just bring up every shitty idea and try to hype it up as the next big thing...no matter how silly xD

Depends.

This is wider than 16:9, right, but thanks to OLED and it's perfect black levels any black bars on the left and right should blend right into the frame (at least the black model).

It should still look OK unless you stretch it or zoom to fill the display.

The stock player he showed at least had the bezel covering the image instead of a black bar

plop plop muthafukker!

some ms exec is screaming into a bag right now angry that windows hello didn't do jack shit for windows phone

I used Windows Hello on Surface products and it really is impressive tech. Glad iPhone seems to be doing something similar. I'll always miss TouchID tho.

Why is faceID unlock better than touchID unlock? I literally don't see any upside to it.

It's not. The Apple way recently is to introduce solutions searching for a problem: ie 3D touch, face unlock, etc. They could have just avoided all this with the touch id placed on the back or side.

another thought, this makes hacking into your spouses phone even easier. just wait fro them to go to sleep and scan their face while they sleep, hahahahahah
Doesn't work like that. You need to open your eyes or direct attention to it.

Yep. When I had my Galaxy Nexus, I was hyped as hell for facial unlocking until I realized I was too dark for it to ever work.

I don't know about the Nexus, but this is rumored to have infrared, shouldn't that cancel out any issue at in the dark?

Will you hand your kids a 1000 dollar phone though

I wouldn't even buy a 1k phone to begin with. But can't you send these to your kids or something? Or just play around with it.

But yes, it's hilarious this is their show case for such an expensive phone.

this is the dumbest shit I have ever seen but I just got a text from my wife, my sister and my mom and they all said DID YOU SEE THE NEW animated emoji thing?

Yep. Like I said, I'm going to get like 10 of these a day from my family. Doesn't matter how dumb I think they are or how many times I ignore them.

A nearly one trillion dollar company demoing animated poop emoji's during the reveal of their 1000 dollar smartphone. Apple what are you doing

The tunnel vision is astounding

We're not the target audience. Their target audience will eat animoji up.

this is the dumbest shit I have ever seen but I just got a text from my wife, my sister and my mom and they all said DID YOU SEE THE NEW animated emoji thing?

Case in point.

This whole swiping down to the home menu thing bugs me. Am I not able to swipe down in any other apps then? Can I not scroll through messages quickly? Can I close photos quickly in Facebook? What's the deal there?

I think I'll stick with my 7+......

TouchID works so unbelievably fast and quick, in any position (i.e while not having to look at it).

Having to look at your phone and then swipe up on the screen just to unlock is a step backwards.

That's not what happened. The failure wasn't because of the Face ID not working.

That's what a lot of media outlets will write, though. 'Face ID doesn't work on first try!', etc.

From The Guardian's live blog:
Oh dear, Face ID fails first try in Craig Federighi’s demo. That… doesn’t bode well. Still, the rest of the demo looks impressive enough, and it is a very pretty full-screen phone.
