South Park ep soon?

Update from my area: UK North West.

2 people from my street have passed away due to COVID 19.
Both men in their 80's one relatively active, the other with underlying health issues.
1 of my local customers also passed away, he was in his 70's and fit as a fiddle.
I know a number of people that have had it/currently (suspected to) have it, they are currently isolating.
A friend who lives in a rural area has told me the couple in the neighbouring farm have it (not tested) but have not been out anywhere for 5 weeks and has no visitors, they are putting it down to packaging on food deliveries or the gate by his property , it's a public footpath which has seen a lot of use lately.
My grandfather has passed away also suspected C-19, he was in a care home, he was also an evil scum bag so no great loss there.

Who needs Corona when you can get this:

Anilingus has potential health risks arising from the oral contact with human feces. Diseases which may be transmitted by contact with feces include: bacterial diseases including shigellosis (bacillary dysentery); viral systemic diseases including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, poliomyelitis, human papillomavirus (HPV) and herpes simplex virus; parasites including intestinal parasites; and infections and inflammations chlamydia infection, gastroenteritis, conjunctivitis, gonorrhea, lymphogranuloma venereum[12] and other sexually transmitted infections.[13]

Models are fine as long as you understand that they are only as accurate as the info you are feeding them and that they are static. With a new virus that we are learning more and more about everyday while it continues to spread at a rapid rate and governments are all constantly shifting policies to contend with it, who can reasonably expect any of the models to be even close? Especially since most of the policies are aimed directly at more favorable outcomes than the scenarios laid out in the models?

The problem with models is people are dumb and the news has zero interest in educating the public on this stuff. A study comes out that says we will have 2 million deaths if the early CFL rate from the WHO is accurate, that is based off bogus numbers from China, and doesnt take any mitigation efforts into account, etc, etc, etc. What will the media say in their 30 second spot? "W.H.O. REPORTS 2 MILLION AMERICANS DEAD BY CORONAVIRUS". Instead the message should be "we dont know but here is out latest guess based on existing information".

This also plays into what I've been saying since Feb now: if you have a successful mitigation plan in place, it will always look like an overreaction. You limit travel, you have shelter in place orders, etc. and your infected numbers and fatalities are low. People just look at the mitigation efforts are an overreaction because "it didnt get that bad" but the exact reason why it didn't is because of the mitigation efforts. It goes way back to the "I didnt even die, bruh" attitude that people are already starting to have at the first signs of cases leveling off.

2018-2019 stats

16 deaths for the season

6050 cases, 0.26% CFR

2017-2018 stats

24 deaths for the season

8278 cases, 0.28% CFR

Coronavirus:

28 deaths
1501 cases, 1.8% CFR so about 6.5x worse than the 2017-2018 outbreak, BUT a lot less cases diagnosed. However, even if the case #s were actually at 2017 levels, there have still been more deaths already, and we're not yet done. So.. more wait and see.

Ventura County opening up slowly. Let's hope the OC is next!

Great. My parents next door neighbor has it. I hope they really stayed in doors for the past couple like they have claimed.

Although when it comes to their health issues, they flat out lie to my brother and I.

Holy crap, UK figure is sub-450 for the day. 449 to be exact.

As usual, caveats about it not being actual today's casualties and weekend reporting lag applies, but still it's a huge change.

Cuomo saying on his briefing right now he wants to use the reopening to "reimagine society". That was the goal of these lockdowns. Get ready for the gulags.

Of course it is. Why do you think Democrats wanted to tie in the GND and other nonsense into emergency stimulus funding?

That showed what their priorities were, and what they will be during all of this.

What, you saw those video about India? How they solve the situation in it? And by this acting, they endangering others. It's ironic, that people who act like this on the streets probably saying same thing as I do, because how can you go with shit like "virus is a hoax", when shitton of people died in NY. I don't really thing this is a way to do it. Sorry.

hey look if you want the police to go around beating people with sticks for not hiding in their homes, that's your prerogative.

it sounds like you don't live in my country and i thank god for that.

Singapore is an interesting one.. they kept their daily numbers SUPER low and now its exploding. They recorded +1436 cases today (on top of the graph).

Once an example of what to do, they managed to let it gain a foothold over time. Did they relax their rules?

I hope you've got your own bathroom, catching covid 19 from a toilet seat is no way to go out.

Please start a JordanN in isolation topic so we can track your progress.
One of the smartest things I did back in 2004 was ask to see a house plan and requested a version with a bathroom for my room.
Had I not done that, I would have been sharing the public bathroom, which I would despise.

In regards to progress, nothing has really changed. They still walk around the house and wear masks, they just bring up the virus is painful.

I've been told by my workplace to wait it out for 2 weeks but honestly, I don't even know if that's long enough. Especially since I would have to leave my room, travel through the infected part of the house, go to work, then come back inside the infected part and return to my room. I have two disinfectant bottles I used to spray down any surfaces but it might not be enough because it's also airborne. I'll see what my workplace has to say when the 2 weeks are over.

On a more positive note, what are some good changes from this craziness that you hope will stick around? For me:

-I hope this shows more employers that many jobs can be done from home, and that some people are more productive working from home and not being distracted by chatty co-workers, too many pointless meetings (though those can still happen via phone/video conference), wasting time commuting etc. Other people can't get shit done and home and like being in the office. Give workers more flexibility in where and when to work--where possible of course. Doesn't work as well for things that need to be done by employees working together directly/physically or public facing positions where in-person interactions with clients are key. But for jobs where people are mostly working individually at their desks, no reason to not allow working from home for those who prefer to work at home can do so as (or more) productively as they were in the office. It can save the company money by not needing as many offices, improved productivity and job moral and retention, shorter rush hours for those who have to commute, less pollution etc. I don't really have a dog in this fight as I've always been able to work from home 3-4 days most weeks and sometimes all 5 days and my wife is totally work from home (aside from some meetings at agencies etc.). Just think it would be a positive change for workers--but again I think it needs to be flexible so those who prefer working in the office have the opportunity to do so.

-Better sanitation habits become more widespread. So many nasty people who don't wash their hands in public restrooms, don't cover their coughs on flights etc. Pandemic or no, that shit needs to stop so regular colds, flus, stomach bugs etc. become less widespread. If often catch a cold during or after any trip with long flights due to this kind of shit, and that's with being anal about hand washing, wiping down tray tables etc.

-Social distancing becomes a bit more normal in the sense of people respecting personal space in stores. Drives me nuts when people get right on to of me in lines, grocery aisles etc.

-Hand shaking becomes less common. Such a huge germ spreader, and often happen at the start of meetings etc. where you can't wash your hands for a while.

Just announced: Aytu BioScience Signs Exclusive Global License with Cedars-Sinai for Potential Coronavirus Treatment

"Led by Mark Pimentel, MD, the research team of the Medically Associated Science and Technology (MAST) Program at Cedars-Sinai has been developing the patent-pending Healight platform since 2016 and has produced a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating pre-clinical safety and effectiveness of the technology as an antiviral and antibacterial treatment. The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device. Pre-clinical findings indicate the technology's significant impact on eradicating a wide range of viruses and bacteria, inclusive of coronavirus. The data have been the basis of discussions with the FDA for a near-term path to enable human use for the potential treatment of coronavirus in intubated patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Beyond the initial pursuit of a coronavirus ICU indication, additional data suggest broader clinical applications for the technology across a range of viral and bacterial pathogens. This includes bacteria implicated in ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP). "Our team has shown that administering a specific spectrum of UV-A light can eradicate viruses in infected human cells (including coronavirus) and bacteria in the area while preserving healthy cells," stated Dr. Pimentel of Cedars-Sinai. Ali Rezaie, MD, one of the inventors of this technology states, "Our lab at Cedars-Sinai has extensively studied the effects of this unique technology on bacteria and viruses. Based on our findings we believe this therapeutic approach has the potential to significantly impact the high morbidity and mortality of coronavirus-infected patients and patients infected with other respiratory pathogens. We are looking forward to partnering with Aytu BioScience to move this technology forward for the benefit of patients all over the world."" (4/20/20)

That's the problem with a disease with no cure, if you're good at isolating people you can keep the numbers low, but you need to keep it airtight or else you'll only delay the contagion. That's why even countries who are "doing well" shouldn't rejoice prematurely and stay focused.

Lets hope this works.

I saw a YT video from a doctor who has been putting out some good vids and he basically talked about UV light tech that could basically block the virus from spreading. So by blasting the virus with these UV lights it can be killed in the air and surfaces. Basically would be something that could be used in hospitals or air ports etc... and the tech isn't new its form a couple of years ago.

Add that to the fact that we peaked at 980 then had another lower peak after that, hung around 800 and dropped hard, I'd say it's clear we're over the worst of it now. Also have a look at Spain and Italy's numbers - both absolutely fantastic considering where they were. I'm really very pleased to see things going in the right direction.

Not to be a downer, but I'm not sure a drop in 0.02 a person is statistically significant when it comes to signaling a new trend.

Italians use a dot instead of a comma to denote between thousands. "108.257 to 108.237" means "108,257 to 108,237" so we have 20 fewer people infected. Sure, it's not much, but going down for the first time hints at a trend we're seeing in the declining death and case counts.

It's really sad actually. All but a handful of those infected are dirt poor Pakistani and Bangladeshi labourers confined into subhuman barracks while they are resting from building the next skyscraper

Shit lol I didn't think of that. Damn Europeans and their funny math notation!

*shakes fist at the east*

That is a good thing then. I thought that was some weird statistic.

ah so they are retarded

I've had Coronavirus and its definitely not an enjoyable experience. Temperature of 38.2 degrees, coughing, and a tight band around the chest with constricted breathing. Could barely talk on a phone for a minute without running out of breath. Walking up and down stairs was an exhausting exercise. All this and I'm 30 with no health problems.

Its definitely not just a flu. Stay inside as much as possible; as people are resistant to following good social distancing from my experience.

Did you recover in two weeks or did it take longer?
Have you also had thoughts of the virus reactivating?

Get better and kick the Kung Flu in its balls.

Two and a half weeks for all symptoms to go away including the chest tightness. Even though I don't have any symptoms I still don't feel fully back to normal. My normal hour walk to work tires me out way more than used to.

Oh I'm better and back at work now. Just, a normal flu I could go to work with. It was manageable; Paracetamol, Guaifenesin and Pseudoephedrine covers all for a typical chesty flu . This is something completely different, I've had zero history of dry coughs or flus.

Thanks you for this vital information.

I'm not trying to scare you but your report that you feel more tired lines up with studies that say the virus leaves behind a "honeycomb" or "glass-like" pattern in the lungs.
Maybe the next time you go to a hospital, you should ask for a scan of your chest.

In healthy lungs, that picture should be all black.

I'm frustrated. My brother is an advanced ICU traveling nurse. He got a new contract back in December and was in the regular ICU department. Recently he got moved to the corona-department. Which scares me. My bother, like me, has heart issues, and he almost died 5 years ago from an extremely rare lung infection he caught from a patient. His lungs never fully recovered from that. So my nerves are pretty shot.

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THEY ARE PAYING HIM $500 LESS A PAYCHECK NOW THAT HE IS IN THE CORONA-DEPARTMENT. Which is beyond fucked up. He said it's always crowded and busy in his section, so you can't argue, "oh they just aren't getting any corona patients so they're cutting checks" NOPE.

I'm just pissed and scared for him.

yup, and their PM's wife / ceo of Temasek is rejoicing about the situation.
