Interesting read - seems Bild are fucking going for Winnie The Shit.

Yup came here to post this. Good. Someone has to do this. It's absolutely their fault, they had everything at hand to stop this shit from ever happening but they preferred to let it spread.

On a more positive note, what are some good changes from this craziness that you hope will stick around? For me:

-I hope this shows more employers that many jobs can be done from home, and that some people are more productive working from home and not being distracted by chatty co-workers, too many pointless meetings (though those can still happen via phone/video conference), wasting time commuting etc. Other people can't get shit done and home and like being in the office. Give workers more flexibility in where and when to work--where possible of course. Doesn't work as well for things that need to be done by employees working together directly/physically or public facing positions where in-person interactions with clients are key. But for jobs where people are mostly working individually at their desks, no reason to not allow working from home for those who prefer to work at home can do so as (or more) productively as they were in the office. It can save the company money by not needing as many offices, improved productivity and job moral and retention, shorter rush hours for those who have to commute, less pollution etc. I don't really have a dog in this fight as I've always been able to work from home 3-4 days most weeks and sometimes all 5 days and my wife is totally work from home (aside from some meetings at agencies etc.). Just think it would be a positive change for workers--but again I think it needs to be flexible so those who prefer working in the office have the opportunity to do so.

-Better sanitation habits become more widespread. So many nasty people who don't wash their hands in public restrooms, don't cover their coughs on flights etc. Pandemic or no, that shit needs to stop so regular colds, flus, stomach bugs etc. become less widespread. If often catch a cold during or after any trip with long flights due to this kind of shit, and that's with being anal about hand washing, wiping down tray tables etc.

-Social distancing becomes a bit more normal in the sense of people respecting personal space in stores. Drives me nuts when people get right on to of me in lines, grocery aisles etc.

-Hand shaking becomes less common. Such a huge germ spreader, and often happen at the start of meetings etc. where you can't wash your hands for a while.
Just install motion sensors and zig zag entries to avoid touching anything in a rest room. Then nobody has to wash. My private area is kept inside my pants all day so it's not like it's dirty. Although if you take a dump or are a woman yeah you're still gonna have to get your hands dirty

That picture looks about as socially distanced as the Israel protest that people were praising, assuming the bunches of people are family units.

Time to put some thought into the economy.
WTI is in the negative.-$37 a barrel.

Historic oil plunge: Massive bailouts in US inevitable but recovery still a distant dream, industry figures tell RT https://www.rt.com/business/486383-oil-bailouts-crash-recovery/

The more we continue like this the harder it will be to go back to normal.
People might be ok now with their little handout money but if you have no job to go back to what will you do?

Things starting to look ugly. I rather go and live my life as before and die from corona then become homeless, at least i had a say in it.

There's no organized society without an economy. We're not there yet (hopefully not nearly there), but we're definitely running out of time with these lockdowns.

Oh we are there as of today.
In my province oil is all we have.
This is what our economy is based on.

I wish some of these reporters would actually investigate these claims from governors when they say they don't have enough tests. Like, find out what they actually mean and verify it.

The letters alone explain it all, but that photo of Kaitlan Collins did make me laugh.

"Nah fuck that bro muh freedoms WOOO let's hit the beach #YOLO"

What's the difference between this, and being able to walk in parks and go for jogs in them?

Nothing, that's what.

Not to mention the photos were not recent or taken in such a way to make it appear "congested". Here were live looks and actual photos. Pretty scarce and very good distancing.

Fake news is fake. And they were being called out for it in the Facebook comments with live cams all day long. Garbage.

Walking trails and parks around here all have full parking lots. All the parks I used to walk my dogs at and not see that many people are now over flowing with people. I've just been walking them around my neighborhood instead.

'with all of the death we've seen ... that's with our guard up, if we took our guard down, we would've lost millions of people'

'look at the bodies ... mass graves in heartland, new york'

'can you imagine, if we let our guard down and didn't sustain (it)'

This is absolutely terrifying:

  • The most aggressive strains of Sars-CoV-2 could generate 270 times as much viral load as the least potent type
  • New York may have a deadlier strain imported from Europe, compared to less deadly viruses elsewhere in the United States

PA set May 8th for the "limited opening" date. It was originally set for April 30th. People are starting to get really pissed.

Christ, if it mutates that quickly immunity is probably not going to happen. And if some strains are able to reproduce at 100x of times the rate of others the immune system may not be able to handle it regardless. That has to be where the autoimmune issues are coming from.

I don't understand why the media thinks US needs more testing since we are way ahead in numbers we must be testing a shit ton

Because the ICU beds and ventilator stories went no where, so now they are rolling out the testing narrative.

I don't think people understand the scale and logistics of creating millions of test for a novel virus.

The problem people have isn't the actual number of tests. It's the number of tests adjusted for population. For instance, Italy has performed almost twice as many tests as America when adjusted for population size. Germany is well ahead as well with population adjustment.

With that said, I don't necessarily think America necessarily needs to test in that way. For instance, Wyoming has less than 500 cases in the entire state. Clearly, they don't need such wide scale testing considering their specific situation. The US doesn't necessarily doesn't need to test the entire population with the same capacity as a smaller country in terms of both population and land mass.

You need to click on USA and check it out based on state. A place like NY was is doing 30K test per Million, more than Italy and Germany. 26 states have done more test per million than SK.

So your 2nd paragraph is correct. USA has been doing more test per capita in hot spots and bigger area's, while less in others which brings its per million number down. NY has done more absolute tests than all of SK. I can see them passing Spain and Italy in a few weeks.

Update on Sweden:

"There is a simpler explanation: Sweden is sticking to its policy because, on the whole, it is balanced and effectual. So far, the actual development is generally following the government's prediction. On Monday, 1,580 people had died and tested positive for Covid-19. The number of daily deaths has remained pretty stable at about 75 for a while but is not on a declining path. A lot more people will die in the next weeks and months but our death toll is far away from the pessimistic and alarmist predictions suggesting 80 to 90,000 people would die before the summer. There are also encouraging signs that the growth of reported infections is also slowing down – a development that holds for both Stockholm (by far the worst affected region) and the rest of the country. The estimate from the Public Health Agency is that 100,000 people will show up at a hospital and test positive for Covid-19: the current headcount, just south of 14,800, suggests we are broadly in line with that estimate – if not below it." (4/20/20)

"It will remain unclear for at least another couple of weeks if parts of Sweden (especially Stockholm) has developed some degree of herd immunity. A recent test at Karolinska suggested that 11 per cent of people in Stockholm had developed antibodies against the virus. Professor Jan Albert, who has led these tests, says the rate is most likely higher – perhaps substantially higher. So far they have only tested a small sample of blood donors and they can only donate if they are healthy and free of symptoms. Albert thinks the actual situation isn't far away from the ballpark suggested by professor Tom Britton in a study that was released this weekend: that between 25 and 40 per cent of the Stockholm population have had the virus and that the region will reach herd immunity in late May. These results are hopeful, even if they are still informed estimates and not observed reality. Nor will they change Swedish policy anytime soon. In fact, all the uncertainties around the future of this pandemic are part of the motivation for Sweden opting for a liberal approach. We have to plan for strong social distancing measures to remain in place for a long time and they won't work if they are harder than necessary." (4/20/20)

I don't see a problem with Colin donating money to his communities especially since they are hard hit. If an Italian, Jewish, Irish rich guy gave money to his community I would be fine with it.

Now if he was giving money to China or something that would be a different story. But if he wants to help blacks who are suffering a lot from Corona chan then good on him.

I was a little conflicted as to whether post this in here or in the clown thread:

So what happens if a White person or Asian person moves into one of those communities and ask for help? Will they get rejected based on skin color?

Someone should record the reaction.

Do East Asians get a pass as "brown"? Most East Asians I know would be really pissed off if you told them they are brown :messenger_tears_of_joy:

How DARE they not want to collapse the economy and go into a depression! How DARE they not want to lose their homes and starve.
It's funny when they defend these draconian measures they pat themselves on the back thinking, yeah, I am on science's side. Which science eh? The WHO, or the exponentially wrong modeling, how about no masks? Then they suck each other's dicks. It's a fascinating bubble to watch, full of fake ass "I fucking love science" types. It's really the dorkiest shit I have seen, and I post on a video game forum.

Maybe someone needs to tell them Economics is a type of science too.

Smug fucks that claim to be on the "side of science" while just regurgitating Twitter threads from people (often not scientists) they agree with could not be more annoying.
