Why does there seem to be fewer new threads on the off topic discussion section? There used to be interesting stuff every day like quirky news articles and whatnot but now it just seems like there's less. Have y'all noticed this or am I going crazy?

Drama has happened in October and some users have left the forum.
 
I've always enjoyed the more safe lighter hearted threads like food threads or funny threads that don't get too serious. More of the kind of threads where everyone can relate and not be afraid of getting pulled into an argument - I think they bring people together.

Especially on a Friday, when I am a bit slow at work (for once) and in a casual mood.

yeah i kinda heard something about that but i wasn't really on neogaf much at that point as school was really crazy. is there like a full explanation somewhere about what exactly happened?

Can I ask what the difference between junior, neo, and neophyte levels are? I do not seem to see where it is explicitly said. All I know is when I was a new member, I could not post at all of change Avatar's or anything. But, I did see other members who were neo members who could post.

So, I am totally lost on the differences.

A weightless allegation was made then withdrawn. The internet took it upon themselves to deal justice despite there being no evidence against the accused.

Alright, NeoGAF. This is only my second post on the entire forum, but...
Quite frankly, I need your help.
One of my good friends who lives in South Carolina is being forced into a relationship/marriage by her mom.
Is this even legal, and what can anyone do about it? Her mom treats her like a pawn and an object, and just wants to buy into a richer family. She doesn't care about her daughter at all. My friend has almost no freedom whatsoever, and it's rather painful to hear. She's only 16, but there must be something someone somewhere can do. Please guys, do any of you have any advice?

I study the possibility of taking a Teaching course at Boston. I live in Brazil, and According to their site, they emit Student Visa.

In these cases, is it common for the institute to provide accommodation? I would stay in Boston for one month. Waiting the end of the year to send my application, cover letter and (hopefully) pay it.

Possible conspiracy:

Lotta research needed, I unfortunately can't go back but since it's still rolling there are opportunities.

The current US president has not reliquished full control of his assets as they should when president as opportunities to manipulate stock markets are very real amongst other possibilities.

This is hopefully when the fun starts, since taking over, have any tweets caused significant fluctuations where short-selling or buying long have occurred successfully enough and those parties are linked to the White House.
 
I just realized that whenever I eat spicy food, I have burning sensations on my anus the next time I poop and I wanted to start a thread in Off-Topic to discuss other people's experiences. Can someone start a thread about that please ?

BTW. When does a new member become able to start new threads ? I looked in the FAQ but was unable to find my answer.

Hello NeoGAF Community,

The Steam Support has deleted or renamed my account's login. I'm not sure when it was exactly happened. I had some problems with my PC around one month.

The account can not be search by the login or by the email. I've got an error that the account IS NOT EXISTS!

This topic is not personal support thread. I just share my negative experience.

If before it was just the deactivation for only 3 days (which also is not good from the Steam Support's side), but for now I get an error that the account's login is not exists in the database.

Here is the big conversation with their manager in the "brainwashes" style. The last conversation I had with them. (Alternative link - is.gd/Tr4nuw )

No sensitive data here and it can be disclosed to public.

Keep in mind that they are professional managers, but I'm just a normal user that need a help. :)

Steam support told me that my account was permanently and irreversibly deactivated and "The account won't be re-activated no matter who at Valve or Steam Support you talk to. You will not hear back from our team or a Valve employee regarding this account ever again."

So, basically all my 1000 subscriptions (games and programs) are gone. It wasn't indie games, I had triple-A titles like NieR: Automata and so on. And professional software like Sony Vegas Pro.

I'm curious how many people would side with you if a thread was created. You were banned for a reason that was reviewed and upheld by steam (as well as developers apparently), then you proceeded to press the issue, requesting the very privileges that are the point of the ban be restored, until finally they had to be frank with you. I feel like maybe they could have gone a step further and said "We do not want you as a member of this community anymore!" but now that may have been a little too much, true as it is from those responses they provided.

Guys. I agree that is something unclear here. But the ban of my account was totally unjustified.

I got Permanent Community Ban for using the official "self-locking tool" from Valve https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6416-FHVM-3982 (while I was temporarily Community Banned). This tool has removed my temporarily ban from my account. Steam Community Developer have noticed it and then banned my account permanently.

I got temporarily (six-months) Community Ban for vulnerability that I've found (And using, that was my mistake). I banned very small amount of my friends with their consents. All of them were in my friend list in the past and were Russians. It was forum related issue. Any Steam Moderator was able to ban any Steam User even if the user did not posted anything on the Discussions.

I have launch this tool three times. First one on 12 January of 2017. My friend wrote to me that he was unable to unlock his own Steam Account that was locked by him even with correct code wich was provided by that tool. It was a problem of the Steam Web designers, because code must be typed only with CAPS LOCK or SHIFT button. By default "self-locking" tool had crappy design with CSS attribution (text-transform: UPPERCASE). All my friends (including me) were unable to unlock Steam account because of this bug. And I wrote email to the russian Valve Employee (infortunatelly he is no longer with Valve). Any member of Steam Support can check that all my words are truth.

I had an ability to transfer any item (or giftable copy of the game) when temporarly Community ban was reversed by "self-locked" tool. But I did nothing with all these stuff. I bought 100+ new games while I was temporarly banned also. (Community ban do not disallowed "purchasing feature").

I thought that all Valve Employees (Steam admins) are adequate and polite. Well, it kills me to say it, but I was wrong.

i dont side with him, im just saying what happened to him, now that it has happened, could happen to others and i think he is the first domino to fall, which means the downside to digital distribution, with the drm and all is bad, like social media

heh have you gotten a job interview from valve yet on discovering the exploit? yes i know, im talking about alex gembe, but you fucked around with something that you didn't understand, therefore there is no reason to post about this for the world to see, valve already knows they're bad, but they are making billions off of people like you, who will create a new account and buy up games again...
