stay shilling capcom games that look like shit. i bet you have a an imgur folder ready any time someone insults your precious sfv and now mvci.

real shit, why do you only post drive by trash? Not just this thread but every thread. Why are you so mad?

This game looks rough in a a lot of places by those screenshots are fine, and that Strange render is too.

this thread really is stuck in a time loop isnt it? :D

Impressions from someone that plays fighting games casually:

- Gameplay is a blast. It's fun, it's punchy, it runs flawlessly.
- Mission mode does a great job of introducing you to the first combos other than auto ones. And it also shows how there are mechanics for combos in common across characters, which is nice and makes me willing to explore the roster more. It's a standard fighting game mission mode otherwise. As always, eventually something shows up that I just can't get the timing down.
- Not sure how relevant are the PS4Pro enhancements. It certainly doesn't look 4K sharp
- Haven't tried the Story mode yet.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I expected to just play the Story Mode and shelve it, but now I haven't even started that yet because I'm genuinely compelled by the gameplay.

Fantastic to hear from a more casual player. Really glad you're having a great time with it.

I've been saying for a long time I think this game has more for casuals on all fronts, and will be great for the hardcore scene as well. I truly think this game will have more for both types of players than UMvC3.

I also would've preferred if they had gone with non-photorealistic rendering like most of their previous fighters but whatcha gonna do.

But I can't agree with people that insist this game looks like shit or something, on the whole it looks pretty good.

Cherry-picked screenshots, my dude.

Ohhh MvCi has online training mode! delight!

was this known?

Oh, one more thing:

The final arcade mode boss seems like typical fighting game insanity.

It crushed my Ryu+Arthur pair 10+ times after I had fun playing up to it.

I did unlock one color for each after quitting out. How do unlockables work?

Jesus, I even remember you posted the same gif to a similar comment before in this thread/the previous roster discussion thread.

he did... to ME saying we were stuck in a time loop.

I was really hoping he would post it again to make this perfect, and he did lol

Real talk: Human and humanoid models still have whack proportions, and skin looks really bad. Faces are still mostly trash garbage, even the "fixed" ones, with dead eyes and vacant stares. The models don't seem to be good enough to even good allow facial expressions.

Basically the only good looking characters are those that are inhuman (hyuk) enough, or that are so cartoony that they can't be ruined by it. Arthur doesn't fall in this category for whatever reason.

Add this to a disturbing lack of details and questionable decisions and a general UI that's either ugly as sin or PSASBR-looking and visually this can very much be an underwhelming package, if you care about that sort of thing. Sure it has neat particle effects, but those can't mask the actually really bad renders in the CSS and win screens.

That and the entire game is smeared with good old dollop of chromatic aberration, which is not a pretty sight.

Further compound this with an, at best, lacking roster and blatant disregards for the series' roots (and no it doesn't matter why this is disregarded, it's still a disregard) and you should be able to see why people aren't very keen on this game.

I mean, you can also disregard all of these complaints as "memes" or whatever. That works too, I guess.

YOOOO.

Why is SFV still hurting for shit MvC:I now has at launch. Between this and simultaneous matches in lobbies, this is getting ridiculous.
Yah and Capcom isn't even advertising it lol. That is a huge selling point to me as opposed to SFV launching with 2 player lobbies (and no FFA lobbies). MvC:i lobbies will actually be useful to GAF discords, because you won't have to wait for fucking ever to fight. Just need to see if you have FT2, Ft3, FT5 options.

Probably because Sorcerer Supreme was a serious Marvel 3 player, and one of the best players here on GAF. People who love a game aren't happy when the sequel falls short of their expectations.

Chun-Li's massive facelift made her look better than nearly every other character, and by better, I mean better than average, which isn't something I can say for most of the cast. I'm quite impressed. Chris also got a good noticeable facelift.
Better than the average MvCi character, or better than average modern game graphics?

I can't agree with the latter. I think a lot of people here have just been watching so much MvCi that the graphics have become less shocking to them over time. The game doesn't look good in the graphics department.

The gameplay looks solid, though, and that's all that's making the game a potential purchase for me right now.

Captain marvel looks great, and CHun face looks fine too now.
Have you been playing other current-gen games? Chun-li still looks sub-par, and Captain Marvel looks like some freakish mannequin.

Just look at Injustice 2 faces and tell me MvCi is even in the same letter grade with a straight face:

Oh yea, she looks like way better than anything in this game by a larger margin. It's really weird.
Just like most of the newer characters.. Capcom should have kept this in the oven for like 3-6 months. But I know development going longer costs a shit ton of money so...

i've thought the game looks terrible since day 1. am i not free to say so as a fan of the series? i'm not sorry if my expectations for a new capcom fighting game aren't incredibly low that i'm willing to just accept anything capcom puts out. i have something like 1000+ hours in marvel 3 across every platform it was made available so it's not like i don't care about this series.

generally speaking women tend to look better in games like this because they add less details to their faces 'cause they "have to look pretty" and stuff. :|

Or maybe the people that Monster Hunter's model got outsourced to have way better handle on converting concept art to 3D graphics.

Did they ever trash that awful "slow motion" effect after a KO that drops the framerate to simulate slo-mo? That was horrible in the demo.
no

The only baffling UI choice, IMO, is the awful Ryu+Captain Marvel splash screen. Everything else ranges from generic to good.

PSABR this is not.

The Collection mode has lots of art, music, and character models. The Mission mode completion board looks great.

^ I meant every thread , not just Marvel related. Dude is always huffing and puffing like a less constructive ZTS.

SFV's DLC characters look better than some of the launch characters. DLC characters can benefit from the blowback the launch roster/game receives so I imagine that's happening here.

And some of the launch characters do not look bad. Iron Man (Tony face aside), X, Zero, Strider, and a couple others look great. They probably used some really cheap outsourced artists for some of the characters and made some in-house. I bet Strider and MonHun was done in-house.

I'm honestly enjoying this game more than MvC 3 when it launched. I didn't follow the development of the game after the disappointing SF5 and I thought most of the videos looked kinda shitty but I'm happy to eat crow now.

The graphics during gameplay have grown on me, the UI and most cutscenes still look really shitty and low budget. The long loading times on Xbox remind me of Tekken 7 (also an UE4 game).

My favorite characters right now: Gamora, Dante, Chun-Li, Zero and Captain Marvel.

Would the legacy problem be fixed if Capcom just told everyone it was a reboot?

It probably would.

I'm pretty sure Persia stated that its a UMVC3 exhibition not mvci.
She stated there are MVCI setups (provided by Capcom) for the players and spectators to play.
RyanLv has retweeted people complaining about not being able to get MVCI early like other pro players. But that was earlier this week, maybe he got the game and has practiced.Maybe i heard wrong- because I would love see a MVCI exhibition w/ those players.
I remember hearing MvC:I explicitly, with Yipes saying that's where the game will be going. The UMvC3 exhibitions were yesterday, I think. In any case, there's definitely something MvC:I related tonight.

Not that I don't trust Keits, but can I get proof or a pic or something?

I just finished the OT goddamnit and this game continues to get new shit added to it/announced.

I'm not saying that your complaints about MvCI's visuals aren't valid, but you did also claim that SFV looked terrible.
game looks terrible just like sfv
Ken's face aside, SFV looks solid & puts SFIV's visuals to shame. Though to be fair, SFIV didn't age very well in the looks department. But to suggest that SFV looks similar to MvCI in quality is just blind hate on SFV's part (again, I'm not invalidating your complains towards the visuals of MvCI).

So the game is actually fairly feature complete, has some decent QoL stuff and the gameplay is solid.

It's the roster + the artstyle that sucks donkey balls. Hmm, that means I'm making the right call by getting this game next year because at least by then the roster issue will be rectified.
Well, they already redone her model anyway so

Just want to post it here but not sure if it got posted in this thread yet.

I already posted that in this thread, though Ash Paulsen did post a video showing off the costumes & colors.

Apparently the splash screen is actually your Fighter Card, which you can customize with your team & your favorite stage. I'd personally still prefer the Story Demo's background, but at least there's a legitimate reason for the change.

It's weird though because we had a marvel producer on day 1 name dropping COTA and saying that legacy is not lost.
Even more ironic that it was Marvel, the ones ultimately responsible for the missing Fox characters, who said that. Granted, I get that it was mainly the Marvel Entertainment executives who were to blame & not Marvel Games themselves, but still.

I said all that? I said you have to like everything Capcom puts out? No I said all your post are drive by shit post and that's a fact. Nothing constructive, and it ain't just Marvel.

Would the legacy problem be fixed if Capcom just told everyone it was a reboot?

It probably would.
Probably, yeah. These types of things tend to be more emotional, so even a public placation could have done wonders for this game's reception. So many things with the PR for this game could have been better.

I just finished the OT goddamnit and this game continues to get new shit added to it/announced.
Less "announced" and more "discovered because darnit capcom advertise your game!"

Well, I mean, can you deny the lack of detail? :P
