Gran Turismo Sport demo coming Oct. 9

I gotta admit, this demo is a lot more fun than I expected. Driving feels great with a Dual Shock, game looks good playing on PS4 Pro w/4K mode supersampled to my 1080p monitor.

Pretty surprised.

Might see what kind of reward point buildup I have at a few retailers. If I can get this down to $40 on launch day, then I think I'm gonna jump in. Might be very skimpy on its single player structuring, but for a lower price, I could see this being a really great jump-in game for casual play.

Ok i like the game but the gfx are not impressive on the standard ps4 tbh. i get jaggies on certain cars. photo mode is unreal but then again its a gimmick.
campaign mode is a joke.
Only mode i think i would really play is arcade mode. and i think this game lacks content compared to older gt game.

I mainly played b-spec in older gt games and to be honest i think i rather go back to gt4 on my ps2 and play that instead of this game.

For all that is worth it forza 7 looks better imo.
but that game has loot boxes so i won't be getting that either.

Jesus Christ at these menus. Text is ridiculously small, load times are long, and you navigate it with a mouse cursor. Kaz, what are you doing?

Really not feeling this...probably gonna get flamed for this

The replay cameras are very nice and the presentation of menus ect feels really premium but once you get in and actually drive the cars the handling is atrocious...the cars still dont have a weighty feel to them and once you turn on the assists off it highlights how bad it is even more .....the car feels like its rotating on a stick and the track is being moved around it this is exactly like the other GTs...the handling model has not evolved

combine that with the really bad environment details...grass...trees (skybox looks great and the moving crowds im pretty disappointed coming from 2 other racers which have added in considerable upgrades to their series

The game has not really progressed that much apart from the res bump and in fact its gone backward in some areas

Would not be as critical to this if it were a bit cheaper but in Aus they are charging full game price for this ....dont think its worth it

Only played a bit. But I love it so far. As a very casual player, I like it that every few races I play, I constantly earning things and getting stuff. From credits, milage, xp, trophies, car gifts etc.

It makes you want to keep playing. Even if its just qualifying time trial etc.

Okay, so, congrats, PD!

One year ago I thought a thread about a GTS demo would turn into a major shitfest right away, but despite the game's obvious flaws (content-wise) the first reactions are indeed positive almost across the board.

I for one might give GTS a chance after all.

Is rotating the camera around the car with the right analogue stick back in? Really missed that when they took it out of the beta (due to a bug?).

My exact situation. To make things worse, PC2 it's terrible at the moment on consoles, so no buy either. I makes me so mad/sad as I really, really wanted a racing game.

I will try the demo (already downloaded) when I arrive home, but knowing the full game will need PS+ and the always connected feature even for progression makes it a bitter experience.

Thanks for quick reply. Pity. Hope it's back for the final game, increases immersion/involvement with the car, and is pretty much a standard feature on driving games now.

Sorry if this has already been asked.
Was wondering if any of the Driving School tests that I complete will also been marked as complete in the full game?

I dont know, I'm not liking the Car AI's, first arcade race and I'm spun out by another car, like it isnt even registering that I'm there at all. They just feel like dead bricks in the road that follow there own path no matter what.

Whatever there using for AA is terrible. The outside car has a weird feel to it. Sorry I like to use it sometimes but in this game I dont think its viable. Lots of the usual GT jankyness.

Otherwise I'm sure its great.

on ps4 original ingame.
i see jaggies all over not impressed tbh.

At reduced res, the second one looks great to me, love the overall colour palette.. I am resisting the urge to fire up the demo on my Pro as I want to wait for the final game and not spoil anything, although I'm sure this thread may test my resolve!

[edit]

Wow.. that is nice indeed.. hope to see more, getting that level consistently across all tracks/environments has escaped other games, so here's hoping PD's attention to detail elevates them!

You only need PS+ for driver rating progression which is used online.

Arcade mode single race AI seems to be different to the custom race AI. In single race they are set up as challenges whereby you need to get to the front of the grid before the race finishes to achieve the goal. They are set up as obstacles in those races.

Whereas in the custom race I set up they actually gave me a good battle and were aware of my existence, which was nice.

I am pleasantly surprised at the car engine sounds, the very first car I took for a spin was that BMW M series, it sounded superb. I still think Driveclub outshines in the sound department, or maybe it's still too early to give a final judgement on sounds, but it's certainly promising! And the race visuals in certain time of day conditions are just sublime, you guys are lighting wizards PD!
