Neogaf, as a gaming community, has always been an awesome news source. Well moderated, interesting, and had the fastest breaking news.

Neogaf, off-topic, was just becoming a cess-pool. If you had a dissenting opinion, no matter how carefully crafted, you'd just get piled up upon, and potentially banned for "stirring something up" if the mod in question didn't care to debate your opinion.

Maybe it's internet culture in general. That whole vibe of every breaking story about anyone is that it's "the worst thing ever!" It's like people can't wait to be offended these days because they feel it gives them power.

EvilLore isn't just some corporate title. He is a human being. He's therefore not without faults. A past mistake being spread like wildfire everywhere must be a very stressful situation for him to bare. And by the way, I'm sure he appreciates the loyalty! And for not jumping to conclusions, and seeing how the situation plays out!

I still read the situation and find the controversy - if pure fact - to be almost nothing. The dude and the girl were both shitfaced drunk, and friendly enough that they shared a hotel room together. She claimed she drank too much and was feeling sick, and went into the shower. She left the door open. He was also too drunk and mis-read that open door as a signal, but was wrong. He tried for some action and was denied. He didn't pursue, he accepted the rejection.

They remained friends and continued to hang out. They even had consentual sex not long after the fact. To me, that's the nail in the coffin. She obviously didn't find it all that weird if she continued the friendship, and into a sexual role. There's nothing more here than an awkward misunderstanding between friends. And you're all banning yourselves for not even contemplating the situation, but just hearing "sexual assault" and having knee jerk reactions.

Those uninformed knee-jerk reactions have been too common-place here for too long and needed to stop. I'm sorry to see some good people have left. But I also think that this purge is weeding out some of the dramatic people who didn't help the forum.

That's fine, but I can't agree overall that this last week has been good for Neogaf. It just hasn't surely. You're grasping at straws I think, there are still lots of horrible posts I've seen over the last 24 hours, and not from current or future members of a certain other site.

Well put. Thanks for saying what needed to be said. Not defending Tyler. But not going to shit on the community and protest leave over him either.

First you complain about people asking for a ban, next, you will be demanding them.

Free speech in action.

I know it made me come back. No way I would have returned to the site as it was.

I fully support the OP.

Well you're one compared to 7000 and counting the other way.

I hope you're a nice person but for what the OP is trying to paint otherwise there are many, many nice people who aren't coming back.

The what 100 if we're being generous 'suicide threads' are a drop in the ocean in context.

Bruh, after all his years of banning anyone who mentions the multiple allegations and his own bragging about sexual assault, him calling that woman crazy, mentally deranged, inventing a weird story about how he won in a love triangle (She's bi) and just killing OT...
And you still wonder why people want nothing with Tyler?
Had he not been a petty child taking a fit, and apologized and explained how he misread her signals, nothing would have happened. Instead he put the final nail in the coffin of his reputation as a petulant, unstable child who blames anyone but himself and in the patience of many who walked on a landfield for years because Evilore was the special snowflake of the forum.

If you want to be loyal, good for you. I think it's an overrated trait.

It's sad that you are happy that people of different opinions and viewpoints are gone. It's also kind of upsetting that so many people have bought into the "OT was a toxic cesspool" narrative that was used as a deflection tactic for the real reason the site was flung into choas

Of course nobody really knows what happened, but I can agree with most of what you said. There's no proof anything happened other than he said she said. And the whole going into a relationship with him after the fact raises a major red flag.

Both sides, right?

Guess I need to post this again since there are some people who seem to have already forgotten after 2 page. Wow, how the mind slips!

"Allegedly"

Opening admitting to sexually assaulting someone(then banning anyone who called him out for it)

Posting revenge porn with their real full names then another admin(a now jailed pedophile) printed the photos and jacked off over them and sent it to the boyfriend.

You're right, how can we even know if he's guilty or not? HMMMM

Calling people "cry-babies" - even if some of them have behaved questionably while leaving - doesn't help the community, and it won't make NeoGAF a better place. Let those who don't want to stay any longer go without anger (but snicker if they throw a tantrum and make silly I'm-leaving-bitches grandstanding posts). That's my take on it.

This looks like one of those off topic threads not fit for gamin side breh.

Agreed.

So were you also in the shower at the time OP, or are you just also jumping to conclusions? Except you know, instead of doing so for your own convictions against someone who, at best, is a skeevy, tone-deaf asshole, you're doing it for "loyalty" to a website. Neato. Yeah man, GAF sure rules now!

This whole loyalty angle people keep bringing up is weird to me. It’s a video game site. Not the mafia. If you want to stay that’s cool. Do you.

It's sad that you are happy that people of different opinions and viewpoints are gone. It's also kind of upsetting that so many people have bought into the "OT was a toxic cesspool" narrative that was used as a deflection tactic for the real reason the site was flung into choas

I think they are just trying to reassure themselves or something, the site will return to normal when they can let things slide.

The need to whine about goodbye threads etc.

At the same time, a lot of members of this forum is claiming the new forum is gonna be a echo chamber cause everyone agrees with each other.

There is a name for people who have conviction without any evidence. Same for people who get militant about enforcing thier version of ethics on others.

So people who have standards and don't agree with what Evilore stands for right now automatically are people who enforce their views on others, am I reading this right?

I always get a kick out of people complaining about the stringent moderation on OT making it a "cesspool" because you caught a ban real quick over "dissenting opinions" who have seemingly no problem with the fact hat people that brought up the nasty shit evilore did over the years were swiftly banned and often times purged from the forum entirely.

Why is this in gaming? I seriously hope people don't get away with site policy infractions as long as they add 'I am loyal to evilore'..
If all threads related to this discussion is banned then so should this thread, especially as this is in gaming section where it has no purpose.

I don't know why so many people think that their presence on a gaming forum is so important that they need to make a thread just to announce that they will no longer be posting.

They had consentual sex afterwords. She was in an "open relationship" at the time. Call me crazy for putting some dots together and assuming maybe, just maybe, they were flirty at the time and he misread a signal.

By the way, were YOU in the shower at the time? LOL. Why'd they fuck after the fact?

Yet people moaning about the echo chamber are over there enjoying themselves. I hope neogaf turn things around, it will help if the owner sorts himself out a bit.

Redundant thread. I think "State of NeoGaf" and the thread about the Waypoint story covered all of this.

You won't need to worry about Gaf. All the curators of the best original content have already abandoned ship.

So now you'll be left with the copy cats. They'll see a topic pop up on the other forum, and make one here. Eventually, that game will become tiresome. Spite is a derivative of hate, and that only leads to self-destruction.

Scrolling down the first page of this place and then the other...well, it's clear which place is thriving and which is writhing.

Good thing there's anonymous mods now, that'll totally allow for transparency and rational discourse!

It's cool if you think loyalty to an internet personality means something, but it's pretty evident that Tyler doesn't give a fuck about the community other than the ad revenue that's brought in

Don't do this.

Simply because there's no off-topic. I read that there will be an OT soon. And obviously this situation has been breaking the forum regardless.

And also leaving a forum because of one dude is weird to me. I'm sorry, it just is. Pretty sure everyone likes things created by shitty people.

And don't get the asking for a ban threads. Just log out and leave. Not that hard. Just seems like "look at me!!".

Just go.

His post is dumb but OT(and parts of the gaming side) was kind of terrible a lot of the time. Alt-right shit shouldn't be tolerated at all but the way people jumped on others and assumed ridiculous shit about them was crazy. A lot of holier-than-thou shit.

Keep losing, Joe.

Yeah I'm just scratching my head trying to understand how the loss of the 100 suiciders is worth the main active community loss. Both in gaming and off-topic.

It's kinda ironic that some people were lamenting the deluge of Switch threads over the last several months and now we're practically left with like single digit users posting in the freakin' 97 MC confirmed review thread for Super Mario Odyssey.

There's at least one user with a Wonder Red avatar who got their wish from their fairy godmother I guess lol.

Thanks for creating a new off topic thread to share your special snowflake opinion when there are already a couple threads about this topic.

It's sad that you are happy that people of different opinions and viewpoints are gone.
Those people didn't tolerate different opinions, that's the whole point, no matter how little they differed from theirs.

If those people are gone, maybe this site will be worth discussing in again.

Well you're one compared to 7000 and counting the other way.
Why would I care? I left this forum, so it was like it didn't exist to me. If those 7000 people leaving makes this place worthwhile again, I'm happy about it. It's not my problem.

Mistakes. Plural.

People left because they had enough of a pattern of behaviour by the person who owns the website. This latest accusation (and, importantly, his response) was the last straw for a very large number of members.

Because he went all Rupert Murdoch on the forum trying to suppress stories and blaming people for following policies like all new news needing a thread etc.

It's silly and I hope he now realises it.
