The Last of Us season 2 will tweak Abby's storyline so we find out who she is earlier. Potential spoilers.

No real opinion, the shows is an adaptation and does thing differently. I am gonna watch it out of curiosity. Season 1 was ok but they changed too much Ellie's personality (she became an annoying and psychotic little brat in the show) and it killed a lot of my interest for the show.

Curious to see how they will do with Abby. If we know from the start who she is, will we also know that she seeks revenge ? As other mentioned, I guess Joël will survive much longer in the show but it will change quite a lot from the game if we know early that Abby is looking for him to kill him.

So the storyline of the game really was dogshit and they chose to somewhat change for the series because it would ruin their audience like the game ... you dont get more admission than this.

P.s. and time to watch the cuckman defense force spin this.
How are they really changing it?
Joel will still die in the first or second episode. We finding out why Abby wants revenge isn't that big of a reveal. It just makes more sense to reveal it at the beginning because they chose to stretch it to two seasons.

This is 100% accurate imho.

They know TV audience won't accept what they did to us.
I think TV audience will accept it more easily. They know that the series is based on already existing material.

The reveals were more impactful because of their timing. I'm not sure how they can create the same impact if they give that context at the start of the season.

But I trust Craig and Neil; they will likely find a way.

The reveal would probably happen in season 3 if they kept the timing so changing it makes sense. Gamers didn't have to wait that long.

Season 1 was beat for beat the game outside some side content ... Season 2 *apparently* will not be ... dont know what they are going to do but adding direct main characters storylines and drastically changing events order IS changing the story as told ... and I would bet as already shown that Abby will not be some she-hulk androgenous thing, and this btw is a good thing because we already have to look at Bella Ramsey.

All this changing IF confirmed just show they have ZERO confidence as they did with TLOU to do the exact same story.

Yeah, I understand the reason they gave. It makes sense why they are doing it. I'm just wondering what changes they'll make to create a similar impact and that 'aha' moment.

This was never going to make a strong impression anyway due to how weak the last series end was. None of these characters are remotely badass and the world feels extraordinarily benign compared to the game.

It seems that people are very excited. ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Trailer Is HBO’s Most-Watched Trailer Ever After Just 3 Days:

The Last of Us Part I has a linear story that can be told from one episode to the next, while The Last of Us Part II has several time jumps throughout the story.

The audience is not going to wait 2-3 years to continue Ellie's story, so it would best for them to tell Abby's and Ellie's story together.

He did think beyond it. He wanted the player to feel hatred, confusion and disgust of controlling and saving an unknown character that you actually want to kill going forward. Some people appreciated that thought behind it, while others didn't. And that's fine. You can argue that it was a bad choice of storytelling. But it wasn't thoughtless, in my opinion.

Agreed. From the outside it sounds like a horrible decision and if this was pitched to me as a massive fan of TLOU I'd tell Neil he's an idiot for doing this. Playing the game though? I loved every minute of it and I thought it was genius. So glad I was able to avoid all the spoilers and play it without knowing anything. I was pretty sure Joel was going to die (or be hurt and taken out of the majority of the game) but beyond that I didn't know anything else.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. The trailer for season 2 did massive numbers.

I wouldn't be stunned if her backstory are literally the first scenes in episode 1. Possibly even partly as a cold open.

Season 2:

Keep teasing Joel is gonna die
Ellie fighting her way to him
Abby back story
Flash backs of Joel and Ellie up to that point like the museum
End on a golfing range simulator

Then season 3 can be the hunt for Abby and final season is Ellie catching up with her in LA

Basically we gonna stretch this sucker out and bleed it dry. The viewership for this bitch will drop link a tank after season 2 and be a fraction for season 4.

I'm going to be very suprised if Joel doesn't die in episode 2.

“One of which [is] in the game… you play as Abby. So you immediately form an empathic connection with her because you’re surviving as her.
Hands down one of the funniest things i’ve read in a long time.

With good writing maybe this would have been the case but that’s expecting too much from Druckmann.

Yeah, many people here are delusional in assuming their performative hatred of the show is in any way a universal reaction.
