ye I left right around the ion fury stuff, I was already contemplating it before that. due to every cancel culture thread for months before and this previous week yikes.
You know, I'm just a rambling shitposter, but I think a videogame forum should absolutely NEVER be about boycotting games. It seems logical right? If you like games, you just like playing them and talking good stuff about them. That's a simple hobby, simple social interactions around that thing. I like Catherine. I don't want to have to think too hard if Catherine is not good because it might offend someone that looks like the The Cure singer. I like The Cure as well, I want to talk about it without having to google if he ever, absolutely EVER did anything against any woman. When you break it down, discussion boards about certain interest should be about that. The interest. I like Quake. I like Dragon Quest. I like Metal Gear Solid. 2/3 out of those at the VERY LEAST are problematic. There's a 66% chance I'm getting blindsided into a stupid discussion out of nowhere. Shit's fucked.

I love how the ban periods are wildly inconsistent. 3 days, 5 days, 3 weeks, permanent; all for the most trivial reasons and often unjustified entirely. You can tell the mods and admins are full of shit and are making it up as they go along. TOS on REEEEsetera are an absolute farce.

the mods seem like super users. they aren't just guys that sit around and moderate from a distance, making sure organic conversation can happen. that would actually help. since mods are just super powered users, they make threads, they argue with people, and they start hating certain posters. they want to shape the discussion, not just moderate it. so they can just ban people they disagree with, which is a fucking awful way to run a board, but it's what they do. it's pretty blatant and obvious, when you see the same toxic posters attacking others over and over, but they hold these SJW views, so they are liked by the mods, they are "on their side", they are untouchable.

It really is fucked. That's what I find the most egregious. It's one thing when a bunch of ideologues kick and scream and are incapable of having rational dialogue. It's much more severe and to the detriment of the entire community when people with that much responsibility continuously violate that trust to reinforce their own biases and lord it over others that simply disagree with them.
All while spouting delusions of everyone but them being fascists, bigots, and close minded. The lack of self awareness is fucking baffling. Which makes me think some of them absolutely realize what they're doing, but just have no integrity.
Either way that place is a lost cause, I just hope more developers and industry personalities won't feel obligated or pressured to reach out to them simply because of the traffic the board generates. That's why the mobs there are always trying to see who they can make bend the knee.
