Wkd BO 0908-1017 - Beep beep, Reese. I- I- I- I- It floats. Oh , yes. It floats.

Homecoming fell off a cliff.

20.5M RMB this Friday vs 135M last Friday. So an 85% drop. This weekend should be around $10M in total, bringing Homecoming to around $100M in China. I don't know what a reasonable finish is at this point. $110-115M? Apes didn't help with the drop today, but I think that next weekend is lighter. Either way, the total will be quite a bit lower than the opening weekend suggested.

War For the Planet of the Apes opened to close to $20M on Friday (plus midnights) in China.

Dawn of Apes went seemed to make around $100M in China. I had no clue War hadn't opened there yet. Even if it manages to match Dawn's numbers in China, I don't think War will be passing $500M WW.

Second time this week I'm getting 'website blocked' warnings from Malware Bytes. Not sure if it's a false positive or what, but it's almost certainly coming from hotlinked images on that domain.

Okay, mother! was awesome. It definitely isn't for everybody, that's for damn sure. The frat boys a few rows back were definitely mad at the end of it, but I am riding some weird high after it.

And if you see it, make sure the theater has a great sound system. I can't imagine this thing in stereo or mono.

Yessss

Come join us in the mother! threads.

A Ghost Story is in my top 10 of the year. You should probably brace yourself for its artsy fartsy-ness, though.

At least the trailer wasnt misleading on that front.

It Comes at Night had the most amusing post-film audience reactions of the year.

One guy turned to his buddy and said "what the fuck did you just make me pay for?"

I also heard "I thought you said you watched a trailer for this", and "I'm not letting you choose the next film" from other people.

LOL why is that so funny. All the reviews i read/heard lead off with "it's not what the trailers make it out to be"

I mean, I know people confuse "I don't know a thing" with "That's a spoiler" but that's not a spoiler.

If you're a pre-release toy, nothing about your existence in the movie is a spoiler.

Spesking of toys. I made the mistake of going into a Toys R Us with a tired kid today, and between tantrums I saw a ton of Last Jedi stuff. The Disney machine is gearing up.

I think it will be interesting to see how the rest of Hollywood interprets the success of IT in regards to September releases, "me too" approaches to the tone of IT, etc.

Stranger Things, Blade Runner and IT

Expect Duran Duran soundtracks and scores that sound like John Carpenter.

They will probably remake Goonies and Stand By Me if that isn't already a thing.

Blade Runner is an odd inclusion there.

I didn't buy anything on Force Friday II, but working in retail I was very aware of it.

My social circle is pretty free of our brand of geekdom (aside from one brother), so I am isolated from any of that in day to day life. I have never heard a mention of Force Friday outside of here, and maybe a movie trade site or two.

It makes sense why there is suddenly merch everywhere now that you mention it, but I wasn't expecting it. Some of those lego sets look cool. Junior high me would have been shoveling a lot of driveways this winter.

I got a Lando, but it wasn't Force Friday, it was because a friend and I were on our way to a screening and hit a Fred Meyer deli for cheap food that wasn't total garbo, and there was an end cap by the checkout with Star Wars toys in it and I was like "Hey, that's LANDO"

First time I've bought a Star Wars toy in awhile.

Only Star Wars toys I buy are some LEGO sets. Which if you all are looking for an awesome Star Wars toy, I highly recommend the new Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike.

I didn't really have Star Wars toys growing up. I think I had a Darth Vader, a Luke, a couple Ewoks, a speeder bike, and a broken TIE fighter. That was pretty much it. Oh, and an Emperor, I think.

Didn't really have too many Transformers, either. Like, KUP, I think? And maybe Thundercracker?

We didn't have a lot of money growing up. I basically had to try and kitbash toys out of household items and whatever LEGO was in the LEGO bucket.

Don't touch anything on Force Friday. It will all be on clearance next year (maybe not the LEGO).

If action figures still work the way they did when I was younger, all the cool stuff will be gone, and the clearance bins will be loaded with 50 copies of Maz, or whoever TLJ equivalent is.

Why is he posed so majestically?

And it looks like his foot is inching its way in front of your screen, cutting off precious pixels. For shame.
