Just know that their idea of pushing trans acceptance is actually contradictory and only ensures people are even less interested in making trans people equal to others. Because they don't want to be equal (despite saying so in words), they want to be special (as is evidenced by the very behavior on that site).

I do find it funny that a permban request is rather easily upheld but standard bans have to be subject to a review. And then complain that they do so much work.

That's another way of fabricating backlogs, i reckon.

They are just an angry bunch looking for things to ban people for. A lot of them get thrills from seeing people banned, so they have to find absurd shit to get angry about to keep the bans flowing.
 
Ok, I rarely tend to shit on other forums, and I find a lot of opinions expressed on this forum a bit... well, scary to be honest, because it still seems to be more about tribalism and partisanship than a real look at issues, but fuck me if THIS isn't one of the scariest threads I ever read, and there's NO mod intervention whatsoever, no big fucking red text in the OP, it just goes on about how democracy is shit, only people who are within certain borders of political opinion and income brackets should vote and A FUCKTON of people wish they would live in a dictatorship, read fascist state if the rulers would chose their opinions:

A long time ago I got "branded" on old-GAF for saying that I would be willing to give any elected candidate ultimate authoritarian dictatorial power short of eliminating or influencing the election process itself. The rationale being that a fairly elected candidate should be able to actually implement the platform they campaigned on.

I got a tag for it, and I couldn't make a post in any thread anywhere about anything because people would see the tag and say "oh it's this guy". At one point a mod even changed my account name to something about how I was a stupid fascist. The incredible irony is that every single person who made fun of me agrees with me, except for the key difference that they would only want it for candidates they agree with. As evidenced by... well, that thread, or pretty much any other thread on that forum.

Isn't that the entire point of reelection though? If the public is satisfied with the current sitting authority you have the option to continue their time in office and allow them to carry out their platform. Even if the leader changes the parter can remain in power if so chosen by the people.

Do you mean currently, or under my hypothetical revolving dictatorship? If currently, nobody ever actually implements *anything* because you just have the two parties locked in a perpetual mutual cockblock.

If you mean in this hypothetical world, then yea it makes perfect logical sense. If the public likes the results, they just reelect the person. Tbe interesting property of this system is that you would get immediate feedback on the effects of a particular policy. No more arguing about stuff like "unemployment dropped 4% during Trump first year." "That was because obamas policies are finally starting to take effect". You could finally make irrefutable claims about what works and what doesn't.

Obviously there's a whole bunch of practical problems with such a system such as how to actually structure the government such that the president would have so much unchecked authority but zero when it comes to modifying the election process itself, but since it's just a thought exercise i was never too worried about the practicality

My wife had no idea, she had to Google it... And she still doesn't agree.

Anyway I told them I don't agree with their terms of service and won't change my ways, in australia this is not an issue.

They have been poking and prodding the site now for some time trying to get another foot hold. We have little helpers trying to troll in threads every day, I am pretty sure we all know who they are at this point. The new management though doesn't seem to acknowledge their bullshit though, which is a good thing.

I thought they were happy with the split and told they would never come back here, not now when all those white nazis are havin their discussions and aren't banned for having somewhat different opinions. Do they also have stockholm syndrome on top off all their disorders?

I think you have a few activist bullies and their alts who stir up half the crap as it is. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some of the little helpers are the same person. Seeing people with opposition politics gaining ground here gets under their skin and they just have to come back to lower the quality of discourse.

I have been a fan of Anime for a long long time so I get what they are trying to do here. They confused the word Yaoi with another word that is essentially the boy version of lolicon and then tried to paint those Era users as being pedophiles. When in reality they are likely just gay or female.

Thats my mistake. I thought that you were making the same mistake he was. You said Yaoi and Loli together so thats where I got that from.

It was inevitable they would run off to era get banned and run back here when they realized how batshit crazy it was over there. I'd like a "I suicided my account and now I'm back" thread. Then again I appreciate brutal honesty and that offends most people so whatever.

Not everyone suicided, only reason I moved on was this place became a ghost town... I'm not interested in the politics.

I can see why people come back, reset is good as a news source but scroll past the OP and it ain't pretty.

I didn't request a perma ban here, but I did over there.

The first guy is throwing a tantrum because he got a warning for a childish tweet after he had just got back from being banned.

The Tessa Thompson one is very deserved. The guy is trying to say her acting is a bigger deal than the racism.


The last one is trying to rationalize the racism that the woman is projecting. There is no rationalizing racism. There is no defense for it.


Perms are okay with me in all those cases except maybe the Tessa Thompson one. A week or two band and a detailed explanation of why it's wrong would okay with me.
