That awkward moment when the Apple TV CPU beats the Switch and the Mac Mini both by near double (and has twice the bandwidth of the former)

🤔what about battery life when streaming from Apple Music, a feature Apple specifically advertised during the event? Can we even stream a full album before the battery dies?
Also 4K movies are priced the same as HD for new purchases too.

Good q. Wonder if caching the album or playlist at once would help compared to continuous streaming over lte.what about battery life when streaming from Apple Music, a feature Apple specifically advertised during the event? Can we even stream a full album before the battery dies?
1080p isn't really that high a resolution as we used to think. It's kinda amazing Apple was able to convince the studios of this.
Do not touch the red button.Excited for iPhone X and Apple TV 4k and series 3 Watch with cellular.
But what is that red dot on the watch crown. I don't like it. At all.
What does it signify?

Makes me wonder why there is even a separate SKU, then. (or is there?)
Who would buy "HD" at this point?
Price. The 4K really should have been 150.Makes me wonder why there is even a separate SKU, then. (or is there?)

The red dot is ugly. I'm so torn. I really wanted the LTE Apple Watch but that red dot is so out of place and completely cheapens it. I can't believe this.

Will they even keep the option to buy SD versions of things come the 22nd? Except for the old stuff thats ONLY available in SD of course

Yeah I hope this catches on and becomes a trend with competing service. I have a 4K TV but am unwilling to pay extra for 4K content (like Netflix's upcharge for 4K plan).
The old SKU is sticking around for $30 cheaper ($149 vs $179).
I think the older one should've been dropped to $99 and have the 4K model start at $149, that would be the sweet spot. But Apple wants those profit margins.
It doesn't look like 4K is available on iTunes (Yet?) but I imagine they're not separate SKUs. Just like there aren't separate SKUs for 1080 and 720.
Edit:
Wait, are we talking about the files or the Apple TV devices themselves?
He was talking about the files. I guess there was some confusion.
It'll just be SD price and HD/UHD price.
Definitely time for it to be retired.
Why bother getting rid of it?
Why bother getting rid of it?
HD moves to SD prices, UHD takes over HD prices (as previously announced). SD still available as an option when you choose to download something, if youre crazy
Looks like it should be capable of several hours worth of music.what about battery life when streaming from Apple Music, a feature Apple specifically advertised during the event? Can we even stream a full album before the battery dies?
All-Day Battery Life
Up to 18 hours
All-day battery life is based on 18 hours with the following use: 90 time checks, 90 notifications, 45 minutes of app use, and a 30-minute workout with music playback from Apple Watch via Bluetooth, over the course of 18 hours. Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) usage includes connection to iPhone via Bluetooth during the entire 18-hour test. Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) usage includes a total of 4 hours of LTE connection and 14 hours of connection to iPhone via Bluetooth over the course of 18 hours. Testing conducted by Apple in August 2017 using preproduction Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) and Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), each paired with an iPhone; all devices tested with prerelease software. Battery life varies by use, configuration, and many other factors; actual results will vary.

Does any one know what actually happens to your downloaded iOS apps when you install iTunes 12.7? Does it just delete them, or just no longer points to the app files? If it leaves them there do we just delete the app folder?
What happens to older devices that actually look for them? I assume iTunes will know what to do with it and not actually sync, but I still have an iPad 1 on iOS 5.
Yeah I saw the support page. Ironically, users now have their drag to drop to install lol.I think it leaves them in the file structure but just doesnt show them in iTunes. Because they have an article that says you can manually drag this stuff straight to your device through iTunes, it just doesnt enter the iTunes library first anymore

It signifies an LTE model Apple Watch as opposed to an GPS one.Excited for iPhone X and Apple TV 4k and series 3 Watch with cellular.

Did they raise the prices on the plus model?
Seems very expensive, but I can't remember if the price of the 7+ was just as high when it launched.
UK pricing for new models went up again. (yes I know there are more GBs)
- but the 7/7+ launched at
32GB - £599 / £719
128GB - £699 / £819
256GB - £799 / £919
while the 8 / 8+ is now
64GB - £699 / £799
256GB - £849 / £949
and the X is:
64GB - £999
256GB - £1149
The 8 is a pretty weak upgrade honestly, the 7 seems like a really good buy with the price drop unless you really want wireless charging.
There are pics when you go to select model. It looks similar in shade to the space grey aluminium I think. No pics or videos of the new gray ceramic Edition.
Apple proports 70% faster CPU? But we wont see any video comparisons until launch right?
Apple is already way ahead of the game in single core performance. I wonder how this new 6 independent core design stacks up. This could potentially put them in a considerable lead in multi-core performance too.The four "low power" cores are 70% faster than the low-power cores in the A10 Fusion. The two "high power" cores are 25% faster.
The big story is that apparently apps can address all six, rather than only the two high power ones (on the A10, the two low-power cores were managed by the system and used only for apps running in the background).
Space grey is a lighter grey color, but the new iPhones look more black to me.
Isn't it regular marketing practice these days to prime people with expectations regarding price bumps? At this point, i'm inclined to think John Gruber works for Apple or has some desperate need for Apple success to maintain the status quo.
Two months ago, he stated the new iPhone could be $1500 and now $999 seems reasonable. Well it worked on me! $999 doesn't seem like that much. It almost makes the $699 for the iPhone 8 seem like a bargain!
Seriously though, for the majority of people, I bet they'll grumble a bit and pay it for pretty much the most used device in everybody's lives. Heck if it was $2000 I bet people would still pay it. If people from less well off countries on way way lower salaries will pay it, im sure its not in the Ferrari levels of unaffordable luxury item yet.
Depends on the region, but from what I see in the UK, yes the entry to each "level" is higher than it was last year. (Quoting myself![]()
God damn it's so expensive. And they scratched the 128 gb option, the one probably most people would buy.
