That kinda proves his point. Not everybody can do that with a job and kids. Some have to stay home with the kids and some are working early in the morning so they can't do this.

Job and kid haver here too. My job starts at 8 but even if I could have woken up early I still need to stay home to bring kids to school. I’m not worried about it as I have faith in Reggie these things will be in stock again soon. I had an amazon order placed on aug 22 but it seems like amazon didn’t get a single shipment of them

You don't just flip a switch and millions of pieces of hardware appear out of nowhere. You have to source parts and line up contracts with manufacturing facilities. Maybe they are at capacity, or maybe ordering more capacity would cost them more money. In the end, they are trying to make money, not trying to get a console in every person's hand. Just like the SNES Classic has supply and demand, so does all of the SNES Classic parts and Nintendo has to make a decision on where they want to meet that curve and what price point they want to pay for it.

Lol so there IS a defense force for this. Nothing of what you said makes any sense unless you factor in "they want to manufacture false scarcity." They knew how many they could sell and had more than enough time to manufacture them.

That's really lame. They should have used the power of emulation to fix that. Really. Paradoxically, not fixing this thing that was in the original release actually messes with nostalgia somewhat.
It's not that simple. They'd have to reprogram the game's sound code, or implement support for the fake MSU-1 "chip" byuu invented for BSNES which lets it play MP3 files instead of music. The former is a massive amount of hacking and reverse engineering work, and the second would require a lot of storage space and emulator support.

I see. That's really frustrating.

2 in Burbank Illinois, which is a 14 hour drive from my home.

Any chance I get it tomorrow? I’m praying over here!

It has to beat the expected 10/6 date right? It just HAS to!

Ft Myers here and wife and I both landed one at coconut point Best Buy. Lines at page field were crazy.

Going to have a happy child at Christmas!

Wife and the kids and I are headed to Coconut Point today for an Apple Store appointment.

Already scored mine this morning at a Target in Cape Coral.

Even if they didn't, that's just poor understanding if the marketing and makes them incompetent. So it's one of the other and I don't care which it's just stupid.

I woke up to an email from Wal-mart saying my preorder from 8/25 was backordered. Anyone else in the same situation?

The order page still says "Preparing order", nothing else. I wonder if that's an automatic notification for orders that haven't shipped in time?

Decided to try my luck at retail, so I went to Target at 8:15 after they had been open for 15 min already. They had a few shipper boxes of them back at electronics, but nobody was there! Electronics lady asked me if I wanted one and my eyes lit up and my heart started racing haha. As I was being rung up, like 5 people came running from the front that I saw standing in line at the GameStop right next to this Target. Now there is nobody in line at GameStop. Was easy. Granted, this is Montana we are talking about, but you never know because this town doesn't have a Best Buy so the options really are just GameStop, Target, and Walmart. I am going to click the "request cancelation" button on my Walmart preorder with much glee.

Does Brickseek actually stay up to date on whether or not a store has stock or should I just assume any place in NYC still listed as in-stock has sold out?

What's the situation like in the UK? It's out right? Is it impossible to get in-store at the moment?

Out today, pre-orders arrived in post today.

I was out at lunch, saw nothing in Tesco or Game or WH Smith.

A work colleague claimed Asda had stock for click and collect appear today which has now all gone.

A gaffer said their friend got one off a shelf in Smyths at lunch, although their website says out of stock country wide.

I guess it's waiting to see when/where the next batches will turn up.

It absolutely makes sense. Have you never heard of a small startup failing when they blow up and can't meet demand? Or when a kickstarter rockets up into the millions and fails miserably.

Scaling up has non-linear costs. Nintendo likely scaled up as much as they could until cost got prohibitive or capacity was strained. If you don't understand that, then I don't know what to tell you.

I had mine delivered 10 minutes ago. Ordered very soon after it went up for sale on Amazon.co.uk

So is Nintendo a startup or a kickstarter?

Everyone knows Nintendo is like a small start up or kickstarter. This is hilariously sad.

Okay this was easy. Seriously easy.

Went to Target at about 7:00, sat in my car until 7:30 got out walked up to the door, was #2 only about 20 people showed up (they had about 46 consoles). Was in and out in less than 3 min.

I didn't even need to show up an hour early, could have just strolled in around 8ish...

Good luck to everyone! I'll be on this thing as soon as I get off work!

If this sort of thing is true, then I think Reggie told lies. You do not wait 4-5 weeks for something you want. That still caters to the scalpers.

Yeah, that'd be crazy. They seem to be getting Switches out there nearly weekly now. Taking a month or more to get more Classics out there would be fucking nuts. The scalpers who walked away with mountains of these today would be thrilled.

Local Tustin Best Buy - line of about 60+ folks, but no tickets handed out. Best Buy employee surveyed the line asking if anyone had a pre-order. None had one. Still no idea how many they got or if they’re offering tickets. Seems like for now we have to wait until 10am to find out anything.

Tried Target but they only had 50 and I was 56 in line. Said more would be coming next week.
