Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I'm 271 and if I turn in tokens I still get 265 gear. When do they scale up because I've been struggling getting any higher.

Once you get to 275-ish, you'll get drops at 267/268. At 280, you'll start getting drops around 275-ish. The legendary drops will always be 5-7 light below your current light level.

What did you find the easiest way of raising your LL? Public events and sacrifices to the dark lord for exotics?
Public events. Exotics helped as well but since they are rare drops, PEs were what helped out the most. Then once I hit the soft cap on blues and vendor legendaries, I went and did the weekly stuff.

Alts were far easier to raise up high due to moving over my highest LL weapons over to them. I simply kept transferring the highest LL weapons to each of my characters and just kept infusing.

I did the same thing this reset, simply hunting down blues, hitting the new soft cap for my characters, and then doing the weekly stuff.

I definitely think this is better than D1, not sure it will have the same longevity though? It feels like a bit of a missed opportunity to really nail the long term reward system beyond raiding.

I'm honestly not gonna fault anyone for take a critical approach to Destiny 2. I haven't watched this guys videos other than the one linked in that post, but assuming he's not making up lies about the game, I don't see why he should be discounted as a valid source of information.

Personally looking at the linked video, I think that sounds and looks incredibly disappointing. And it's not like this guy is the only one that have pointed out that the campaign is staggeringly easy, so I don't have much reason to discount what he's saying or showing just because he's being highly critical in how he says it.

Arguing that the base campaign is designed to be doable by all players is fine and valid, it should be. But I think doing so at the expense of everyone who don't enjoy practically walking through levels without any challenge is a pretty bad move. Engaging combat scenarios and enemy AI is a hallmark of Bungie games, and to more or less remove that is crazy to my mind, and I don't think it's something that you can downplay by saying that it's "just" for the 16 missions story campaign.

At the end of the day there should really just have been 2-3 difficulties to choose from, instead of only making it available in what sounds like the equivalent of easy mode.

BDobbins is aggressively critical, but even as a fan of the game overall, I have a hard time arguing with his points. He expects a lot more out of Destiny than what Bungie is providing, which is reasonable considering the budget behind the game.

One of his videos that launched around the beta was "Stop Defending Bungie", which basically talked about how the game has serious flaws/shortcomings that people should hold Bungie accountable for, but so many people in the community belong to the "Church of Destiny" and will find any reason to dismiss or defend criticism, no matter how valid.

The comments section for that video was full of people doing exactly what he talked about in the video, which was hilarious.

He also wants classes to mean more than they do in Destiny, which I'm 100% on board for. Right now it's basically "what do you want your super and grenade to be", moreso than playing actual useful roles in a fireteam. People seemed to only read the title of that video and before replying instead of listening to the content (it was titled "Destiny needs Overwatch heroes" or something along those lines).

I get why Destiny diehards don't like Bdobbins, but the game would be better with his suggestions.

so i just beat the game last night and lvl 20, what now? sorry if question been asked already ....this my first destiny game ....i wanna boost up for raid if possible

Follow the leveling guide (which I think is in the OT).

Chances are you might not be able to raid this week, but you should be gucci by next week.

So, if I infuse my 279 Namless Midnight with a 303 MIDA, Namless will go to 298. Correct?
Can you make mods yet? It so, scarp any legendary mods you don't need for mod parts. And click make weapon mods. Try to get kinetic weapon mod to add +5 power. It is rng so it may take a bit, but it's worth it.

Is the armor for your Titan, Warlock, and Hunter all from Io?

Does it though?

I mean it's great publicity, but I see it as more of a huge, temporary boost if anything. People do huge things on streams all the time. They never get anything from it unless they were already streaming and asking for donations to begin with.

The girl who got to the end of PT didn't get shit and that was huge.
She did it without developer help too. Man I didn't know Bungie gave top streamers hints that's bull.

Getting a Jabba's Palace vibe from reading about Emperor Callus and the Leviathan. I wonder if we actually fight Emperor Callus.
I think we will. There was an adventure that talked about a loyalist cabal faction. I assume that's his troops and the ones we'll be fighting during the raid.

Do adventures, normal vanguard playlist strikes, crucible and public events till you get to 265. Do NOT do the following before you hit 265:

1. Pick up Exotic Engram from Zavala.
2. Nightfall.
3. Turn in Crucible Milestone for "Powerful Gear".
4. Pick up Clan Engram from Hawthorne.
5. Treasure hunting through Cayde's maps.
6. Flashpoint.

Save all of these activites till AFTER you're 265.

The zone vendor Engram rewards?

Don't those stop at 265 no matter what?
They go up, but will always remain below your gear level so you won't be able to climb with them. It's mostly so you can boost alts higher, or for getting a higher powered weapon in a class you don't have a strong one in to infuse.

Nah, they keep going as you level up.

Yeah, but will they be higher than your current power level?

In other words. Im 270 right now. Can I turn in my tokens for legendary gear that is HIGHER than 270, or does the legendary gear after 265 scale behind your progress at this point? (Ie, we are left with exotic quests and the weeklies, (and raid)).

Yeah, but will they be higher than your current power level?

Vender gear will never be higher then yours.

Milestones and sometimes blue drops will help you infuse to higher gear. When you reach 280 it's all about adding mods to your weapons and armor.

The answer to that is no. If anything, when you turn in tokens, you're hoping for exotics and legendary gear with +5 mods tbh.

And even exotics can be lower than your max power to the point where it doesn't help at all.

Got an exotic engram today from a heroic event I ran as fast as I could to the tower to decode it. Legendary Sniper Rifle my worst weapon in any fps. : (

I can't disagree with the bolded part more. This is entirely subjective. He wants Destiny to be a completely different game. His suggestions basically elude to Destiny being more like Overwatch. Perusing his video history, he even had one titled "Destiny needs Overwatch characters". I don't want that nor do I think it would make Destiny better. It would make Destiny NOT Destiny.

So to tell someone to "stop defending Bungie" when they are enjoying the content...? He's a classic example of the "hey I don't like the thing so no one should like the thing".

I think, emphasis on think, it depends on if you're a 'true' 270 or got there with mods.

There are so many things Bungie could do to make Destiny the GOAT, so many of which are low hanging fruit. TBH I'm a bit shocked that D2 is so much "more of the same" rather than pushing things further. I put 1000 hours into D1, so more of the same is great and I love D2. But man, the possibilities are endless if Bungie wasn't being so conservative.

And the "Church of Destiny" thing is spot on. Reddit sub is full of those folks.

Even if Vendor Gear has a soft cap, unless you're planning on using the Weapons to boost alt characters, may as well use the vendor turn ins to boost your LL when you're low imo.

I didn't watch his video. I've never seen a single video from him. However looking at the titles of his video uploads for every game... he always takes the negative angle for hits.

Which means that his points don't matter. "He has valid points" isn't credible at all because 1. No game is ever perfect and 2. One person's "improvements" is another persons "overcomplications." It's not empirical.

So while a person may agree with his criticisms and suggested improvements... there's really no positive to giving him views or talking up his opinions because his entire marketing perspective is to always laser focus on negative things for views.

The clan rewards LL is determined when it drops, isn't it?
It's determined when you take it from Hawthorne, tested this yesterday.

I bought gear from Hawthorne and watched the power level of the engram I still had to pick up from Hawkthorne go up relative to my current average power level that just increased from buying that gear.

I definitely think this is better than D1, not sure it will have the same longevity though? It feels like a bit of a missed opportunity to really nail the long term reward system beyond raiding.

This is my biggest fear for the game along with whether I will want to explore these new planets.

I don't know how to explain this but the discovery of these new worlds has rendered me speechless but at the same time, I have zero inclination to explore every corner of these areas. What I don't know is if burn out is contributing to this concern or if the reward system may be the problem.

Hey guys!

Uff_Duh, DNAbro, R0ckman and I need 2 more for the Raid today! We're gonna be starting somewhere around 2:15EST so if you're available and without a Raid team, please feel free to join us!

PS4 by the way. My PSN is same as GAF.

Is the armor for your Titan, Warlock, and Hunter all from Io?
Most of the Hunter set is the Errant Knight set. From what I've seen, you can get the set from any non-Banshee vendor rank up and from legendary engrams. The helmet is a crucible rank up/game possible drop.

For the Titan, the chest and legs are crucible armor. The helm drop location is the same as my Hunter's Errant Knight stuff.

I don't really remember how I got most of the warlock stuff. I know the helm was from a legendary engram. The rest, I'm unsure.

I don't really watch streams often, but does anyone know of a good streamer that's laid back and not annoying that will be running the raid at opening time today? I'm stuck at work, but I can have a live stream playing while I'm here.

I'm at 285 and have to wait til Friday to do he raid with my clan. Besides milestones is there any other way for me to raid my PL until then, besides making another character of the same class?

Gah I'd be in but I'm at work.

It's pretty amazing how sleep and responsibility actively screws you over in Destiny. I have no idea where my life was back in vanilla.

The clan rewards LL is determined when it drops, isn't it?

I don't think so. I've only got anecdotal proof of my own when I say that I got a much more powerful engram from Hawthorne than I thought possible AFTER I had leveled up a bit more in Light level. Although, I must admit that I hadn't even checked the light level by going to her when the milestone showed that I could turn it in to get the reward. However, I think all "Powerful Gear" milestones can be delayed till you're higher light level. If I'm wrong, someone can correct me, but my own experience aligns with what I said earlier.

I've decided to say to hell with it in regards to worrying about the most efficient way to get my light level up. I'm just playing the game, exploring all that I can and completing the story at my leisure. I'm light level 236 and have not even finished the story yet. I feel like the game was intended to be played this way... you will advance by doing what you like. Obviously there are more efficient ways to level but in a month its not going to matter anyways.

Man I may have to go dark until Friday since I won't be able to raid until then. Maybe I'll work on my second char since my hunter is good to go.

Super excited to see what the raid is about. Going to try it blind with my raid team a couple times before resorting to Guided games or LFG.

Can anyone tell me how loot worked in D1 for raids? Were you guaranteed a drop from each boss? Also, did raids have unique exotics? Are we expecting exotics in the raid that aren't on generic loot tables?

Hum, interesting.

So even though the engram drops at (for example) 270.. If I wait until my character is above 275 & check the engram again, the LL will have increased to match my new level?

Sorry for the questions, just want to make sure I'm understanding that correctly as I always get these as soon as they're available.

Powerful Gear will roll items with higher power than what you have. w/o legendary mods too.

This was kind of where I was a few days ago. I knew I'd be *behind* since I got the game later than others, and restarted a character because I fell asleep playing as a Warlock.
