Great video, I love the fact that he is suggesting that the ps5 will use almost all of its Ram for games, we are going to have a great laugh when Sony announces how much Ram the OS is using, cause they sure as hell weren't transparent about that too , among many other things.
 
In the end just like with the various bs insiders we had preaching sony's gospel for months, the truth will be revealed. Sony will have to say how many GB of Ram are allocated to the OS and we will have the first game comparisons from DF. Unfortunately it is inevitable....

Yessssss NXGamer explains what I've been trying to explain. The variable frequency or what we're calling boost mode in PS5 is not like the standard boost mode we know of.

He's talking about XSX slower SSD, as the higher Tflop GPU will be mainly used to push pixels in 3rd party multiplat games (similar to this gen), but first party PS5 games will use the fast SSD to benefit game design (in theory).

Read again. The context is very clearly about Microsoft limiting themselves (in this developer's opinion) by supporting legacy hardware with new games.

You're reading into it too much.

In the end, the result is that the developer is saying that PS5 has an advantage in this area, so not much difference, but an important distinction.

Edit: Actually, it really can be taken both ways.

XSX SSD is not slow, 2.5GB/s sustained speed is not slow. It will enable a change in game design. PS5 IO systems is just faster.

Testing a nvidia gpu versus a amd gpu is kinda pointless. Anybody knows this, Nvidia tflops are different from AMD as they use different architectures this is well known. Tflops from nvidia are only interesting towards nvidia products.

This makes the video kinda rough to watch entirely because the point he tries to make is useless.

Tflops is used to see what a card performs against the one before it and that's why nvidia and amd pushes it.

Tflops are not a lie as they are a indication of performance specially when u talk about 2 platforms that use the exact same architecture. Which those consoles funny enough feature rofl.

Also comparing pc games vs console games even while u don't know the settings of said console is also laughable at best to draw conclusions out of it.

Want to compare different architectures or platforms? compare them with same source of data and see what they do, still performance will fluctuate for different games which is why you make a list of non biased games with settings that are realistic ( no hairworks etc ) and compare it to see what the tflops actually mean as result.

All this flew right over his head.

Though his comparison may be flawed, I think there are some valid points in there, that the general consumer should not to swayed by the allure of a simple TFlop figure, and that bottlenecks can render increased TFlops redundant. Those are just two positive points I can recall that he made.

Yea tflop gets redundant if the game hits a CPU bottleneck. Good luck bottlenecking a ryzen 2 3,5ghz cpu tho with 9-10tflops gpu while they will focus at 4k resolutions. There is a reason why PC gamers with far weaker CPU's still upgrade there GPU's with 4k screens to stuff like 2080/2080ti's. CPU bottleneck isn't much of a thing at that resolution.

His whole talk about tflops is just resolution is laughable at best, if that was the case why even upgrade your 970gtx, thing gives the same performance as a 2080ti.

Look at the end of the day people buy what makes sense for them.

Xbox one was a massive dud, 100 bucks more worse at everything. There was absolute no reason to not buy a PS4 for the majority of people and that's exactly what happened if you were not into PC gaming.

However this generation.

Want best version of fifa / multiplatform game but want a console, get a xbox.
Want the best version of fifa / multiplatform game get a PC
Want to play xbox exclusives, get a PC or xbox
Want to play PC exclusives, get a PC
Want to play Sony exclusives, get a PS5 or PC maybe? not sure if they going to port there games more from now on.
Want sony exclusives but want a console, get a PS5.

That depending on the system and how it's designed, certain bottlenecks may appear at certain points along the chain that can affect performance. Therefore, just looking at the Tflops figures alone in determining a system's performance isn't enough.

Yeah but that's just stating the obvious though. He's not really giving new insight into anything and while Tflops aren't everything they can absolutely be compared on the same architecture. PS4/XB1 specs pretty much played out exactly how we expected despite any secret sauce that MS talked about.

It's all obvious, but clearly it bears repeating. Of course more flops means more performance with everything else being equal, but things are rarely equal and fair. Point taken about PS4/XB1, but with all the custom silicon and new way of thinking of the PS5, I don't think it's an apples vs. apples comparison here like it was this gen, combined with the fact that it's becoming clearer that we may be experiencing diminishing returns when it comes to GPU performance in gaming applications.

Edit: I hope you won't misconstrue what I'm saying. GPUs will inevitably get faster and faster, but there is literally nothing stopping even PS4's GPU from rendering photo-realism today, so I really don't think Sony will be hurting for that extra 2Tflops.

This is an excellent video. People should watch this. He explains a lot of things better. I think he did a better job than Cerny there.

From what I understand, he has not only worked on smaller games, but also works in programming, IT and hardware construction. He's closer to something like Digital Foundry.

Wtf did i just read. NX knows more than you, he is not new. He has been doing comparisons since the ps3.

Edit : i could be wrong on the ps3, but he's been doing it for a while now. He's an older member than you at least.
