What the fuck man, this one short little film was fucking better than all of season 2. They should just get these guys to make season 3 if they ever make one.

The story and character were more engaging, not to mention the action scenes were waaaaaaaay better choreographed and directed too. Hell this had the manliest action scene in the series.

I'm shocked by how much I enjoyed this in comparison to season 2 series. I actually liked the art style too, I usually hate 3d anime but the characters in this were so expressive that I loved it.

If you like Altered Carbon you should give this film a go. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Is season 1 worth watching?

Season 1 was great IMO. I liked the story, characters and production values. Which is why hearing about season 2 being bad/disappointing sucks.

At least S1 tells a fairly self contained story so it's still worth checking out

I absolutely LOATHED season 1 of this show. The way conversations were shot really got under my skin; so static with no movement. Felt like something out of last generation videogame where players are always stationary when in a dialog.

I stopped watching season 2 after the 6th episode in a 2 week period, i binged season 1 in 3 days. Season 1 wasn't perfect by any means but season 2 is visually cheap and feels lazy overall and don't have the slightest inclination to see how it progresses.

Season 1 is solid cyberpunk future material; an underlying political/social commentary, a noteable scarcity of resources, a mystery plot, and an immediate threat staring you in the face.

Season 2, from what I could bear to watch, brings us all the flash of cyberpunk but none of the trappings.
