Each of these games has had multiple iterations over a long period of time. To expect that they stay the same, or the quality remains the same, well you're just fooling yourself.
Time to get over [insert favorite series] not being the same.
I'm ok with franchises changing, but the problem is a lot of them lose identity, and mantain it is the most important thing
I'd be ok with playing a resident evil in the year 2060, but I want to feel like actually playing Resident Evil, no matter how different it is
Gta always feels like gta, as well as Mario games, Zelda, even GoW 4, so different, but still so familiar, dmcv is very different but it's 100% dmc style
Doom too
Re3, on the other side...
Good game, but doesn't feel like a RE
Tomb Raider too, not that they're bad games, but...they only have TR name
Mgsv too, sadly, incredible gameplay, but, apart from characters, close your eyes and try to imagine :
You are in the '90s, you have a time machine, and suddenly see this game playing
Do you really manage to recognize it as a MGS?
It' s the " this game should have another name and be a new IP" syndrome, one of the biggest problem in the industry
