I might change my mind after I try the X in person though.

Everyone shit on that OLED pad on the MBP but when I tried it I thought it was off the hook.

You never know until you get it in your hands.

The 8 doesn't have a physical button, it'll be like the 7's "button". It's just a haptic feedback vibrate thing under a button-like cut out.

The 6s/6s+/SE were the last iPhones with an actual physical button. The 7's kind of feels like one once you get used to it I guess, but it's nothing like a regular button when you wind up having to push an actual home button again.

Going with the 8+. The X is ugly as fuck. FaceID as the only option is stupid.

You go for the X if you care about the design and the OLED. That's about it.

The 8+ has the same CPU, GPU, and basically the same camera (I believe the X has a little better front facing camera, maybe I'm wrong) without all the gimmick and half baked shit on the X.

Idk if I'd say "crappy", but it's very different than traditional buttons. I upgraded my mom from a baby's first smartphone type phone to an SE last week and couldn't get over how much better the button felt than the "button" on my 7.

You're probably best off trying it out either way. On first try though, I'd imagine the button on the 8 won't really do much to make you think you need it. And once anybody see the X in person vs the regular 8/8+ they won't even think about it. The X looks so ridiculously nice compared to it. It's like a 1st gen iPhone compared to any other smartphone that was out at the time.

Better screen + resolution
Better battery life
Better form factor
Better cameras

Plus at the end of the day the 8 is literally just a 6sss. Like, you can go buy a 6s and get largely the exact same experience. That phone came out in 2015. It's 2017, about to be 2018. Why would you pay $800 for the exact same experience you've been getting?

You don't know it's a better battery life...

We just know the 10 is 2 hours longer than an iPhone 7. Not so much how the 8 and 8+ compare to the 10.

I'd stick with the 8+ because FaceID is going to take longer than TouchID, and that bar on the top of the 10 looks horrible. I'd wait until they can embed TouchID into the screen. The 10 feels like a beta test. Wait till the 2nd iteration if you want to enjoy the experience. Unless you really need those animojis. The 8+ has the same hardware inside it except the cameras being a tad bit better, and the screen. I guess it just comes down to that screen looking terrible. If you're going to get rid of the bezels then it should look more like the Galaxy and less like the iPhone X.

How is Face ID going to take longer than Touch ID? Touch ID requires you to look at your phone, grab it, place your finger, and wait for it to read it. If any part of your finger is dirty or covered by something, it doesn't work.

With Face ID all you do is glance at the phone. And it's 20x more secure than Touch ID fingerprints are.

I mean if you think the bar at the top of the X looks bad, what do you think about the borderline-second phone sized bezels of the 6/7/8+? That shit is objectively worse, you're just used to it by now.

Also an OLED screen virtually guarantees a better battery life over something that's almost the same internally but with a standard LED screen. The only way that's not going in the X's favor is if Apple puts a significantly bigger battery in the 8+ than the X.

The X is smaller. We don't know if it's rocking a smaller battery because it's OLED.

I can have my phone unlocked while taking it out of my pocket with TouchID. With FaceID you have to look into the front facing camera at a certain distance and then swipe up on the screen. It will obviously take longer, and it'll suffer from the same random misses as TouchID. You even saw yourself as it failed to open during the demo on the 1st try. And lol at the whole FaceID is more secure. Has anyone ever unlocked your phone using touchid? Probably not. Don't buy into the marketing.

They pretty much said if you have an identical twin you're screwed too. The next iteration will have TouchID embedded in the screen. That's the one to buy. Not this.
 
shit I'm still rocking a LG2. still works great and does everything new phones can do

wife on the other hand has a 7 plus and will probably want the new one now
 
Whoever has Steelers as #1 in power rankings is dumb. My team barely beat the Browns, and while the Browns probably aren't terrible anymore, they're not that great yet either.

Plus I think those same ones has the Browns ranked like #30 lol

This man speaks the truth. If you need an iPhone this year get the 8+.
Next year will be the time to get the new "X." Having touchid embedded in the screen will be much better than face unlock. They will work out some of the issues and improve the specs too. I'm hoping next year they go higher than 12mp. I actually don't like the camera on my 7+ all that much.
 
Still trying to find my NFL team. Narrowed it down to ten with the help of some legends here.

Thinking of picking a team each week and watching their game until someone sticks, but I'll probably just end up watching highlights for everyone to start with.
 
Guess we will see if green bays defense is any good with a test vs the Falcons this week.

Ps: the s8+ is an amazing phone and lol at the X
