Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

Most of Jiren's moves that weren't rapid punchs or generic beams were grapples and throws. Given his body type as well I could envision a version of Jiren that makes it into this game that is heavy on the grappling.

That's not how it works lol

Tell me more oh game developer!

Anyway to be serious, my point was that the time scale fans run on isn't the same one developers do. An episode that airs this weekend was written and animated weeks/months ago and conceptualized even earlier than that. That means its possible that the dev team would have access to that info (remember the game isn't realizing until February the earliest and they haven't finished all the characters given the Game Informer info dump) and be able to utilize it. It's not a guarantee that they can or will, just that timing matches up in a way that doesn't make it impossible.

It makes sense to reveal them now.

It also makes sense to reveal the Super characters (Beerus, Hit and Black) last.

I'm definitely expecting Black and/or Beerus to be last. I could see them showing off Hit a bit earlier just to confirm that Super characters other than Goku/Vegeta are in (blah, blah, blah, Frieza install).

Idk not even Xenoverse stays completely current with the show.

And traditional fighting games take a lot more planning. The roster and what they can do has probably been decided on for a while now, in advance of even its reveal. They aren't making any changes based on last week or last month's episode of Super.

Súper buu is the strongest majin

True. but kid buu is the best.
look at him !

love this crazy dude

I've heard in the manga Goku and Vegeta don't even come close to being able to stand with Beerus, yet the anime makes a it look like they're just a few notches below him, and that makes it even weirder how they're not dominating the tournament when they're shown to be close to god levels.

They're nowhere close to Beerus.

In a sparring match, Vegeta uses Perfect SSJBlue against Beerus. The most he gets out of it is landing a punch in his face, after which Beerus immediately one-shots him.

The SSJG Goku vs Beerus fight was also hilariously one-sided. Goku literally never even landed a punch in the manga.

And this is why I want to read the manga now, because going off the anime, it makes us think both Goku and Vegeta aren't too far off.

There's also Android 21, seeing as we don't know if she's playable or not.

The balance of power makes alooooooooooot more sense in the manga.

Trunks never gets that ridiculous power surge that he does in the anime, and instead gets a completely different (more sensible) ability during his time as apprentice to Supreme Kai before the Black saga.

Vegeta and Goku have actually both aged a minimum of 3 years during the events of Super, due to them using the Time Chamber to train for Champa's tournament. Vegeta actually went in for an extra few months in order to develop a technique to use against Black.

Champa, Beerus, and all the other Destruction Gods all seem waaaaaaay more dangerous than in the Manga. (That Clown guy in particular seems pretty terrifying.) There's a flashback battle between Champa and Beerus that more closely resembled the manga battle between SSG Goku and Beerus.

As for how powerful/skilled Beerus actually is? The recent manga just had him get jumped by all of the gods of destruction, and he actually managed to fight them off.

Nappa def deserves a spot. He fights uniquely and is visually distinct, big bodied. Some nice variety that wouldn't hurt the roster.

Nappa definitely needs to get in, he's an interesting enough body type. I'd also like to see Recoome.

Well, of course, I'd want Nappa. Main thing is just between time travel shenanigans and/or cybernetic duplicates being a focal point of the storyline, which one they'd choose for the reason why he could be present.

Ah yes because if Dragon Ball was lacking in something it was dudes in orange gi's.

Seriously on its own it's not a terrible look, but it's a shame that after so many years getting multiple unique outfits the one adult Gohan seems perpetually stuck with is his worst dad's look.

I hope he gets the Demon Gi back again, I think he has in the manga unless I'm wrong.

I think the timeline will go like this

- Ultimate Gohan, Gotenks and Kid Buu will be shown next to round up the Buu Saga
- Popular villains like Nappa, Ginyu, Broly are shown next and then Roshi will be shown because idk when else they'd show him
- Beerus, Hit and Black finish off the reveals with the "Super's titans are here!" tagline

That's 10 left. We'll be good.

Still not sure about Broly on Day 1, but your list would put us at a respectable 25 characters. I hope that’s the case, but I fear that we may end up at around 21-22 characters on Day 1.

Your idea for the rollout of reveals is kinda what I expect, though I was thinking Buu Saga -> DBS characters (at Jump Fiesta) -> Android 21 (if she’s playable).

I know I am very much alone on this but I am still holding a candle for Ginyu and Zarbon.

I don't know where you are getting that from... I think a lot of people are very excited by the idea of Ginyu with Ginyu Force assists. He is probably one of the more popular suggestions. Zarbon has also been given a surprising amount of love.

I haven’t seen as much Zarbon love as you, but I doubt doubt what you’ve seen. That said, I can vouch for the excitement for Ginyu’s potential moveset if he gets in.

I'm super curious to see if we do end up getting any non-canon movie characters in at launch. Broly is obvious but there are others that could be pretty cool if they felt like tackling them.

The Super manga is not bad, the artist can draw the characters well and its easy to read ... but his choreography is extremely basic and lacks a ton of the sense of impact Toriyamas art has. Unambitious is the word I would use to describe it.

Sounds good, I just need my Gogeta or SSJ Blue Vegito and I am happy :)

Considering V-jump already gets all the important exclusive stuff, GI is really trying their best with the scraps they get.

I mean they did get a new build with 4 characters, 2 new stage, a new combat mechanic which they will probably get into in the future. Maybe not amazing but not bad. They also may save the best for last though it's definitely stretched out.

I guess I should contextualize that... for a fairly minor character, Zarbon has had a fair number of people mention that they want to see him.

Where does Dabura fit into this? You know, the red devil who wears a blue jumpsuit and a cape, uses a sword and spits on people to turn them to stone? Otherwise known as the ideal fighting game character? I couldn't help but notice that you neglected to say when he'll be revealed.

Any day now, I'm sure...

This has me excited. Maybe I'll start right after resurrection F with the manga and go from there.

Beerus' exhibited power in the manga is likely not canon to the anime continuity;
Goku's showcase of Ultra Instinct indeed made a few of the GoDs worried, but the top 4 seemed pretty unimpressed. In Toyotaro's GoD exhibition match, Beerus clearly managed to outspeed them through Ultra Instinct.

Has the Manga ever showed or addressed what Whis said in the Anime around episode 90~93

That there is a Mortal in another Universe that's stronger that the God of Destruction of said Universe who also happens to be Stronger than Beerus
