Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

Wait, this isn't a free update?!

Hahahahahahahahah

Did you read the OP at all?

I think I might hop in at this price. I've been holding out on a Soul Caliber announcement to choose a fighter for this gen but it looks like Street Fighter V has improved enough since it's initial launch to get on the bandwagon.

Anyone know if all of this content is on the disc, or do we think it's literally going to be the Street Fighter V disc with everything downloaded as a patch?

Finally saw the trailer and yeah that was very Tekken 1 opening-ish. I see what dudes are saying now.

Secondly, they need to find a way for others who don't have some of the extra characters to upgrade. I've got all the S1 characters but only Akuma, a few stages. I wish there was a way to get everything else even if I have to pay a little less than the 40 bucks here for it. Maybe some costumes. I'll probably use the 40 and buy the rest of the characters and then use everything else on stages or some costumes.

After playing MvC:I since launch I am gravitating back to SF:V, I have given Mahvel games so many tries but I am going to have to admit that at least for me and my style of play SF:V is the better game.

Forget Xrd or Tekken 7, it's going to be up there along the mainline SF games. In term of content, it will blow just about every SF game out of the water outside of Alpha 3. With season 3, it will reach 34 characters which is getting near USFIV. If you look at the number of stages, it will blow every other SF game out there.

Past the arcade update, they will only have to focus on balancing and the core gameplay. :)

People will still complain.

I'm really happy Capcom have taken this route, I hope it gets more people playing SFV, I hope it makes the game better, and I feel kind of stupid for buying a digital copy of SFV for my PS4 now only a month ago when this is clearly superior value.

the fact that they're so blatantly pushing arcade mode makes me laugh. like they were fucking scarred for life when the SFV launch was pretty much ruined by people crying about no arcade mode

now they're like YOU WANT ARCADE MODE YOU MOTHER FUCKERS? HERE TAKE IT TAKE ALL THE ARCADE MODE IN THE WORLD

Never.

No, you're not getting characters for free. Unless you buy the AE.

Wait, I'm confused. Didn't it say that if you already own the game, you get to upgrade to Arcade Edition free? I own the physical disc but didn't get any of the seasons.

To be clear, there's nothing in the AE update that you have to pay money for if you own the base game.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is identical to the current Street Fighter V: Deluxe Edition. If you buy the Deluxe now or the AE in January, once the update drops the content will be identical.

Just like they aren't giving away the game for free, they aren't giving away 12 DLC characters for free (unless you unlock them with FM). It's basically a compilation that is coinciding with the big, free update.

The AE Update is the balance stuff, extra V-Triggers, arcade, gallery, extra battle, extra battle costumes.

Purchasing SFV: Arcade Edition gets you all that as well as Season 1 + 2. It's basically SFV Deluxe for 50% off.

You are getting all the new content, they aren't going to give you the DLC for free...

You'll get all the gameplay elements of AE for free, and the dlc characters will come with the $40 retail version of AE.

Upgrade being the new UI, selectable v trigger, etc

Why do people think capcom will give them 2 seasons worth of characters for free with an update? There's a reason SF:AE is prives 40 bucks...

Stages and characters aren't part of the free update, so it's not exactly the same as the packaged AE.
But the "Arcade Edition" package is just a Game of the Year edition anyways - Base Game + Arcade Edition features (free) + S1 characters + S2 characters. It's mainly for people who don't have the game yet, heck it wouldn't surprise me if S1 and S2 characters were just codes for their respective season passes.

Someone who has the base game already can just buy S1 and S2 season passes and they'll be in the same position, they still get the Arcade Edition features for free once the update is up. Of course this won't be the most cost effective way to do it though once the AE package is released.

It's not like SFVAE is a separate game - it's just the game plus season passes packed in one go, probably updated with the new features.

MHW comes out in January tho.

That's the multiplatform Capcom game I'll be buying in January since the retail SFV Arcade edition is useless to base SFV owners such as myself...
Games on all the platforms from third parties so everyone can enjoy them...what a concept.

Yeah, I have both season passes so come January my game will be identical to the AE retail package.

Don't fucking jinx it.

Yup, the arcade edition is more or less buying the SFV 2017 deluxe edition since you get both character season pass + the free update. I already have the base game with just about every DLC character so I already have the arcade edition in a way. :p MY FM will go toward stages and the season 3 characters. ;)

I meant like all the 4 dollar ones.

I don't know the answer to this.

I know there's no way in hell they'd add the premium costumes for free since they release new ones every month.

The battle costumes at launch might be included. Those have already been discounted.

If I were Capcom and I was going to include those, I'd sit on that info until December so I can keep selling them.

I didn't say that. People were making it sound like nothing was free if you didn't have any DLC to begin with.

That said, I'm thinking about picking up the AE disc anyway just to have a physical copy of everything.

Capcom really has a messaging problem with all this shit that was entirely of their own making

You should've been able to buy everything with Fight Money, but just buy Fight Money in the PSN store if that's your prerogative.
