Football: A Game Of Two Halves & A Round Ball, It's A Funny Old Game

3 changes at HT. Bruno, Mbeumo & De Ligt.
(Fredricson, Ugarte & Dorgu off)

Shows just how bad they've been when Amorim makes 3 changes so early!

Shouldve been 3-0... They've had the ball in our net 4 times, 3 legitimately.

15 mins to find another goal. Never thought I'd be saying that today.

Absolutely done. FA Cup is all that's left and we won't win that, we won't even beat Burnley at the weekend. Season over for United, hopefully we won't be relegated and can at least compete with Everton & Fulham in 2026.

No European football and now no League Cup just means extra time on the training pitch! When you think about it, that's actually a good thing, right? ...right!?

Genuinely don't think it'll do us any good, the system doesn't work. Even at the end when Mount & Zirkzee came on, they were playing as wing-backs, he still refused to change the system so people were completely out of position and the whole team looked lost & confused (More than normal). I've been a supporter of Amorim but tonight has made me reconsider.

I was just joking, since going into this season people were trying to view no European football as having some kind of benefit. But yeh, I'm also an Amorim supporter but tonight was grim(sby).

The thing is, I can imagine that'll be the comments from manager/players "We'll get more time to work on the system now" etc ... that and "the weather was poor".

I think he's going to resign...

Watching his interview "The players spoke really loudly today" ... when asked what he meant he said "They spoke really loud... they gave their response on the pitch"

Looks like we're gonna need a new manager for after the International break.

Update:

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim speaking to Sky Sports: "In the end, it doesn't matter if we recover or not, it's the signs the team gave during the game, the beginning of the game. I think the best team won, the only team that was on the pitch. The best players lose because one team can win against any group of players, and I think the team and the players spoke really loud today, so that's it. We lost, the best team won."

On what he means by that: "I think it's really clear what they spoke, so let's move on from this day and I think it was clear for everybody what happened today."

"The way we start the game without any intensity, all the idea of the pressure, we were completely lost and that's why I think they spoke really loud."

Yeh, I'm all for giving time for the players to get to know the system and gel with each other. But, with no offence intended to Grimsby, there should be a base level of talent there that means they should be able to walk through a League 2 side regardless of the preparation they did beforehand.

See my comment above ... sounds like that won't be needed, very much seems like he's going to walk ...

After seeing the flash interview i feel sorry for him and all the couches before him.

Ronaldo was the only speaking up and now Amorim also.

United is fucked beyond repair...the club is full of primadonas that truely dont care

Leave this shitshow ruben, u dont deserve this cricus of a club

The players run the club, not ineos,Sir Jim....

How come the team plays so well against arsenal and then all of a sudden stops knowing how to play?? Give me a break...they are fuckin Amorim for defeat

My team drew Newcastle away. Hoping for another cup upset, but can't really see it, even though we've had an amazing start to the season.

Good luck, unfortunately Newcastle aren't cowards like the Man Utd players so they'll likely turn up & give you a game. Hopefully it's a good one though.

We've had some amazing cup games against the top teams over the years. Coming from 2-0 down to beating Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge, beating Arsenal at home on pens, beating Villa 3-1 at home. More of the same!

Here we go again! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Happy to meet Newcastle since they beat us 4-1.

Okay we'll get to see that PSG Barca matchup that many wanted before the final.

And yes here we go too... what a wild and unexpected draw with.. Man City :messenger_tears_of_joy: That's 6th time in the last 7 years

Barca want their revenge too since the 1-4 last year :messenger_tears_of_joy: I really like this UCL format.
Oh and you have to destroy Marseille at the Bernabeu!

Yeah it's actually not that bad, and with last year we already learned some things. Like PSG can still win even if they finish 15th and get an easier playoff opponent for "punishment"
And then of course the other way around too how City v RM proved they can can make it rather difficult for themselves too. Point is this is kinda still business as usual till we only have the smaller drop off at the end of league phase, and if not then it's just more easy teams remaining for the rest.
