I own a switch, ps4pro, and an x1x. Last gen, I was convinced I would get a PS4 first because of all the bad news about the Xbox one. I ended up getting an Xbox first just because ps4s kept being out of stock.
the one thing I'm really thinking about is the design of the ps5 because I'm not really excited at how the series x looks.
Tomorrow may decide which console I purchase first.

It will be a relief just to GET some more info about the PS5. All the speculation is fun, but until Sony says something official, that's all it is, speculation. Hopefully, Sony will finally put an end to (most of) the speculation soon.

PS5 will be slightly less powerful then XsX with the exception of dedicated Ram to the OS, with Sony taking the charge with innovation. Sony has always had more balls (so to speak) when it comes to changing up the game a bit. With more innovation comes more tech in the controller, ect, and this has to account for costs elsewhere which is why I have no doubt XsX will have the sleight edge here power (look at last gen when Xbox tried to add to much innovation, drove up cost) . Unlike last gen, both companies are going the same route, with Sony coming with a bit more flare.
We will see 8 hours from now, looking forward to it.

But in your scenario all operations go through the mechanical at which point you are being throttled by the hdd. We have experience with similar setups: Apple has been shipping for awhile now on it's imac line a dual small ssd + large mechanical ssd setup and people are well aware that it is nowhere like a real ssd.

Because Microsoft showed that they're not repeating the same mistakes? They already revealed the system and it's great. Closer competition this gen for sure.
We'll see in 9 hours and hopefully Sony surprise us all in a good way.
