Is it not possible that MS and Sony just have different marketing plans and are executing them, regardless of what the competition is doing? Even if MS is 10% down in raw GPU compute, they'd have to feel good in comparison to last gen.

yes, these tests are not necessarily final specs... that should be pretty clear

these tests were done before Microsoft announced 12TF. so it makes absolutely perfect sense to raise clocks slowly and push as high as possible.

if their hardware wouldn't have been able to run at 12TF with 4 deactivated CUs they would have announced a different number, but they were able to reach that number 12.1TF and that's what they're then giving us as their final specs.
if they would have been able to push for 13 then that would have been the advertised number.

all the leaks regarding the higher PS5 dev kit numbers, the ones reaching up to 13TF also stated that dev kits changed their clocks all the time and the hardware got more and more powerful with each new dev kit iteration.

if you now question the possibility of Microsoft literally doing this exact same thing, then you literally also have to also distrust every single leaker who said that Sony is doing that exact thing.

I've seen people post many mockups of PS5 and PS5 controllers to no detriment, isn't that all part of the next gen fever? What was most important, the specs, he got that right.....As accurate as a bullseye....

If the PS5 was not revealed in PSM or whatever, plans changes, it's not Tommy's fault, the fact that he got the specs right means he is getting his info from a legit source...

The SX won't have 13gb for games. It will have either 16+4/8 or 16+something else. It won't limit it to 13gb, it would be suicide, even more so against a higher memory PS5. The speeds are up for debate, yes, but I highly, highly doubt they would be this short sighted but in the ball with everything else, even more so when this is the exact same misstep that happened last gen (banking on Sony only having 4gb, switched to 8gb).

In fact o wouldn't be surprised to see either console bump that 16gb up even. Even last gen, 2 years ago, 16gb for games was pushing it. I see no reason why a machine that has to last another 6-8 years would be stuck with an such a low figure, when everything else is top shelf. Even more so when you think about memory being so important at such high resolutions (both screen and asset).

Oh Myyyyyy…….I'm sure with all that headroom Series X has, it could go up to 14TF before launch....AMIRITE...?

that was a speculation. the speculation was that it has 60CUs and 56 active ones.

but no actual data on how many CUs are on the physical chip were included.
this means the data could have very well shown the full chip with all CUs activated, which again... is what Microsoft does in their Dev Kits.

so again, nothing in today's news disproves the leaked GPU

Agree with you we should be cautious with Tommy Fisher info. He has already shared falso info before. Even if he got Microsoft right, that doesn't mean he is also right about PS5. We also got klee saying TFs PS5 specs are not even close to what he has.
