Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Gameplay/Pre-Launch Discussion Thread

My biggest problem with the game is the roster. They could have done so much better. If i look at the character select screen (which is by the way one of the ugliest ever) there isn't really anyone there i wanna play as so here is hoping they add tons of new chars later (looking at you X-Men). Then i will buy the game, but for now i have no interest in it, but i will watch for sure some streams.

Well, they already redone her model anyway so

I know but they only fixed her face after the fan backlash.

To think this model was almost pushed into the game... I imagine if there wasn't such a big backlash this would be our Chun li...

Real talk: Human and humanoid models still have whack proportions, and skin looks really bad. Faces are still mostly trash garbage, even the "fixed" ones, with dead eyes and vacant stares. The models don't seem to be good enough to even good allow facial expressions.

Basically the only good looking characters are those that are inhuman (hyuk) enough, or that are so cartoony that they can't be ruined by it. Arthur doesn't fall in this category for whatever reason.

Add this to a disturbing lack of details and questionable decisions and a general UI that's either ugly as sin or PSASBR-looking and visually this can very much be an underwhelming package, if you care about that sort of thing. Sure it has neat particle effects, but those can't mask the actually really bad renders in the CSS and win screens.

That and the entire game is smeared with good old dollop of chromatic aberration, which is not a pretty sight.

Further compound this with an, at best, lacking roster and blatant disregards for the series' roots (and no it doesn't matter why this is disregarded, it's still a disregard) and you should be able to see why people aren't very keen on this game.

I mean, you can also disregard all of these complaints as "memes" or whatever. That works too, I guess.

Real talk? everything you said is completely valid. and you have every right to feel that way. Just one question. Why are you still here then?

For example, im not too keen on NRS games. I think their animations are stiff as hell and I dont like the gameplay. And yet I have never been in a Injustice thread posting "LOL THESE ANIMATIONS! MAN FUCK THIS GAME!"

"RAIDEN? WHAT IS THIS MORTAL KOMBAT?"

I dont like PUBG so I dont go on PUBG threads. I play HotS but not LOL/Dota, so I dont go to the lol/dota threads, I have nothing to contribute to them.

like, if I dont like or am interested in something, I dont engage in it. You are literally wasting time of your life posting about a game you dont like, that just doesnt compute with me. Dont mistake this with me saying you cant do it, you are a free man, and this is a public forum. I just dont understand the point of it.

You keep blurting out the same bullet points of problems every couple of days, is it for new people to see them or something? is it to remind the rest that these problems exist? "dont have too much fun kids, remember so and so and so are bad, dial it back now!"

Like, im actually asking you to explain that to me now. And im asking you specifically, and not the various other trolls I dont give 2 fucks about, because I actually like you lol.

My biggest problem with the game is the roster. They could have done so much better.

That's my biggest problem with the game too. I see the differences between MvC3's roster and MvCI's roster and it makes me think that MvCI's roster played it too safe, whereas MvC3 took more risks with characters like MODOK, Taskmaster and Resident Evil 5 Jill. I prefer creative rosters, and MvCI's doesn't come off as creative to me. Not yet, anyway. DLC may change my mind.

That said, the gameplay really turned me around. It turned me around enough that I pre-ordered the game through Green Man Gaming. It also helps that a friend of mine is super hyped about this game and is excited to play around with Ultron/Nemesis/Dormammu/Hulk. Meanwhile, after seeing gameplay I'm excited to play Haggar/Spencer/Thor/Ghost Rider/Dr. Strange. So, we'll go in hard for at least a while.

So, while I can't really defend the game if somebody says they don't like it because it looks like a big step backward, I personally am excited to actually play it.

My main my problem is the roster two but mainly because the lack of new characters and all the DLC characters you'll have to buy eventually. Probably not coping this, definitely not at launch. At least it's fun to watch.

MonHun has a sort of stoicness to her face that I'm a big fan of. I was anticipating a cuter character, but she is still great looking.

And yes, she looks way better than any other female in the game, no contest. She legit stands up to SFV's modeling from the bust shot we've seen.

Because he still wants the game to be good. Is this a difficult thing to understand? People who post here (even the drive by posts) have a vested interest in the game because they are taking time out of their lives to post in it. They want to be excited about the game, they want the game to be good. Constructive criticism is good even if it's just rehashing old stuff. If they could improve Chun Li's and Dante's model then they can improve other models too. They can add better shaders, change up the lighting.

If criticism is swept under the rug then we won't get improvements down the line. Capcom is so god damn dense when it comes to these things, if you aren't shouting at the top of your lungs then they will just ignore you. I actually can't believe that there isn't a bigger stink about the whole 1p rematch thing for example. And it's not going to get fixed anytime soon now because people aren't calling them out on it or making a meme about it.

It's fine to ask! I'm still here because I care a lot about the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise and because I'm sure I'll love the gameplay and because despite all of my misgivings nitpicks about the game I still Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. I do! I like what I've seen of the gameplay, and I want to see how the story mode unfolds (so much so that I've actually been avoiding spoilers for the story! Which I never do!). I want to play the game and fight online and loose horribly, 'cause the game looks fun. And I want the game to be better. And it could be.

If I ever come across as trying to "tone police" conversations, basically being like "hey, stop liking the thing", I'm sorry about that. That is not my intention. I just have spells of hype and then frustrations that crash that hype and lead me to air out my thoughts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's also not like I'm actively interrupting people when they're talking about some gameplay detail to say "but the graphics tho!".

For the official website of SFV, they constantly add unused artwork and a lot of fun stuff. Recently, they updated the website to include frame data, the ability to search for players and make profile cards and shit, and the ability to see costumes for all characters as well as all the possible colour combinations.

Though if you've just been playing the game, you're sure as shit not gonna know that because Capcpom didn't put any effort into letting people know that.

They even made it so that if you disconnect from the servers while playing survival, you can still keep playing and the result will be uploaded once you get your connection back.

Though if you've just been playing the game, there's a good chance you may not know that because Capcpom didn't put any effort into letting people know that.

Yeah there are a few people on here that need to go to r/Kappa lol

Eh, I'm okay with the constructive criticisms since Capcom need to listen to this. I meant Capcom actually listened to Single Player Contents and they mostly went out all with MVCI for this (bar no arcade endings tho) However they didt went out all on art styles, visual and UI.

So the game is actually fairly feature complete, has some decent QoL stuff and the gameplay is solid.

It's the roster + the artstyle that sucks donkey balls. Hmm, that means I'm making the right call by getting this game next year because at least by then the roster issue will be rectified.
#NeverForget

Hopefully there are enough people buying the game to ensure that we are going to get more supports for the game. If the games bombs, then we will lose the chance for Capcom to fix the issues we had with the roster since Marvel could pull the plug on the production. It's pretty much double edge. I'm not encouraging people to buy it at full price but just try to find the way to make it cheap like I did.

Worst marketing department too. They are so lucky they are good at gameplay otherwise people would have dropped it like a sack of spuds.

I did not say dont do constructive criticism. But saying "lol have fun paying $150 for the same roster as umvc3" and "yeah man fuck this game" is constructive how exactly?

Are they going to not have dlc all of a sudden because of those posts?

"this game looks like fucking garbage lol" thats constructive? Insulting other posts is constructive?

And youre actually saying that all the drive by shitposts are actually just all converned marvel fans that want capcom to improve the game? Jesus christ Bomb...

Maybe they're going for that "word of mouth" PR.

Let everyone think the game is shit until release and surprise everyone with a game thats "...surprisingly good. Even with lackluster graphics." -random forum poster in a "Should I Buy MvC:I?" thread

Its a bold strategy. Lets see if it pays off.

Its literally wasted effort if Capcom wont even do so much as put a link to the page directly from the game selection menu on the dashboard or make refrences to it in game. Why even bother??

People who shitpost in OTs and official threads aren't doing it for kicks. They generally have at the very least a fleeting interest.

It's every other thread (news, announcements) where shitposters just shitpost for the sake of shitposting.

The most believable theory (and it makes sense tbh) is that they're overhauling a lot of systems and adding new functionalities for the CFN to coincide with the launch of SSFV (or whatever they call it).

It doesn't matter. It's still shit at the end of the day.

Honestly, one of the down-side of Marvel having more control these days is that we may not get as many out-there choices like Sentinel or Shuma-Gorath on the Marvel side (both of whom were characters that Capcom had to fight for back in the MvC3 days, the latter of whom was only allowed as DLC).

Shuma is Meio tier of "who actually wanted him tho" :p

Modok is a better example imo.

My concern going forward is that the Marvel side will be overly-safe, even with the DLC choices. That's not to say that safe is bad, it'll definitely sell. But it'd be nice to have an oddball or two from time-to-time. The Capcom side has theirs, but the Marvel side seems to be slacking in this regard. And with no Seth Killian-like figure to legit fight Marvel for certain characters, it seems like Marvel will basically have their way 100% of the time.

to be expected. too much money in these damn movies now. still a good amount of highly requested MCU characters though so it shouldn't be too bad.

You guys are making Disney sad by not talking about how bad we all want Black Bolt and the chick that can punch with her hair.

I'd love to see how they translate Black Bolt in a fighting game lol.
