How much roadkill do you do see?

I get there might be times where there's nothing you can do about the situation and you're gonna hit that animal no matter what. Those times are fine, but I feel, most times, it's either due to negligence or deliberate actions that's killing these animals I'm seeing.

I see at least 5 a day on my drive to work. How much do you see?

I've never hit an animal in my life btw (33 in March). Driving since 15.
 
There's a highway that all my coworkers and I travel when we go to work (it's a seasonal job) and we made a point to count the roadkill every morning. There was a day there was 15 dead squirrels 2 raccoons and a deer. Idk if Satan was out for a drive the night before, but it was a horrific sight

I always see a ton of roadkill in Virginia. I have ran over a possum, a squirrel, and have had a deer run into me during 18 years of driving here. Trust me, it's unlikely to be people going out of their way to hit stuff. No-one is gonna hit a deer on purpose, and they are frequent road kill. The one that hit me ran into the side of my car as I was going by and brained itself on my side view mirror, completely exploding the mirror and scaring the living shit out of me. If he had ran out two seconds earlier I would have been lucky not to have serious injuries.
 
It was a regular sight when I lived in a more rural area but where I am now I almost never see anything. I seriously doubt it's ever malicious or negligence though. Things dart out suddenly and there isn't much you can do.

I've personally rammed 3 deer in my time and there was no way I could have avoided them.

An associate from work said he knew guys that would hit deer on purpose for the free meat, but you don't get to see that road kill as it's promptly taken away for dressing, aging, and cutting
 
I hit a deer for the first time ever this year. It was right after my dog died. Smacked into the drivers side and destroyed my mirror and gave me a nice dent.

I was in tears though. It was more from being so startled I think. I felt really bad.

On a separate note. My dog got hit by a car (survived after the ER) and the dumb bitch just drove off. Like how does a person do that?
 
Way too much. I actually witnessed a kitten getting ran over by a car which was quite horrifying, especially since the driver kept on driving like nothing happened. Also plenty of hedgehogs, their population seems to have increased in the last few years.

I never hit any larger animal myself, but it's a lottery especially with deers and boars. Most public road don't have any barriers separating them from the forests so it's basically down to being very unlucky.

A fair share of rabbits. Though to be fair they can be hard to spot at night and it doesn't help that they usually run away from cars the same way people in prometheus ran away from falling spaceships:

From Virginia as well and there's shit dead everywhere lol. My wife and I went to a cabin for our anniversary and on our way back there was a black bear spread out on the side of the road.

I see the occasional flatten squirrel. Dead skunks too because they give off the smell every time they're hit.

The worst I've ever seen was this giant raccoon that looked like a small bear. Definitely had to call the city to remove it.

Not too much. Perhaps a fox every so often. 3-4 a year.

The strangest experience I've had with an animal walking into the road involved a stag, about 30 miles outside of London. It walked out, I slammed on the breaks and stopped about 2-3 metres away. It stood still sizing me up, rammed my car one time and walked across the road like a boss. It was quite a surreal experience really as I was the only car on what was a very quiet countryside road surrounded by Woodlands.
 
Rarely. I did run over an already dead deer carcas that was lying on the street. Man, my whole underside of the car was covered in scratches, hair and blood. Nasty stuff.

Did that too, on the highway going about 60. Got the car checked out and luckily nothing got damaged, but there was deer chunks and fur stuck all under the car.
 
Driving between Austin and Houston, I see something every few miles or so...

Coyote, deer, racoon, cats, squirrels, birds...it's a little depressing...

During deer rut season it gets pretty bad.

In the Austin metro area, don't see too much - occasional squirrel, racoon, or armadillo every few weeks.

I, too, saw a kitten get run over. It was in the middle of the road trying to evade cars like Frogger. It was able to evade 3 or 4 cars, too, but it was meant to be.
 
There's a winding back-road in my neighborhood that serves as a short-cut for getting on to the city/highway quicker. It's a dangerous road with sharp turns and no lights. It cuts right through the forest. I see all kinds of small animals, from armadillos to cats, on my commute to school/work. I've seen plenty of deer run across the roads at night. I almost hit one once, close call.

I've hit 2 Roos and countless bunnies in the last 13 years.

You're better off hitting a soft animal than a solid tree and causing a horrific accident.
 
too much. Mostly foxes and badgers and i refuse to believe that most of them are accidental.

It makes me me sad.

I will add them to the list along side funerals and the Grand Canyon.
 
I see a lot of roadkill, deers, squirrels, birds, foxes, hedgehogs, sometimes a badger.
I have to drive over one of the most dangerous roads here in south Germany every day, there are a lot of people and animals dying there per year

I was going 160 kph once in a dark road when this huge dog appeared out of nowhere and made a beeline right smack dab in the middle of my front bumper. It exploded and split the bumper in two.

Car needed some work after that... getting all the chunks out took a while.

Not many animals where I live so you guys stories seem pretty fucked up to me lol

Yep. That is truth. People have lost control of their vehicles and end up flipping on the side of the road and possibly dead trying to avoid an animal.
