I don't get it...

So I'm browsing Twitter (i know big mistake) and i see this GRAMMYs hashtag, so out of curiosity i went in to check it out and it's filled with these girls (mostly teens) creaming themselves over these Korean "boy" band called BTS, who look like this:

I was confused, yes i know Asian teens in SK and Japan go gaga for these androgynous looking guys but everywhere else?
What happened to traditional male handsomeness and masculinity?
What happened to these men being the example of "women want them, men want to BE them"?

Neither of the men you mentioned at the bottom are pop-stars.

I won't deny that androgynous image is a factor here, but is that new? Boyishness/androgynousness has been in pop music since at least The Jackson 5. Blame the King of Pop, or blame the Artist Formerly Known as Prince, or blame David Bowie.

Well you need to have actual balls and behave like an alpha if you wanna look like a real man. The clothes and dressing style are only half the job.
And most newer generations are in reality a bunch of soyboy betas. That's why they don't look up to men like Clint Eastwood. Cuz they know they'll never be 5 percent of what he is or the character he's portraying.

Those men look more like what your ideal of a man is, not women. I'll give you Bond but the man with no name? That's just a boyhood fantasy of what men thought was cool. Don't get me wrong, Eastwood is a badass in those movies (although I'd take the man with the harmonica personally).

Isn't it mostly just teen girls who are into those bands? They look like the Korean version of what teen girls have been into for a long time.

That's what i mean this was all the rage 20 years ago and everybody was making fun of them back then, is it a case of what old is new again?

This is a good a point. Historically androgynous looking males have always been popular, especially with the Catholic Church.

I don't think it ever went away. Teen girls have always been into this stuff and people have always made fun of it.
Remember young Justin Bieber, or the Jonas brother or basically any other male teen pop star? It's not like this stuff ever went away

Not correct. It seems to me that you don't know how popular k-pop became worldwide
Most non-Asian women in the west do not find these kind of effeminate men attractive. You only have to look at the popular reality TV shows in the west to see the kind of men women in the west want.

Clint Eastwood was a scrawny pussy who made a living out of squinting like a tough guy. He was 6'4 and looked like he weighed about 120lbs soaking wet.

I'm 30 and I still listen to some of their songs.
Crappy teen vomiting lyrics, but great music nonetheless.

BTS is the current 'look how cool I am that I listen to korean music'.
it wouldnt be that bad if teens werent of the I'M SO FUCKING OBSSESED I WOULD KILL FOR BTS kind.

Yeah, so anime is reality now?

Actually, I think this is the perfectly made point. Your avatar is just as femme as those Korean boys you're talking crap about except they get like a billion times more attention from females than you do.

I'm a bit older and like you I don't get the attraction and likewise I would never associate an avatar that looks EXACTLY LIKE THEM if you plan on taking shots at their masculinity.

What happened to masculinity? Adult males associating themselves with anime characters, that's what happened.

Every hashtag on Twitter has photos of those creepy looking asian men that look like sex robots. I'm not joking. Click on any hashtag. They will be there somewhere.

Also, notice that they have dyed their hair to look like westerners. Where is the cultural outrage?

Yeah it just seems things in different cultures are completely different and there is no understanding it unless you were raised there. Like why do all JAV porn actresses act like they're crying and miserable in porn scenes? It's some culture thing that men over there like - drives me fucking nuts

women still want those men clint eastwood's son gets mad tang I think Clint had like 4 wifes himself brother haulin as$

A lot of assumptions in your post my friend, my avatar is from a game i like a lot right now and is subject to change, and I'm married so I'm not worried about what some dumb teen somewhere in the world is fancying it's just curious to me how teens nowadays find these "girly" man attractive? I'm not American or from the west and when I was growing up i can tell you no girl was into these types of guys.

Is the OP really lamenting that teenage girls are not interested in 30 and 40 year old men?

I used to dress like a girl in my teens with eyeliner and long floppy hair and I got more action than I do now.

Think that about says it all.

Well, you point out what teen girls are going crazy for and then question what women find masculine. I think you don't get it because you're conflating different age groups. Of course teenage girls are going to choose boy bands, not men old enough to be their dads because the latter more fits the "men want to be them" part.
