Feminists suffer from a severe case of "man envy" and wish to turn their women into men as close as possible.
Modern day feminism: men and women are exactly the same, but women are superior, this is kind of ironic.
Honestly, there is a bit of a desire for chivalry in this view of things (they want men to give them everything... which is in a sense what we tend to do for women anyway, they ask and often our first reflex is to give whatever was asked for). However, the problem is that if you apply the ideology completely there is no real place for men in the whole thing, there is no upside to be masculine (we all know they often prefer masculine and especially toxic men anyway, but this is not what their scripture tells them to do).
Anyway, I think that most people who get overly worked out for examples such as the one above as far as body type (she looks solid, but certainly not masculine)... the only thing I find questionable is the number of people who live off of robbery, killing, looting, etc. in this world, after society collapse most would have to go back to farming, owning little farms and subsist / defend themselves, 40 years or so in those who don't have skills they can live from would all have died a long time ago... and women on farms, or small villages, those who life off of manual labor, give birth in dangerous conditions, they kind of have to end up looking a bit more buff than the modern hyper hot "sex toy" women (I say sex toy in the sense that this is how they behave, and their looks are decidedly meant to attract men)... you don't have energy to waste on this when death lurks behind every three.
I don't think SJW type issues would be at the top of the agenda for people in this world, gay people would probably be persecuted (depending where you live), so that part is definitely credible... That a group of them decide to get back at a group who hunts them out, this is not surprising either.. the problem is that with a gay village there would not be a second generation, but they could as easily just recruit those who are hunted out of places where they are not welcome, this is the kind of knowledge people pass around orally.
That being said, Joel is a character I loved, seeing him in this situation made me hate the other guys Ellie's "friends"... I hope they have a good reason to do this, and I hope Ellie does something about it.... but it does not seem to be what the game is about.
