Nioh coming to Steam on November 7, Nioh Complete for PS4 same day

Not hopeful on the KT port job. But I'll keep an eye on it anyway.

And everyone who told me that it was PS4 exclusive forever and that I was wasting my time by doing a wait and see approach.... well, now you just look silly. Keep this game in mind before you go to bat for your favorite company, platform warriors.

Just know it won't support ultra wide.

Koei rep said since they switched to direct x 11 they wont support ultra wide for some time if at all.

All games prior direct x 11 never stretched did black bars. Warriors all stars stretches image.

"We are sorry to tell you that for our titles for Directx 11 do not have a specification to scale in widescreen resolutions, and we have no plans to fix it near future.
However, we will inform the relevant department about your feedback to take it into consideration while improving our products.

Gee thanks

That's literally a reply i got regarding all stars

Please don't tell me you enjoyed the game nine months ago but now retroactively changed your mind to hate it because of the PC release. Please.

It's annoying when you buy a game thinking it's an exclusive and then it comes to the PC where you could have gotten a better experience(even if it's a bad port on PC it will probably still run better than the PS4 Pro edition(which has a variable resolution ranging from 720p-1080p in the 60 FPS action mode).

At this point I don't buy any games with the "console exclusive" designation on consoles because it could come to PC at a later date.

"at this point" has been like a good 4-5 years.

I wonder if a PC version was always planned or did the PS4 version under-perform?...I'm shocked it's coming to PC and with all the DLC...hopefully it won't just be a straight port and will have some PC optimizations...but I'm expecting pretty much a Dark Souls 1 PC port with fan created mods like Durante's DSFix helping

Every KT game of recent memories has come to PC, you should be able to draw a conclusion.

Very happy more people will be able to pick up this game! Brilliant gameplay, the fluidity is amazing. Also a plus if you are interested in Japanese folklore and historical figures.

It was never a PS4 exclusive.
It was first on ps4, anyone salty about this isn't very smart.

Aw, shoot, I'm almost to the DLC in the PS4 version. Guess I'll cling to the non-existent hope of a save transfer.

It was announced as a "console exclusive," which implies a PC release. It was planned from the beginning if you know how to read through the lines.

Explaining that on GAF was a nightmare however.

why didn't they make that clear from the beginning?...expecting a PC release and hoping for one are 2 separate things...a good example is Monster Hunter: World which was announced from the get-go as coming to PC at a later date

I wonder how fast the SFM community will be on Nioh.

so there is much potential eh? :P I didn't watch so much videos from Nioh because i knew game would come to PC at least in one year after PS4 version.

Also anyone who played game can say story is intriguing or not? Concept amazing so i hope they used well.

SFM community is big on Team Ninja stuff and the most proficient SFM group has been clamming for
Okatsu
since PS4 release.

Not really. It's basically splurgy fan fiction of Japanese history around that time. Playing through it reminded me of all those "Superman vs Goku" threads that used to plague everywhere online back in the early aughts, but made into a video game lol >.>

It's entertaining and fun in a silly sort of way, but I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Because Sony paid the big bucks to keep it secret, but that's cool since it's Sony!

Since this is a Team Ninja release and not a sweat-shop Omega Force game, I hope that it is at least a moderate port in terms of performance.

I half way wouldn't be surprised if they have some PS3 assets from an unreleased version that they will throw into the PC just to troll.

I know about DOA, it's really big lol.

That's sound good enough for me. Thanks!

I only wish for good port and regional price. (KT always doing it but SE was doing too until Nier: Automata came. :/)

I guess for bow and arrow control?

Not sure I would ever give up analog movement in favor of WASD for games like this which are so positioning dependent though.
Analog movement is pointless, and anyways more precise on kbm due to digital input.

Positioning point is dumb considering once you lock on to an enemy you're transitioned to 8 directional orthogonal movement anyways, which is as PC as DOOM. Not to mention turning is way more precise due to using the mouse to do it, and you have perpetual control of the camera.

Man, straight up: if this game supported even the most basic of expected PC settings, I'd be pre-ordering.

But it doesn't, so now I have to wait to see if (a) their dynamic resolution nonsense allows for the game to work at a level of performance I expect on my 1080Ti. I'll also be looking to see if (b) the mod community figures out how to enable 21:9 through Borderless Fullscreen or Borderless Gaming. Or perhaps through some sort of .ini or executable edit.

Either way, it means I am a sure sale that has become a "wait and see". And "wait and see" often becomes never. Purely due to KT's disinterest in properly porting their game.

Umm... Okay.

Analog allows for multiple movement speeds. Controlling multiple speeds with KB is a hassle. Most of what KB does for movement in these games is translate controller controls in a different form but with more modifiers and less overall intuitiveness relative to the analog.

Your points barely constitute a rebuttal of what I posted, let alone why KB is better in these games.

No excuses, when The Surge controls amazingly with a keyboard and mouse.

Also, I have no choice.
This.

If it has shit binds that's on the devs for not giving enough of a shit to do decent ones (see: souls having no ui mouse support across 3 fucking games) not on the control method.

Speed control, you don't need that in this game.

Why are they using a DX11 renderer in the first place? Wouldn't it have made more sense to just work with OpenGL/Vulkan considering this never went to the Xbox platforms? Also not supporting ultrawide in 2017 is bullshit. It's incredibly popular among enthusiasts.

Also, I know we're talking about Koei Tecmo here.... But don't they realize the importance of platform neutral solutions when it comes to Linux and the trend of older titles getting ported to Android or whatever will replace it (AndromedaOS) in ten years?

Analog movement is pointless. I don't really feel the need to elaborate other than to tell you to play any game in the last 5 years and tell me one that does any thing useful for it. Even metal gear gave up on it and went back to digital movement now, featuring a crouch toggle, crouch walk toggle, and a sprint button.

Your point about analog being more intuitive is both daft and entirely subjective, making it not worth responding to.

Your point about mapping is the same. An input is an input, the device it's using will still spit that input out in the same 1s and 0s regardless of what it's using to do it.

Meanwhile, I use objective statements such as kbm being more precise, which is unarguable and demonstrably true. I argue that it gives you full time 100% camera control, also factually true. I argue a mouse is better for turning because it is immeasurably faster, more reliable, and operates on an infinitely finer gradient than an analog stick ever can. Again, also a factual statement.

Someone here is posting stuff that barely constitutes a rebuttal, but as I've shown it clearly isn't me.

Your asking me to list you one game in the past five years that benefits from an analog stick? Really?

Okay. Like, clearly I'm missing something here. Because I'm failing to see how using an analog stick to control various speeds of movement in a character action game is not beneficial in a variety of ways over the WASD setup, where controlling character speed generally requires extra keys as modifiers.

Your talking about mouse precision as if I said the opposite when I did no such thing. I talked about the analog stick in relation to character movement. Yes, the mouse is much more precise than dual stick aiming. I never suggested otherwise. But this isn't an FPS. And while KB/M definitely benefits bow and arrow mode, that doesn't mean the benefit carries over to all types of control you exert over the character.

As soon as they allow me to play at whatever resolution I want at 60fps I will buy it. I believe mods will address this and it probably wont even be hard for them.

I can only think of a single action game of that variety that uses analog in any fashion at all, and it's DMC4 using analog triggers for revving Nero's sword, not using a stick for analog movement. You could easily disable walking in the game and absolutely nothing would change in that game.

Because you turn using the mouse. It doesn't matter how much you think losing the stick will hurt finer movements when all you're doing is holding w and using the mouse for finer gradients of directional changes.
