You can get one right now if you live near one of the Amazon instant pickup locations (there's only 6 of them). Install the Amazon app on your phone - this is a smart phone only deal. Then go to the instant pickup section and you'll see them for sale for $80 + tax.

I just ordered and am heading to get mine now. They're ready to pick up in a matter of minutes.

How can I order just from Amazon.ca, not one of the scummy scalpers on there? I don't care if I'm on a wait list, but I can't even find the listing.

Mine still shows preparing on their site and I got an email saying its backordered. It will be sent if they get more by 10/7, cancelled if not. Hopefully you're not in the same boat.

I chatted w/ Walmart yesterday and was told it would ship and deliver today. No chance that happens. Woke up to a backorder email and chatted them again. Was told it would ship today and I am good. Still "Preparing", so we'll see what happens.

Man it sucks that you can't fucking trust anything the reps or site tell you since they are consistently contradicting each other. This shit is such a fucking shit show. Ordering a god damn retro toy shouldn't be this stressful.

There are going to be restocks through the end of the year, in one of the other threads people were saying in the next week or two stores are expecting to get the same number of SNES Classics in that they got for launch. I'd hold off on paying eBay prices for at least another week or two.

It's WAY too early to be calling for blood. Reggie and Nintendo said they'd make more and keep them stocked through the rest of 2017. If a few weeks go by or a month and there's no restocks, by all means call them out for being full of shit. But we're on launch morning here people. Follow Wario64 on Twitter and turn your notifications on. If more go up for sale in the next few days/weeks/months, he will be the first person to know.

I have notifications on (and Wario followed). It's annoying to care about a crappy piece of plastic Nintendo could have made abundantly available at any point in the past I don't even know how many years so much that I sacrifice sleep to roll over and check a notification at 3 in the morning. Every time this happens, we say it's stupid and we won't be tricked again but yet it happens over and over and over.

I don’t see this option on my app.

Exactly. If I'd have known this shit was gonna happen, I'd have gone out last night to get one at a Midnight opening. Waiting until the day of release to tell me it's backordered (email came at 2am) is horseshit. Learned my lesson w/ Walmart pre-orders now.

It says you have to have the latest version of the app to see Instant Pickup. Here's a picture from Amazon showing it.

So out of curiosity I plugged in the 8bitdo wireless dongle I had been using with the NES Classic and 8bitdo’s NES Controller (the square classic looking one with 4 face buttons, not the analog one). My SNES Classic picked it up no problem, but the X and Y buttons register as secondary A and B buttons. The down+Select as Home work.

Can I pair my 8bitdo SFC30/SNES30 with this dongle? If so, what’s that pairing process? And, does this work with the SNES Classic as expected?

It works exactly like it does on the NES with the duplicated buttons and everything. They're supposedly working on an update that will make it work properly, but for now, it's not quite right.

I’m guessing instant pickup only displays if you live close to a instant pickup location.

Maybe I’ll have this if Amazon makes that 2nd HQ in Shirley, Long Island. Would be ~20 minutes from my house.

It's still the first day of availability. If we don't get adequate restocks I will be angry beside you, but you can't expect everyone that wants a new piece of highly demanded hardware to get one launch day. The logistics of that would be a nightmare.

Not sarcasm. It really looks like any Walmart pre-orders that have not shipped by now are on backorder.
Damn. That's disgraceful. They charged me the moment I put in my preorder.

I'm going to call them and give them a piece of my mind tomorrow if I don't get it by the end of the day. It's ridiculous.

I feel bad because I got mine from a Treasure Truck. But I also feel good because I got one.

What a moral dilemma.
You're not the immoral one in this scenario. By all means enjoy without guilt. It's not your fault Amazon is shady and it's not your job to hold them accountable.

Anyone have any experience using the Hyperkin 6 ft extension cables with their SNES yet? I bought 2, but saw two bad recent reviews when using for the NES.

I mean people just want this for the collectible value right? It's a cool miniature snes that works.

Wanting to actually play the games has to be pretty low on the list as there are countless much easier ways to play SNES games.

What's easier then literal plug and play?

Was in line behind 10 people when Gamestop opened. Only one guy got turned away in front of me, and I had a preorder. They said they got about 25 in stock.

Waltzed over to Toys R Us thinking it would be a cinch, but after I finally found someone who worked there (it was a ghost town, I swear I was the only one in the store other than this elusive employee) they told me they were sold out.

Drove to Target and the electronics employee laughed as I approached and he told me "The answer is 'no'" before I even said anything. "SNES Classic?" "Had to be here right at 7:30am" So fuck that guy.

Went to Best Buy as a last ditch effort since it was across the street. They had 3 left in stock. This was 1130am mind you. I was amazed.

Hope you all had similarly fortunate experiences!

All about the games for me. What's easier than having a mini SNES with 21 games ready to play out of the box?

With the original controller via HDMI? People mod their SNES to output RGB and buy cables and adapters to play on their HDTV. This does it all for you, and it's in a neat little small package.

Ok, I live in Nashville which has a treasure truck, but when I look in the amazon app I don't even see any snes classics outside of the ones the scalpers are selling. What am I missing here?

There are zero easier ways with current TVs to play SNES games with original SNES controllers. I still have my OG SNES, but it's a nightmare to hook up to my entertainment center because the composite cables output a signal that the receiver fails to identify half the time, which requires a manual refresh. Emulators require finding files and putting them in the correct places, which, while not hard, is certainly not easier than plug and play (and you have to use knock-off controllers). My purchasing process for the SNES Classic took less than 10 minutes, required no standing in line, no driving around to multiple locations, nothing that I would describe as more difficult than purchasing anything else. So, no, I don't agree that there are easier ways.

I have had USB modded original controllers for over 10 years now.

Oh, of course, USB modding a controller is vastly easier than buying a set piece of hardware that requires no modifications. What was I thinking?

Was told by a Walmart CS rep that it would ship by the end of today. Is this bullshit? Seems like it to me.

Can only hope it's legit, but I won't believe it until I see it. I am fully expecting to be pooped on.

There is an equal if not greater hassle to acquire the original system in decent condition with matching controllers. Then you have to acquire all the games, which some might fall in the category that you have to make sure they aren't reproductions. If you are like me then you have to worry about your HD TV not supporting the output signal correctly, or tracking and having an old school CRT TV in your home.

If you want to go the RetroPie Route you will pay about the same amount of money or more if you want fancy controllers. Then there is the setting up, and tinkering to get things right that most people don't want to deal with.

As for other options that I'm less familiar with like the Virtual console or the 3DS Super Nintendo games, those are in a very small screen with emulators that I've heard a lot of people complain about.

So no, if you are a fan of the system and want the easiest way to have an official method of playing these games in the modern era, then I don't think anyone is going to find an easier entry point than the SNES Classic.

How many hours did you spend on GAF through to have the knowledge of when and where you need to be to preorder? Your average person has no chance.

And yes, purchasing modded controllers 10 years ago with no line waiting or preordering is easier.
