Well people where hyping all the advantages the new node 7nm+ could five to RDNA2... like better performance/watt, smaller CU size, etc.
Now everything is just like RDNA... size and no node performance/watt improviment.
BTW that explain why Phil shared Scarlett's chip is so dam big... ~400m2.

7nm is just the die size . The smaller size has shown the AMD GPU to perform faster, use less power and takes up less room. AMD roadmap after 2020 likely is 5nm semiconductor technology process.
RDNA 2 and RDNA1 are 7nm. RDNA2 is obviously better than RDNA when it has hardware ray tracing natively. There likely other improvements made by AMD on the chip.
